Thanks Rick 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Rick led us to some of the nicest places in Brugge. I didn't get to experience Amsterdam (which claims about half the pages in the book), but the information on Belgium and Brugge was great. He has some really excellent B&B recommendations. If you end up in Brugge, definitely go see Scottish Maggie :)

The "BestEver" Intro Book for a Overview of Hospitality! 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 7 people found this review helpful.

I have been teaching the college lever intro course for well over 20 years. I have used many text and supplemented same. John's book is succinct, well written and dosen't bore you with trivia. Students thinking about a career in hospitality are interested in finding out all they can in a short period of time what the hospitality industry has to offer. Walker's book, I have used as Department Chair at two colleges, is still the best book on the market. John quickly exposes the unsuspecting student
to a array of opportunities that many of them never thought that they could get to via a career in the hospitality industry. The stero typical notion of HRIM Majors being "Burger Flippers" is quickly dispelled when John's book is used along with supplemental material demonstrating further connections to many facets of the service industry.

I thank John Walker many times over for his diligence in keeping consistent the material with regular updates. Other books are good, but John's is the best. Afer more than 44 times of teaching this class, I will stick with John's text. It is an sperb read for those who are either beginning a career or who may be searching for a place to start. It also ties in nicely with other courses that often capture a readers interest to continue on and seek out more information. It is a great recruitment tool if used well.

Colorado's Fourteeners 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I have climbed two of the Fourteeners listed in this book and I wish I had this book before doing so. The book is simply, in my opinion, the best, most complete guide to climbing these mountains that I could possibly imagine. I'm doing four more this month and I've used this book to do all the planning, including which TOPOs to buy and which trailheads to use and which routes up the mountains to take. He provides excellent maps in the book itself and great descriptions of each ascent. He also carefully describes the different levels of difficulty a climber/hiker will encounter and applies those definitions systematically throughout his book. It's a first rate guide and worth every penny paid.

Editorial Review:

An accurate, complete guide to climbing the 55 peaks over 14,000 feet in Colorado--covering routes for all levels. Each route's difficulty is rated according to the Yosemite Decimal System. Includes round-trip mileage and elevation gain. Roach has climbed every peak in this guide. Photographs and maps.

A must have guide to Paris Patisseries 4 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I love that this book is devoted to Paris' Patisseries, chocolate shops, and tea shops. When you go to Paris, these are special treats for the eyes and taste buds. Even if you are not traveling, it's a luxury to read the description of each shop's specialty and salivate at the photos.

This book lists the vendors by Arrondissement; and there is an index by business type and alphabetical listing. There are beautiful photos and a description of each shop.

Since the book is small (pocket size), the prints are tiny, I wish they used a bolder font. Also, you have to read through the text to find out what the author liked the most about each shop. The reading is great, but if I'm in one Arrond. and trying to figure out which shop to visit, it would be great to have the special dishes highlighted under each shop, to make them easier to find. Maybe make more use of a sidebar to highlight that info?

Editorial Review:

Parisians know that a perfect pain au chocolat or wild strawberry tart is among life's greatest pleasures. But which patisserie has the most intensely flavored macarons, the most sophisticated chocolates, or a croissant that is truly beyond compare? In the pages of The Patisseries of Paris, you'll find the most enticing sweets in Pairs. You'll discover what time of day Parisians in the know get items as they come out of the oven, the museums with the most stylish cafes, and other charming spots for light meals. This is the essential guide for anyone who wants to experience French culture, bite by delicious bite.

2008 Trailer Life Directory 5 out of 5 stars.
16 of 19 people found this review helpful.

Although there are many RV campsites along the roadway a publication such as this gives the RVer the information of various RV campgrounds and their amenities so an informed decision can be made when selecting a good place to stop. This publication with its comprehensive information makes it easy to find a campground in any state. Selecting a campground is a breeze and that adds to the enjoyment of RVing.

Editorial Review:

One of the great themes in American culture is leisure travel, and the motorhome is perhaps the single most evocative symbol of that carefree lifestyle. But where to travel to? The number, variety, and quality of parks can be daunting. The annual Trailer Life Directory guides both seasoned and first-time travelers through the maze of information. This guide contains over 12,000 listings of RV parks, profiled and ranked by a rating system developed exclusively by Trailer Life Enterprises. It’s all here: service and repair facilities, Good Sam Discount locations (the only complete guide to these), state fishing licensing regulations and fees, and Canadian road and highway telephone numbers. Also here are bridge, ferry, tunnel, and tollway data, seasonal temperature maps, tourism offices, Internet access, and ATM availability. The 2008 directory includes important, up-to-date information on traveling with pets and a special editorial on Quebec’s 400th anniversary.

Must Have Book If You Goto Yellowstone 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This book was amazing! I received it almost a month before I was going on a 5 day adventure to Yellowstone. I planned my whole trip using this book and it was amazing the things I saw and learned. Yellowstone has little sign's that will point you in the right direction but this book sent you places that most people have never seen! While out on my adventure I showed and recommended the book to many people. They were all amazed at the things in this book and went right to the Yellowstone bookstore and purchased it. I found that 5 days was not enough to view everything in this book and Yellowstone.
