Contains lot's of interesting history and background information which can add "depth" to your travel experience. Nice photos and some suggestions on what to do and see. But, it's not really a travel guidebook.

Feeling "alive" is commonly used to describe the state when you are energized, excited, full of life! And that's exactly what these books inspire -- a feeling of eagerness to explore and discover. Alive! Guides are a refreshing change from the "same-old" guidebooks. They are written for the savvy traveler who is looking for quality and value in accommodations and dining, with a selection of activities to fill the days and nights. Each book's introduction covers the basic travel information, including climate, when to go, what to pack, history, package tours, geography and -- for overseas destinations -- currency concerns and health issues. Daytime pursuits are detailed in the "Sunup to Sundown" section, which cover the best beaches, walking tours, driving excursions, nature trips and sightseeing. Shopping plays a big part, with tips on how to barter in island crafts markets and where to find the best deals. Anyone interested in the Caribbean will enjoy this book. Beautifully written, it explores the magnificence of St. Kitts and captures the spirit and soul of the island's people. Personal experiences and fascinating anecdotes provide colorful examples of "de life."

There are a lot of good books out there on island life, island living, moving to and sailing around Caribbean islands. Unfortunately, this isn't one of them. I was variously angry and astonished at Harrington's attitude and seeming obliviousness to her own ignorance. An upper-middle-class American couple transplants its lifestyle and sensibilities to a Caribbean island? So what? I'm left wondering why they bothered, and why I bothered buying this book.

They also found the history of the island especially intriguing, since they discovered closer ties to their own country than they realized. If you are considering retirement, you can learn from their experiences. Caribbean island life is an interesting option to explore.

I just returned from a trip to St. Kitts and Nevis and found this book very useful, from the time I was selecting a hotel until I was on the island and looking for a place to eat. Through this guide, I learned about many out of the way spots that were overlooked by other guides. I am looking forward to using other sections of the book on a trip next year to St. Martin and Anguilla.

I wish I had met this book before I went to St. Kitts & Nevis for the first time. It tells you everything about them and you can count on it. Very easy to find out what to do, where to go, stay and eat. Very organized and easy to read. Many pictures in this book.
