I brought this book and a few similar ones on vacation and my daughter and I had a great time coloring them. I had made copies before we left home so we'd have the originals for the future. My daughter likes to use colored pencils and I like to use the fine tip markers. What beautiful works of art we created. We also picked up the Dover Decorative Tiles book (easier for older children/adults since the patterns are more intricate) and Dover Pinwheel Designs book which is more geometric patterns. You can share hours of fun with your children with these books.

This is one of the best coloring books I have ever owned. I ordered two other mandala coloring books, but this one seems to be my favorite. The only problems I have with it is that the mandalas are printed on both sides of the page. The other two books are printed on one side, which helps prevent some color leakage, since I use markers over colored pencils. The other issue I have is that some of the designs do seem repetitive, but still all in all it's a great book.

I am very impressed with this book. It was all I had hoped it would be. I am also impressed with how fast it arrived and I didn't have to pay S & H! There are so many stories I can't wait to read to my granddaughter and the illustrations are just beautiful.I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves children's books.

this is truly a treasury and a treasure - the big book version here gives a child the Big Picture - since little kids love little books their size, i would also get them one of the boxed sets of the little books for them to carry around and read on their own - also consider buying the audio cd so a child can read/listen to the stories over and over but an adult doesn't haven't to read them over and over to them --- and you must watch the dvd of Miss Potter, which was a very special movie in all ways - give yourself the complete Beatrix Potter experience!

I remember this one only vaguely from childhood. But when a friend loaned it to us recently, I had to buy our own copy.

There are three stories inside:
Yertle the Turtle -- be considerate
(something about Gertie's tail feather) -- be content
The Big Brag -- be humble

(sorry I can't remember the name of the second one -- the book is tucked away in the slumbering bedroom and I am NOT going in there to check it)

The morals of the stories are accessible at the kindergarten level -- and nice reminders for adults too.

The rhyming and meter, as always with Dr. Seuss, are great. Just perfect for reading out loud. Easy for the kids to memorize the lines, too.

This one deserves a spot next to Green Eggs and Ham and all the rest.

I recently read this book to my grandchildren. As I was reading it, I realized that the book described a situation that was occurring in my own career. The more I read, the bigger my smile became. I realized that I was Mack and my co-worker was Yertle. As I finished the book, I told my grandsons that this was by far and away my favorite Dr. Seuss book. They asked why and I told them that sometimes in life, people seeking more and more power and greed will try to step on you and it's up to you to stand up for yourself.

Great book, great morale to the story.

I teach Kindergarten, and these little books are just perfect for beginning readers. Also, although the pictures are very simple line drawings, the text and drawings are clever and often humorous.

These book sets are AWESOME! I originally purchased these sets for my daughter who wanted to learn to read when she was 3 years old. She quickly picked up the word patterns and was reading at a 2nd to 3rd grade level by Kindergarten. Now, at 12, she's reading at a post high school level. I recently reordered all the sets for my nephew who was struggling at his 1st grade level. He didn't like to read, but these books give kids the instant gratification and feeling of accomplishment and now he can't wait to move to the next book! Books are worth every penny!

My Book About Me

This book is great! My young reader loves the interactiveness of being able to count all the steps in the house, find out the color of his eyes and tell all the things about his life at this moment. I'm thinking about adding some scrapbook pages for each year for some of the questions that will change over time.

The best part is, I can show him My Book About Me that I completed in the 1970's.

Wonderful book! I've bought three copies over the years for three of my kids/grandkids when they were 5 or 6 years old. It's their book, to write the answers in (in fact the first thing is to have the kid write his name in it!), to read and figure out, etc. Highly recommended both for the parent/grandparent - and, more importantly, for the kid.

My sister and I had this book when we were kids. She filled hers out when she was about 5 (1976) and I did mine when I was 8 (1986). My mom saved them and it was so fun to go through when she brought them out!

The book is great. It allows kids to draw a picture, write a story and answer questions about themselves. Even if they aren't reading yet it's something parents and kids can work on together. Somethings are a little harder to figure out (# of steps to closest store) but it really is fun.

It does need a little updating (a newer edition maybe)... when it asks what country you live in it still has East Germany, West Germany and the Soviet Union as options. Now I understand it is hard to keep up with all the small changing countries, but those are pretty major! But that's the only thing. Even that could be a teaching moment for parents and kids. I am buying several as gifts this Christmas.

I remember enjoying these books as a boy and love sharing them with my son. Besides being enjoyable stories with admirable characters they are great for teaching reading. Solving the puzzles requires reading with attention to the details, logic and imagination. Sometimes young readers would rather skip difficult to read details but with these books they know they need to get each word.

This is a wonderful book for boys who like adventure. My son is dyslexic and doesn't like to read but is required to read 3 over the summer. It's hard to get him interested in any book, but he liked these, and they are a fairly easy read but still sophisticated enough to keep a 10 year old interested.

This was purchased as a stocking stuffer, and is a great value for the price. The little princess I bought it for is using it as something fun to help her learn to read, and also allows her to be creative at the same time. This + a box of crayons or other colorful writing utensils provides hours of fun.

This coloring book is really sweet. Each page shoes a pivotal scene in the movie(s). The pages can suit a variety of ranges in experience. Even I've got back into the act of coloring (says the 34 year old).

My one gripe with this particular coloring book is that you walk away asking yourself if there are any places where you can by just the pink and blue crayons.

This is a huge book I bought for use at daycamp. The only issue the kids had was when there were two equally awesome pictures on either side of a page.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl is about Charlie, a generous boy whose family is very poor. Charlie hopes to win admission to Wonka's fabulous chocolate factory which is finally open to five people. I enjoy how Roald Dahl describes imaginary characters and the interesting machines in the factory. At the factory, Charlie meets four other children who have one thing in common: they all represent naughty children in one way or another. The other children can be described as sassy or obsessed or bulging or lazy. They are all extremely unhelpful, and they expect other people to do all the work for them. Charlie is different. He is helpful, and he works hard to make his family happy. I think that there should be a scene that shows Charlie making a good choice in the factory instead of just standing there watching other kids make bad choices. I think that the book is good for readers in second to seventh grades because it is a complicated story with exciting and unpredictable characters. I liked Charlie and the Chocolate Factory so much that I chose to read the sequel!

This book is a wonderful adaptation of the famous tale.

It is art as much as a book, and like others I would recommend reading this book to younger readers (as oppossed to letting them handle it)

I have always loved pop up books since I was a child, and this one is one of the best.

This is a truly excellent version of Lewis Carroll's classic. The 7 two page spreads are gorgeous. The first spread contains Alice reading, the White Rabbit, and the tree that the White Rabbit is walking away from; its dimensions are 11 inches wide and tall, and 8 inches deep. The full text is contained in a mini-book embellishment with each spread. These mini-books are astonishing! They're very colorful with additional pop-ups.
