I just received the 2004 edition from the publisher (54th Edition), and like all of the others I've purchased through the years, it is a treasure.

Although I have owned and operated a yacht in the past (the Wild Goose, a 36' ketch-rigged trimaran), I am now boatless. But you don't need to own a boat to appreciate and find this volume useful. Are you contemplating a vacation in the vicinity of the Bahamas, Turks, Caicos, or the Dominican Republic? If you are, you will find this volume useful. Of course, if you are a yachty, you'll find it indispensable. Don't leave home without it.

What's in it? Maps, charts (not navigational, but informational), photos, drawings (especially of islands as seen from the sea--very useful if you're on a boat, viewing a strange landfall) and page after page of details and decriptions of available facilities.

This book is updated yearly, and is just what the doctor ordered when you are entering a strange port without "local knowledge." And for the tourist, the same thing applies. For the skipper and crew of a small yacht, it's indispensable. For the tourist, it's a very handy guide.

Worth the $ for adventurers that like off beaten track sites 3 out of 5 stars.

Real information on what to do, geared more for the adventurer.Maps nothing special.Brief history coverage. No real prices, only "budget, moderate." Not a complete travel guide, but gives good ideas of what to do on the islands. Use this for some non-touristy sites and to do's, but buy more complete guide for hotels and car rentals, etc. Covers all islands, though not real detailed.

I thought from the advertisement & description that this map would include road details that would allow me to use it as my source for traveling around the island of Nassau. NOT SO! There are only very basic roads shown and not nearly enough detail. Additionally, this is only a map, NOT a book! AMAZON charges you book rate to ship, which means you are going to pay approximately 4 times the actual cost for shipping! I am a regular shopper here and am typically satisfied, but NOT this time!

The photographs are excellent, sharing the Bahamian lifestyle with the viewer. For those that do in-depth research prior to their travels, this is informative covering history and major sites. Highly recommend for the interesting coverage of sites. Not detailed enough for the actual trip planning. Worth the purchase for those who want more then the basic go see this and go do that.
