Don't leave home without it! 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

As an experienced Everglades paddler who has logged over 400 miles in the Everglades backcountry, I can't say enough about this book. Johnny Molloy has provided a level of detail that is truly extraordinary, and his descriptions of the trails and campsites are dead on the money. The maps alone make this book worth having. This book should find a permanent place of your list of indispensable equipment for planning and conducting an Everglades backcountry expedition.

A MUST READ if you plan to paddle the 'Glades 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I found this book extremely helpful; even having paddled the 'Glades twice already. This book will allow me to take "The road less travelled," on this, my third trip thru the 'Glades. I would highly recommend this to anyone planning to paddle the Wilderness Waterway, or parts thereof.

Editorial Review:

For the ultimate adventure by canoe or sea kayak, this guide to paddling the Everglades offers detailed information about every significant paddling route in Everglades National Park. The 53 designated paddling routes--including the renowned Wilderness Waterway, the spine of the paddlers' pathways--provide access to Florida's endangered natural paradise, the wide sheet of water that includes pristine beaches, sun drenched keys, and the world's largest mangrove forest.

Used this every day of our trip 5 out of 5 stars.
8 of 8 people found this review helpful.

We used this book every day we were in Yellowstone. It was such a help in planning each day, knowing where to stop, what to expect in terms of how long hikes were, finding restaurants and shops, etc. I would read the information about each place aloud to the kids, which helped pass the time between stops. One word of caution, though. We are not the type of family that does a lot of hiking, camping, climbing, etc. We did find that some of her descriptions of the difficulty of the hikes and trails were a bit underestimated. Between the heat and the altitude, this is important to keep in mind! Other than that, I think this is a must have!

Excellent! 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 8 people found this review helpful.

This book was right on the money with all the things to see while driving through the parks. In combination with this book Outdoor Family Guide to Yellowstone & Grand Teton National Parks (Outdoor Family Guides) and the Trails Illustrated maps of both parks:
Trails Illustrated Yellowstone Map Old Faithful
Trails Illustrated Mammoth Hotsprings Yellowstone National Park NW
Trails Illustrated Tower Canyon Yellowstone National Park NE
Trails Illustrated Yellowstone Lake Yellowstone National Park SE
National Geographic Trails Illustrated Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming, USA: Topo Map (Trails Illustrated - Topo Maps USA)
(which can also be purchased at http://www.ngmapstore.com), we had a very easy time getting around the park and where things were located. It made planning a whiz!

Helpful Guide for RVers 5 out of 5 stars.
12 of 12 people found this review helpful.

Experienced or a beginner, RVers must learn a lot to care for their investment in a motorhome, fifth-wheel or trailer. This book has some advice I haven't seen elsewhere.
It tells how to weigh the different RVs on a scale, tire care (aging and ozone cracking), selecting a tow vehicle, understanding propane, and troubleshooting electrical systems.
It includes some checklists which come in handy:
*Dinghy Towing Inspection checklist
*Ignition-System Checklist for Gasoline Engines
*Diesel Engine Prestart Checklist
*Short-Term Storage Checklist
*Return Trip Checklist
*Steps for Dumping a Holding Tank
The graphics are well-drawn, clearly labeled and helpful. A troubleshooting diesel engines flowchart and one for gasoline engines really lays out the options clearly.

Editorial Review:

This new edition of The RV Handbook is for all types of RV enthusiasts - from a first-time buyer or renter to the most seasoned RV traveler. With hundreds of proven RV tips, tricks, and techniques, this expanded handbook tells how to buy, maintain, and optimize RVs, saving both money and time.

For those looking for a simple overview of what to do in Arizona this is a great place to start. While it has information that travels in the United States may not need it offers great advice on hotels and the pictures really get you excited about your trip. .The recommendations are excellent and the book is very helpful for the Grand Canyon.

Love it! I will only purchase the Eyewitness series of guide books because they're loaded with easy to find information and tons of photos. Their maps and guides of where to eat or stay have been consistently accurate. They make travel a breeze. And when I'm going somewhere that I don't have enough time to see everything, these guides make it easier to decided because of the detailed descriptions with photos. This Arizona guide was great and I'll be using it again and again.

Great for anyone! 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

This book is a must-have for anyone who works in health education or is a practitioner of any sort. Fan et al have created an easy-to-read yet detailed account of HIV and AIDS from the views of the epidemiologist, virologist, health care worker, psychologist, sociologist, and anyone else interested in the topic. I first encountered this book in 1999 as a student enrolled in a course on HIV and it's impact on our society. I now use it in teaching County sponsored HIV/STD workshops and mini courses to youth ages 13-19 and to professors and students at my university.

A book that is continuously updated 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

An amazing book. I came to know it by being a student in the class that the authors teach at UC Irvine--AIDS Fundamentals (by far the most informative and interesting class I have ever taken). I read the second edition, originally--the great thing about this book is that it is consistantly updated textbook--if you read each edition as it appears, you keep up with the developments. This is a book to be read over and over.

Editorial Review:

Univ. of California, Irvine. Brandon/Hill Allied Health List selection (#2). Textbook for nonspecialized students. Previous edition: c1998. Based on the author's one-quarter course at the University of California, Irvine. A Web site has been established to accompany the book. Site contains review questions, statistics, and links to AIDS resources. Softcover.

Solid Information for Living Full-Time in an RV 5 out of 5 stars.
17 of 17 people found this review helpful.

My husband wanted to try full-time RVing, but I was too attached to having a house. Anyone trying to make that decision, needs to read this book.
It helps you figure the costs of such a lifestyle and how to deal with mail, licenses, and medical issues without a home base. Two chapters cover selecting an RV for full-timing. Then it addresses adjusting the RV to your special needs and what to do about storage. Five chapters cover the care of the RV (electrical systems, water, sewage, etc.). There are sections on driving, security, and selecting campgrounds.
We're talking about more than 500 pages of solid information here. It's essential for full-time RVers and quite useful for even part-time RVers.

Older book but some good information 4 out of 5 stars.
10 of 10 people found this review helpful.

This is an older book on RV living and as such it doesn't have much if anything in the way of solar for power, satellite dish for TV and computer use or other off the grid living information one needs in 2007+. But the information on mail, medical, fees for various things, and what type of floor plan for an RV vs a trailer are helpful. Am still looking for a newer book and one that speaks to the single woman who travels in an RV and alone.

Best Book to Explore "The Real Florida"! 5 out of 5 stars.
7 of 7 people found this review helpful.

This book is our favorite guide to exploring Florida's natural wonders, and there are many. It gives the most useful information of any I've found. If you would rather see real nature instead of fake (Disney animation) this is the book.
We keep it in our RV and plan trips with it.
What amazes me is that the author is from Washington state and knows so much about Florida.
The only thing that could make it better are two things: color photos and a better map of the parks with an overlay showing both major cities as well as the parks, to give a better sense of where they are located. It would be too crowded to put them all on one map so an overlay would be preferable. I had to use a car map in conjunction with the book map to plan trips, no big deal.
Just got back from Manatee Springs and Cedar Key. Florida springs are totally cool (double-ent. intended).

Editorial Review:

In terms of sheer number of parks and total annual visitors, Florida has one of the nation’s top three state park systems. Abundant shoreline, lakes, rivers, swamps, and marshes host an amazing array of wildlife, including bald eagles and orchids. This guide takes visitors hiking, camping, snorkeling, scuba diving, cycling and more-from sandy beaches to pine forests to stunning coral reefs.

Editorial Review:

Featuring 375 color photos and 80 full-color detailed maps—more than any other park guidebook—this is the most comprehensive, up-to-the-minute book of its kind on the market today. A perennial favorite with more than a million copies sold in previous editions, it reflects National Geographic’s century-long association with America’s national parks system and its peerless reputation for travel expertise and cartographic excellence.

The guide opens with an essay by Yellowstone authority Paul Schullery, a section on how to use the guide, and a national locator map. The parks are presented alphabetically region by region, with individual maps and geographical profiles. Colorfully illustrated descriptions offer tours tailored to the time available, whether it’s an hour or a week, and tell visitors the best spots to enjoy hikes, spectacular vistas, wildlife, and more. An Information & Activities page provides practical advice on visiting—park contact information, camping and lodging, accessibility, pet restrictions, things to do, and special advisories. Excursions to nearby wildlife refuges, monuments, forests, and other areas of exceptional interest follow many of the park entries.

From planning a trip to making the most of every minute, here’s all the information anyone could want on the scenic national parks—the crown jewels of the park system—plus invaluable advice from National Geographic writers who know them well.
