Must Have Book If You Goto Yellowstone 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This book was amazing! I received it almost a month before I was going on a 5 day adventure to Yellowstone. I planned my whole trip using this book and it was amazing the things I saw and learned. Yellowstone has little sign's that will point you in the right direction but this book sent you places that most people have never seen! While out on my adventure I showed and recommended the book to many people. They were all amazed at the things in this book and went right to the Yellowstone bookstore and purchased it. I found that 5 days was not enough to view everything in this book and Yellowstone.

Not What I Expected 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 6 people found this review helpful.

This book was not what I expected - I would not recommend it at all. It stayed in the car packed away. I also bought Scenic Driving Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, 2nd (Scenic Driving Series) and Outdoor Family Guide to Yellowstone & Grand Teton National Parks (Outdoor Family Guides) which were excellent.

Editorial Review:

Frommer's Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks is packed with all the facts, tips and descriptions you need to have perfect park vacation, in a pocket size guide:
  • The most memorable park experiences, from Old Faithful and Mammoth Hot Springs, to Snake River raft trips.
  • Great places to stay in and near the parks, ranging from historic lodges to family-friendly motels—plus a complete campground guide for each park.
  • A fully illustrated nature guide to help you spot and identify bald eagles, bison, wildflowers, and more.
  • The best hikes, from ranger-led interpretive walks to challenging backcountry overnights.
  • What to see and do outside of the parks: rodeos, chuckwagon feeds, IMAX nature films, an elk preserve, Jackson Hole’s bars and boutiques, and more.
  • Detailed, accurate park and trail maps

I had this gem under the Christmas tree for my husband. It is such a beautiful book that we keep looking at it together, remembering the beautiful National Parks that we have been to and the ones we plan on visiting in the future. All the photograghs are beautifully shot, and the information provided is enjoyable to read. The best National Park book I have ever seen!

Editorial Review:

Focusing on the light rather than the serious side of outdoor mishaps and ranger life, this is a book which everyone from seasoned outdoorsmen to armchair travelers will find both entertaining and enlightening. In his thirty years with the National Park Service, Jim Burnett saw it all: boat ramp mishaps that launched cars instead of boats; skunks in the outhouse and other wildlife encounters; visitors looking for the bridge over the Grand Canyon; dumb crooks; and much more.

For those who envy the lives of rangers who live and work in national parks, the book also provides some revealing—and humorous—insights into what that job can really entail, including accounts of an amazing variety of situations that prompt people to knock on a ranger’s door in the middle of the night.

The book concludes with some practical "ranger wisdom," illustrated with real-life examples, to help keep readers from becoming a "victim of their vacation" on their next outdoor excursion.

The Imagineering Field guide to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World 5 out of 5 stars.

I found that the Field Guide to the Magic Kingdom Aat Walt Disney World very Infromative

I was pleasantly surprised 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I will admit to being disappointed when I got these books in person and saw how small they are (I purchased the Field Guides for Animal Kingdom and Epcot, as well). I consider myself fairly well versed regarding the parks of WDW as far as attractions, history, trivia, Hidden Mickeys, etc. are concerned. However, I have learned a LOT in these small guides. The guides do an excellent job of presenting how each park tells its own story as a whole and how the individual lands and smaller areas within each park contribute to its story. These guides do not spill behind-the-scenes secrets, so they do NOT spoil the magic; in my opinion, they only enhance it for a Disneyphile. We have gone to WDW almost twice a year for the last few years so we know a lot about the parks. We just returned from a trip and I can't wait to go back to see in person some of the things I've read about. I didn't see a similar guide for Disney Studios; I hope one is in the works.

My only complaint about the books are their size. They are, obviously, meant to be sort of a pocket guide, though this is not the sort of thing I would read while in a park. Because of the small size, the print runs pretty close to the gutter of the book and it is difficult to read at the very inside edges of the pages. I have to really spread the spine open and I'm not sure how well the books will hold up because of that. However, I would still recommend these Field Guides to my fellow sojourners and lovers of Walt Disney World.

Editorial Review:

The first in a series of pocket-sized paperbacks will answer the question, "What would it be like to walk through the Disney Theme Parks with an Imagineer by your side?" The Imagineering Field Guide to The Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World provides that experience: pointing out details and telling stories, back stories, and Imagineering insights never before heard, condensed into a portable, easily-referenced park guide. You'll never spend time at Walt Disney World the same way again. Each spread contains fascinating textual information and related images (drawings, photos, graphics) such as:

Pass On This One!! 1 out of 5 stars.

Don't waste your time on this book. The author spends way too much time tring to be funny and cute. Very little usefull information at all. Try the RV'ers Bible. A much better book. Well written with lots of good information. Again, Pass On This One!

Must have gotten paid by the joke 2 out of 5 stars.

There was some good basic information in this book, but he could have put it in about one-third the space if he cut out all of his stupid jokes, puns, and other silly references. I'd give it a miss, there HAS to be something better, almost anything would be.

Hilarious and Informative 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

The book is funny, no question. Funny and useful, unlike a lot of the dry material out there that still makes RVing seem like the exclusive domain of retirees and old-timers. Lots of good information, easily scannable if you know it and comprehensive if you don't. A great book for beginners.

Editorial Review:

Roam if you want to …

Updated and revised, this guide is for the more than 30 million Americans who are living the RV lifestyle and the millions of others who are thinking about taking the plunge. It provides the necessary information to get the most out of the RV experience, including basic facts regarding the different types of RVs, advice on buying an RV, driving tips, information on how to choose a campground, and much more.
