what a boring book! 1 out of 5 stars.
2 of 6 people found this review helpful.

We didn't finish the book because we found it completely unerotic and asexual. The author tells you for instance to bring safety pins to hold your toga in place and to bring toenail polish because the sand on the beach will wear it off. Wow!!! The stories told are all childish fun, but there's not a single one titillating. Puritan lack of sexuality. Boring.

great book 5 out of 5 stars.

my fiance finished this book in one sitting and it took me two sittings. This book is a must have for anyone considering a trip to hedonism 2 (or three). and for those who aren't considering the trip it is still very well written and entertaining. over all well worth the purchase price.

Editorial Review:

Everyone returns from Hedonism II, an adult resort in Jamaica, with at least one good story no one at home believes. "The Naked Truth About Hedonism II" is a collection of those cheeky stories and a bawdy travel guide for making the most of a trip to this resort that sports a 90% repeat guest rate--the highest of any Caribbean hotel. Sporting 43 color photos and 18 black-and-white ones, the book is sure to open your eyes and make you bust a gut laughing at the antics of the goofy guests who keep coming back for more silliness and naked games.

Good (but not for Kingston!) 3 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

This map is a good overview of the island and is fairly accurate. However, beware: Although it is dated 2006, it was clearly made some time ago - many rural roads marked are hard to find because there are so many new settled areas on the island, and many perfectly passable routes exist that are not marked. Best to ask locals. The map of Kingston bears only a passing resemblance to the city on the ground - there is a whole bypass at teh eastern end of the city that is not marked, and many street names have changed. There is also a new (as in 10 years old) toward Gordontown that is hard to navigate with this map. If you are planning to drive in Kingston and don't want inadvertant adventures, get a newer map from a Gas Station in town.

Editorial Review:

Folded road and travel map in color. Scale 1:250,000. Distinguishes roads ranging from national highways to rural roads. Legend includes railways and station, international airports, airstrips, points of interest, public beaches, hotels, museums, gas stations, bus terminals, ferry terminals/routes, sugar estates, golf courses, National Parks. Entire back of the map features Kingston and Portmore (1:23,000). Jamaica map includes inset of Montego Bay (1:23,000), Ocho Rios (1:18,000), Port Antonio (1:20,000), Mandeville (1:25,000) and Spanish Town (1:25,000).

Excellent Resource 5 out of 5 stars.

I'm getting ready to go to Jamaica for the fourth time and I (once again) read this book cover to cover and you can bet it'll be in my suitcase too. It's absolutely essential if you aren't planning to hide in an all-inclusive hotel (or even if you are and you plan to get out). The book is sort of geared towards the adventurous traveler, the one that wants to get into the culture and off the beaten path. Still, the coverage of major resort areas is very, very good.

Restaurants, places to stay in EVERY price range (wanna camp for $10 a night? Spend $400 a night in an all-inclusive?), fun things to do, what they cost, history - this book has it all and it has it in great depth. It has details on the waterfalls that aren't overflowing with tourists, where to get a Red Stripe in tiny towns on the south coast, what to bring, what not to bring, and most of all, what to expect. I enjoyed being able to talk with Jamaicans about politics and history with the knowledge base I got from this book.

Can't wait for the next edition, due this month...

Editorial Review:

Capturing the vibrancy of the island and its inhabitants with sensitivity and humor, Jamaica Handbook describes the flora and fauna and explains the customs, from appropriate beach attire to situations that call for haggling. From family-friendly botanic gardens in Kingston to the most dynamic reggae festivals on the island, this guide includes everything travelers to Jamaica need to know.

Negative 1 out of 5 stars.

I can't believe I just paid $45 for an inflight magazine for Air Jamaica which is distributed for FREE on flights.

Had I doubled the cost, I would have had airfare on Air Jamaica and a FREE INFLIGHT MAGAZINE.

What a joke.

Editorial Review:

An anthology of articles featured in SkyWritings magazine over the last 30 years. Skywritings Magazine is the In Flight magazine of Air Jamaica and one of Jamaica's best known magazines.

This book, although no longer in print is a must have in any Jamaican's library. Ray Chen's photos are vivid and alive with the true spirit of Jamaica. This book is a great conversation piece for people trying to learn more about Jamaica. It is probably the closest you can get to experiencing Jamaica's beauty without hopping on a plane and flying there yourself!

Closest you'll come to Jamaica in pictures 5 out of 5 stars.

This should be on the coffe table of every Jamaican and anyone who has a love for this beautiful country. This book is large hard cover and the vivid and beautiful pictures capture the essence of Jamaica. It goes beyond the beaches to the everyday - the school children, the old churches, the road side jerk chicken stand. Each picture is large, colorful and alive!!! You will love this book.
