At the top of his game and his sport, Dallas Cowboys' wide receiver Terrell Owens has a phenomenal body: Muscle & Fitness magazine said this when they chose T.O. for the cover, but anyone who's ever seen him play knows he has the best physique in football. Strong, fast, agile, and focused -- when T.O. takes the field, he's in complete control. Such mastery might seem out of reach for an ordinary athlete or someone just starting to think about getting in shape, but T.O. believes that everyone is capable of finding their ideal body. Inside T.O.'s Finding Fitness, Owens shares complete workout routines for beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, all of which can be done using his T.O. Super Strong Man Bands, free weights, or his own strength-training stretches. Photographs, easy-to-follow instructions, and helpful tips from Buddy Primm (T.O.'s personal trainer) guarantee results. Along with plans for general fitness and weight loss, there are separate guides designed to enhance your performance in football, baseball, golf, martial arts, tennis, and basketball. And whether you're looking for the winning catch, the lightning-fast serve, or the money shot at the buzzer, or you just want to keep up with the kids and power through an afternoon at the office, you need the right fuel to stay at the top of your game. T.O. helps you make the right eating decisions with meal plans detailing his choices both in and out of season.

Finally, as any athlete learns, just knowing what to do isn't always enough. not as expected 1 out of 5 stars.

This book is not for someone who has no access to machines. A lot of the book is devoted to the use of gym equipment. I was hoping for more instruction when there are no machines..or trainers....a basic book for beginners. This is not that book.

Editorial Review:

Over 42,000 copies of the previous edition are sold worldwide. This work is aimed at older strength training enthusiasts, as well as fitness professionals who work with this audience. It includes new research, age appropriate exercises and customised conditioning programmes for the over 50s. It includes exercises for free weights and machines, workout plans and nutrition for increasing strength, as well as sport-specific programmes for running, cycling, swimming, skiing, tennis and golf. The authors focus on improving muscle strength progressively with correct exercise techniques and practical protocols, resulting in the lowest risk of injuries, plateaus or setbacks. It features ability-specific programmes, from beginner to advanced.

A Great Bodybuilding Book 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

Having seen every issue of Musclemag International since issue #1, I didn't expect to see anything new with the Encyclopedia of Bodybuilding. I am happily surprised with the great content of this book. It really is an encyclopedia. With chapter titles like The Key to Anabolic Growth, Synthol and Bodybuilding in the Golden Years this is a great book for beginners and veterans alike. Intense routines and a walk down the memory lane of bodybuilding make this one of the best bodybuilding books ever.

Not on par with Arnold's Encyclopedia of BB this is better :D 4 out of 5 stars.

Musclemag is my favourite BB Mag, and Bob Kennedy has written many great books, so I had very high expectations from this book.
Let me tell you that, while it doesn't exceed my expectations it very well satisfy them.
It covers many grounds that Arnold's or Bill Pearl's Encyclopedia's didn't cover, Bob Kennedy is a great writer and publisher, this book is another testimonial for that fact.

Complete Solution for Increasing Strength 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

A great holistic approach to increasing strength. You get warm-ups with foam roller and mobility exercises, 4 day a week upper/lower body split routine, nutrition suggestions and even a chapter on the "muscle between your ears". I plan on finishing the 16 week routine by end of October and then repeating it next February.

A fantastic book 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

This book is outstanding. Eric has generated a program that will help nearly anyone get stronger, no matter where you're starting out at. The warm-ups themselves are worth the price of the book, and the program itself is amazing.

The exercises are clearly described and the pictures really help illustrate the intent of each exercise. Overall, a very, very good product.

Editorial Review:

Most of the 23 million American men who lift weights do so to get bigger; unfortunately, many of them are going nowhere with watered-down bodybuilding routines that don’t help them actually get stronger. Eric Cressey’s cutting-edge four-phase program, featuring constant progression, variation, and inspiring goals, keeps you focused on increasing strength along with muscle mass, helping you achieve the fittest, most energetic, and best-looking body you’ve ever had-with fewer hours at the gym.

Endurance athletes regularly push their bodies to the limits with strenuous training regimens that demand smart nutrition. This book provides sound nutritional guidelines to boost athletic performance in triathlon, cycling, swimming, distance running, cross-country skiing, mountain biking, cyclo-cross, and adventure racing. First, Monique Ryan creates an excellent all-purpose sports diet. Based on the building blocks of a balanced diet — carbohydrates, proteins, fats, as well as fluid, vitamin, and mineral requirements — the diet forms the foundation of the endurance athlete's good health. Individual chapters then offer detailed nutritional advice for athletes training and competing in specific sports. Ryan offers healthy approaches to losing body fat and building muscle and clearly explains the different nutritional needs of training, racing, and recovery. Also included in this practical, easy-to-use guide are tips on meal planning, shopping lists, sample menus, advice for vegetarians, and a review of popular ergogenic aids.

Best one for athletes! 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I have read several books on the mental game in sports and this is by far the best. I work with collegiate and professional athletes and recommend this so often that Gary Mack should send me a commission!!!

not what i expected 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

a solid read, but i was expecting a book that got more into the intricacies of sports psychology, but this book seems to focus more on your thinking off the court then on it.

Well-written and entertaining 4 out of 5 stars.

If you want to read an inspiring book on the power of the mind in sports, then this book is for you. It is not too packed with information, but it underlines many of the important points in mental coaching. Great stories and examples make it an uplifting read. The only thing missing was a step-by-step instruction guide to mind management - practice makes perfect.

Editorial Review:

Drawing on his work with some of the top teams in professional sports, noted sport psychology consultant Gary Mack shares with you the same techniques and exercises he uses to help elite athletes build mental "muscle." These 40 accessible lessons and inspirational anecdotes will help you gain the "head edge" over the competition.

Editorial Review:

You probably look at elite athletes and think they have something you don't. Certainly, they can do things the rest of us can't, but they have the same muscles and require the same food. They have to strike a balance between exercise and recovery, or they'll wear down. They need to get leaner and stronger without compromising their endurance or flexibility. And if they don't train intelligently and cautiously, they'll get hurt. Same as you.

Of course, athletes have hours a day to train, and you're probably lucky if you can squeeze in 60 minutes. So it's no wonder that you focus on one or two types of exercise--aerobics, bodybuilding, Pilates, yoga, kickboxing, or Tae-Bo--and assume you don't have time to work on all the other aspects of fitness.

Core Performance is the first program that delivers strength and muscle mass, endurance and a lean body, balance and flexibility, athletic quickness and power--all in less than an hour a day. How? By giving you a personal coach who has worked with some of the most famous and successful athletes in the world today.

Mark Verstegen, owner of Athletes' Performance in Tempe, Arizona, and Carson, California, has trained the best of the best: Nomar Garciaparra. Mia Hamm. Roberto Alomar. Mary Pierce. When Verstegen trains an athlete, millions of dollars in salary and signing bonuses are at stake. Bottom line: If he didn't deliver, he'd be out of business. And he's busier than ever.
What works for these gifted athletes will work for you. Sure, you can't do as much exercise as they do, but you don't need to. It takes less than an hour a day to build the type of fitness that improves your life in almost every way. You can straighten your posture, eliminate aches and pains, sleep better, and approach everything you do with more vigor and a better attitude.
Sure, you will get bigger muscles, a tighter waist, and more strength and power. But the biggest benefits come from the inside. The intense focus on the muscles of your core--abdominals, lower back, hips, and thighs--will help you stand taller and prevent the back pain from which most people eventually suffer. The detailed nutrition section guarantees that you'll feed your muscles, starve your fat, and get boundless energy when you need it most. And the attention you'll pay to recovery from your workouts will give you a straight path to the results you want.

li0The potential is within you, and the power to unleash that potential is within Core Performance.
