well written, good dialog & characters, interesting setting 5 out of 5 stars.

The author has taken a common science fiction/fantasy theme of a post-apocalyptic earth and used it as a setting for a good story with many new twists to make it enjoyable. The knowledge of what the people have lost and why it was lost is remembered and that knowledge is the backdrop for the story. There are interesting dynamics between cultures and individuals as they balance the need to improve life without making the same mistakes as the ancients. The dialog is well written, the characters are interesting, fun, and believable. I give the book a high rating. I read the second book first, and the author gets high marks for crafting a "volume 2" which stands as an enjoyable read on its own merits

Sarti can consider me preordered for anything else he writes 5 out of 5 stars.

I had never heard of Ron Sarti when I bought his series, and was very pleasantly surprised by what I found. I've seen the not-so-heroic hero done badly more times than I can count, but Sarti got it perfectly. The post-apocalyptic America he created is refreshingly not the result of a nuclear disaster but an earthquake (a really, really bad earthquake, of course). His characters are idealistic enough to be interesting, while the world in which they live is realistic enough to be believable. Starting the series I had doubts about Sarti's grasp on reality, only because I made the mistake of assuming that his character's ideals reflected his own, but he proved me wrong, especially in the third volume. He sees the pros and cons, and recognizes that sometimes the pros and cons don't matter in the end.

Editorial Review:

Arn, called ""Scar,"" the bastard prince of Kenesee, is sent on a dangerous thousand-mile quest across the embattled landscape of a post-holocaust America to find a cruel enemy tyrant who controls a terrible weapon that could once more destroy humankind. Original."

Good Premise... sadly underdeveloped. 3 out of 5 stars.

I really got into the premise of the begger child taken into the royal family. But Arn was a disappointment in that his sole ambition is to eat, sleep, and wench. His character had a lot of potential that was never developed. There was ALOT of combat detail that I am not a big fan of. However, the writing was interesting and comical at times. I am ordering the second of the series to see if Arn developes a personality. The relationship betweens brothers was sadly lukewarm. Maybe Arn will grow in the 2nd book.

Editorial Review:

Living by his wits on the streets of a biologically mutated future America, young Arn is discovered to be the bastard son of the King of Kenesee and is transformed into a child king charged with leading his people in battle.

AN EXCELLENT ENDING TO ONE OF THE BETTER SERIES I HAVE READ. GREAT CHARACTERS, INTERESTING STORY LINE AND YES SOMEONE GETS KILLED OFF. READ ALL THREE BOOKS IN THIS SERIES, THEY FLOW EASILY THROUGH THE MIND.

Editorial Review:

Once one nation became Six, and death defined their borders.

All memory of a great society called America has vanished in the passing centuries since the Cataclysm. Much that was lost. All that will be is in peril.

Once a street beggar known as "Scar" became a prince named Arn.

A bastard prince is called once again to sacrifice for his brother's kingdom, and for the future, in this newly dawned age of fragile armistice. On the far side of a vast, nightmarish landscape of bloodthirsty warriors and mutant beasts--in a mysterious land on a far western shore--treachery threatens to undermine the ancient Codes that would prevent a reoccurrence of the disaster that devoured a civilization. And Arn must lead a small band of might and magic through hell--and into the unknown and subtle terrors that await them in Pacifica--to build a lasting peace. . .or to serve as the instrument of dread annihilation.
