Stomp your feet!!! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

What a treat to buy this for a friend's baby. My youngest child LOVED this book because as others have pointed out, it is fantastic! Just reading the words results in a great rhyme and makes you dance. You can't help it. Babies love it, toddlers love it, and parents love to read it, even the 4,999th time. It makes everyone smile. We wore the cover off and had to buy multiple copies. What a great author, love all her books but this is by far our fave.

THE BEST KIDS BOOK EVER! 5 out of 5 stars.

This is one of my son's favorites. We stomp our feet and clap our hands, do the dance with the book. He picks this book over most! He gets ready to stomp right when he hands the book to me, I love that;)
You can't go wrong with this book. You will love this book as much as your child will.

Adorable Book 4 out of 5 stars.

This is incredibly engaging story and captivated both my 3 year old and 7 year old children. Not too long..not too short. Both my girls want to hear it over and over! You will not be disappointed with the illustrations...beautiful and well done!

A Wonderful Book 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is also very cute for children. Marley is an overly exuberant puppy, who gets into mischief, but he's a member of a family who love him, no matter what!

Editorial Review:

Mommy, Daddy, Cassie, and Baby Louie welcome Marley, their new Labrador pup, into their family. But Marley doesn't stay a tiny puppy for long. He grows and grows, and the bigger Marley gets, the bigger trouble he gets into. Big, bad-boy trouble. Whether it's chewing Mommy's reading glasses or swallowing Daddy's paycheck, Marley is a dog like no other. He tries to be a good dog, honest he does, but everything he tries ends up bad. Then one day Marley goes too far. Will this family have to find a new home for their big, crazy, pure-hearted dog?

Inspired by John Grogan's bestselling memoir, Marley & Me, this heartwarming story shows that loving someone, flaws and all, can reap huge rewards.

A true bedtime story 5 out of 5 stars.

This is a great book that I would recommend to all for those quite moments just before sleep. This gentle story leads you through an array of animals as they settle down for the night. I find the pictures great and the gentle rhythm of the book a delight. I could not as more of a bedtime story.

Wonderful, wonderful book! 5 out of 5 stars.

This is absolutely a lovely book. The illustrations are soothing for bedtime, and the rhythmic story makes for a perfect bedtime story. I have been reading this to my son since he was born, and he still loves it at 3 years old. Great bonding experience with this wonderful story.

Editorial Review:

Darkness is falling everywhere and little ones are getting sleepy, feeling cozy, and being tucked in. It’s time for a wide yawn, a big hug, and a snuggle under the covers--sleep tight! “Working beautifully with the soothingly repetitive text, each painting conveys a warm feeling of safety and affection.”--School Library Journal

Great Classic Book 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

My 3 year old son loves this book. When we go for a walk around the neighborhood, he wants to pretend that we are going on a "bear hunt" and we recite the book. Great book for imagination.

We love this book 4 out of 5 stars.

This is apparently a classic camp song - not one I ever heard growing up, though.

My nieces request this book a *minimum* of once a week (and usually, once they request it, they want me to read it over and over again to boot!), and we love it every time. Then they often want me to help them reenact the story - I'll be the bear, then they'll be the bear, then the teddy bear will be the bear....

If you're paying attention as you read it, you can even see the various members of the family change their mood as the story goes on and they get hit with various forms of minor disasters.

Classic Book 5 out of 5 stars.

This is my favorite version of this classic book. I give it as gifts to children who are beginning to love books and reading.

Editorial Review:

Winner of the 1989 Smarties Book Prize and highly commended for the 1989 Kate Greenaway Medal, this picture book tells of a family going in search of a bear in a cave.

read it to kids - edition is for grownups, but the stories are for everyone! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This volume gathers Curious George and the six original books in the series:

1) Curious George
2) ...Takes a Job
3) ...Rides a Bike
4) ...Gets a Medal
5) ...Flies a Kite
6) ...Learns the Alphabet
7) ...Goes to the Hospital

I was given this as a nostalgic birthday gift a few years ago and was greatly charmed. I don't even think I read all of those when I was little, so it was sweet to see them again after so many years. Curious George is the story of the "man in the yellow hat" who has brought back an inquisitive and mischievous monkey, Curious George. The stories usually involve a jungle-raised monkey getting into all kinds of trouble in the city, but all ends well and George comes home safely in the end - and no one really can stay mad at him.

This book is a handsome edition with a good binding and high quality printing. (The colors look good, etc.) I don't really like the glossy pages for book that will be loved to pieces by a child, but if you want this for a gift edition, it's perfect. I suggest having this as something you would read to a child, since it's kind of big and you wouldn't want to drop it on a grown-up foot.

Editorial Review:

Curious George, the monkey with the talent for trouble, has delighted millions of readers for more than fifty years. Now fans can have all seven of the original Curious George titles in one complete volume. Stories included in this collector's edition are Curious George, Curious George Takes a Job, Curious George Rides a Bike, Curious George Gets a Medal, Curious George Flies a Kite, Curious George Learns the Alphabet, and Curious George Goes to the Hospital.

Stop and smell the flowers... 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This is not a review, others have done that excellently, it is a memory. When i was eight, Ferdinand was my favourite. Thirty eight years later and unremembered until finding it just now, the flashback was so intense i could hardly finish reading the Amazon review through tears of nostalgia. I smelled the flowers and felt that simple happiness that Ferdinand radiated all over again. If you want your child to enjoy a great yarn, be engaged by intense illustrations, learn to be peaceable and stay true to themselves, and have a powerful remembrance of a book later in life, get them "The Story of Ferdinand".

Blessed are the Ferdinands... 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I am 44 years old and yesterday, at our Thanksgiving celebration at a relative's home, I came to read this wonderful book for the first time. I was so touched by it, really all choked up as I read about Ferdinand. I just couldn't hold back my tears. I will be reading this book to my 71 children, at the public school where I run an After School Program. This is a marvelous book and I recommed it to parents, teachers, educators and anyone else interested in planting seeds of peace into the hearts of others, specially children. I am Ferdinand, and I am happy. I also fell in love with his mother... what a loving, sweet cow....

Editorial Review:

Published over 50 years ago, The Story of Ferdinand is one of the bestselling children's books of all time, and the bull who preferred sitting under the cork tree and smelling flowers to fighting has become a hero to generations of children.

This book has been purchased as a holiday gift for my granddaughter, who is in first grade and 5 years old.

Loveable characters and rhythmic language make for a great children's book 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

In this charming tale sure to become a favorite among young readers, Bear will sleep through anything, even through the boisterous party going on in his very own lair. The opening scene of Bear Snores On (Simon and Schuster Children's, 2003), written by Karma Wilson and illustrated by Jane Chapman, shows bear deep in slumber, tucked away from the wintry weather outside his cave. When a mouse, seeking shelter, enters Bear's cave, Bear snores on. What then follows is a gradual gathering of animals in Bear's cozy cave, sharing honey-nuts, munching on popcorn, and sipping black tea. All the while, Bear snores on. When the tiniest bit of pepper sends Bear into a sneezing fit, however, the animals' party comes to an abrupt halt, and Bear, while at first appearing quite menacing, is overcome with sadness when he learns that the animals didn't include him in their lively activities. In an attempt to console the bear, the mouse tells him that the party has just started. Chapman's captivating illustrations, which distinguish the coziness enjoyed by the lively animal characters from the blustery outdoors, and Wilson's catchy chorus enhance the story's heartwarming plot as well as punctuate the ironic humor of final scene in which Bear stays up, but his animal friends fall fast asleep.

Editorial Review:

It seems like Bear can sleep through anything. As a succession of animals enter his cave to escape the fierce storm, he continues to snore. Mouse makes a fire, Hare cooks popcom, Badger brings treats...They are having a great time. But when Bear wakes up and realises he's missed out on the fun, his visitors fear the worst. Can Bear be persuaded to join the party? This read-aloud rhyming story has fun, suspense and a happy ending with Chapman's absorbing illustrations perfectly depicting the companionship of the warm, cosy cave and the contrast with the wild storm outside.

Olivia and Babe are my favorite pigs 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 7 people found this review helpful.

I love a children's book that begins the story on the end pages (located just inside the covers). How creative! What fun! That's just where Ian Falconer begins his story of Olivia, my favorite children's book character.

Olivia is the child you want, but fear having--creative, impulsive, talented, energetic, headstrong, in other words, too much personality, a difficult and gifted child. At the same time you love her anyway!

Falconer has cleverly chosen to draw Olivia in black and white and add touches of one bright color. In this, his first Olivia book, he chose red. One thing about Olivia is that she wears people out with her antics, even herself. One of the best scenes is the one where she tries on ALL her clothes--all red pieces--dresses, purses, hats, undies, tops, muffs, sneakers, backpacks, caps, bikinis, and one pair of gray panty hose.

Today the family goes to the beach where Olivia makes a sand castle that looks like a skyscraper ("She got pretty good"). After Olivia sunburns, they go home. She refuses to nap. Her mother takes her to museums on rainy days where she studies paintings by Degas and, of course, dreams of being the ballerina. At the Jackson Pollock painting, she declares she could do that in five minutes and does so when she gets home (much to Mom's chagrin).

That night her mother reads to her a story about Maria Callas (notice how Falconer works in cultural elements?).

"When it's time to stop, Olivia's mother gives her a kiss and says, 'You know, you really wear me out. But I love you anyway.'
"And Olivia gives her a kiss back and says, 'I love you anyway, too.'" Then dreams of being an opera star.

Editorial Review:

Olivia is a gorgeous little pig who likes to dress up, sing songs, dance, think, snooze and is even quite good at making sandcastles. At the end of the day she snuggles up in bed and her mother reads her a story and Olivia feels very full of love.

Editorial Review:

What does an elephant do? It stomps its foot. Can you? From the creator of such beloved classics as The Grouchy Ladybug and The Mixed-Up Chameleon comes this interactive story that invites kids to imitate animal movements. Watching giraffes bend their necks or monkeys wave their arms is fun, but nothing could be better than joining in. From their heads down to their toes, kids will be wriggling, jiggling, and giggling as they try to keep up with these animals!Alligators wiggle, elephants stop, gorillas thump, and giraffes bend. Can you do it? ‘ I can do it!’ is the confidence-building message of this fun-filled interactive picture book. A variety of familiar animals invite young children to copy their antics, and as they play, they will learn such important skills as careful listening, focusing attention, and following instructions. Just as alphabet books introduce the very young child to letters and simple words, From Head to Toe introduces the basic body parts and simple body movements. And in the same way that children progress from understanding simple words to reading and writing sentences and stories, so they will progress from simple body movements to dancing, gymnastics, and other sports and activities, with confidence and pleasure.

Eric Carle's colorful collages have delighted children for more than a generation. Each book provides hours of fun while encouraging them to stretch their imaginations. His matchless words and illustrations now send out a new challenge:
Are you ready?
Here we go!
Move yourself
From Head to Toe.
