loved this book 5 out of 5 stars.

A very enjoyable read and inspirational. I went out purchased a sketch pad and started drawing after finishing the book!

Editorial Review:

"Two years before I started drawing, my wife was run over by a subway train. Sounds really terrible, I know. But, well, this book is about how art and New York City saved my life."
When Danny Gregory's wife was severely injured, his life was changed in an instant. Searching about for meaning for what had happened to his little family, he began to create a richly illustrated journal of his life. Gregory as driven to record and comment on every aspect of his life, from dirty dishes to cathedrals, from hospital wards to life-drawing classes, from brunch with Hell's Angels to book shopping at the Strand.
This unique book chronicles his discovery of drawing, his wife's rehabilitation, his son's infancy, and the life of the city he loves. Funny, bittersweet, romantic, and perverse, Everyday Matters is an inspiration, an invitation to look for the beauty and significance in the details of our daily lives.

Wonderful Book for those looking to travel!! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I have bought other books on traveling Scotland and this one is by far the best out of all of them. Full of detailed colorful pictures and suggested sites to visit. Wonderful book to look into!!!

Good read but could be better 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This read on Scotland is a good one, but I feel it could have done a better job of detailing information on Glasgow and Edinburgh. The images and content are great, but I just think it could have provided the reader with more information on Scotland's two largest cities. Worth the read though, especially if you're headed over anytime soon!

Editorial Review:

Whether you are travelling first class or on a limited budget, this Eyewitness Top 10 guide will lead you straight to the very best Scotland has to offer. Find your way effortlessly using the detailed maps which fold out from the front and back covers, plus many smaller maps inside.

Good Pocket Book 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Just came back from my Disney vacation and this was one of the guides I enjoyed using. I liked that the guide was small enough to fit in my purse and contained enough info to keep me organized. While on my trip I noticed that most Disney guests tend to use the Birnbaum guides and The Healthy Guide to Walt Disney World 2009: How to Eat Right and Stay Fit in Disney - The NEW Diet, Dining, Food, Fitness and Complete Weight Loss Book when doing their touring of the WDW parks and restaurants. I also used both guidebooks and found them to be quite helpful in planning and organizing my trip.

Editorial Review:

A brand-new guide to Walt Disney World! Once guests have planned their trips (with help from the classic Birnbaum Guide), they are encouraged to take this smaller book along with them on their Disney Vacation. Easily slipped into a pocket or a purse, the guide works as a handy, on-site reference for Walt Disney World theme parks, water parks, golf excursions, biking, boating, and more! Featuring fold-out maps, a removable day-planner, and a secure pocket to keep your passes, this new addition to the Birnbaum series will immediately become a must-have for WDW travelers.

Editorial Review:

Oliver Twist is a classic tale of a boy of unknown parentage born in a workhouse and brought up under the cruel conditions to which pauper children were exposed in the Victorian England. With this novel, Dickens did not merely write a topical satire on the workhouse system and the role of the 1834 New Poor Law in fostering criminality. He created a moral fable about the survival of good, a romance, and a gripping story in which he exploited suspense and violence more effectively than any of his contemporaries.

The new Oxford World's Classics edition of Oliver Twist is based on the authoritative Clarendon edition, which uses Dickens's revised text of 1846. It includes his preface of 1841 in which he defended himself against hostile criticism, and includes all twenty-four original illustrations by George Cruikshank. Stephen Gill's groundbreaking introduction gives a fascinating new account of the novel. He also provides appendices on Dickens and Cruikshank, on Dickens's Preface and the Newgate Novel Controversy, on Oliver Twist and the New Poor Law and on thieves' slang.

Editorial Review:

Attention, guys of America: It’s time to get off the couch, turn off the PlayStation, and set down your beer (just kidding—never set down your beer). Your days of freedom are numbered. Every guy owes it to himself to do something audacious, ostentatious, hilarious, or just plain fun before it’s too late. The time is now for the kinds of things that will be decidedly against the rules after you “settle down.” Die Happy is here to help you create the kind of stories you’ll be telling for the rest of your life. Stories about things like:

· How you spent your graduation cash: You start at Oktoberfest in Munich and wake up on a Thai beach (which is totally what your Aunt Edith had in mind). From Fantasy Fest to La Tomatina, here’s a breakdown of the wildest parties and the craziest worldwide destinations.
· The best places to, ahem, explore other cultures (or whatever): Corfu’s Pink Palace. Ireland’s pubs. Amsterdam’s Red Light District. Ibiza. Plus plenty of other fascinating events and locales, many of which also happen to serve booze.
· Getting a job (don’t worry, not a real job): Jet Ski guy. Cruise ship bartender. Casino dealer. Lifeguard. Roadie. Where and how to earn the money to subsidize your fun, usually in some exotic location full of very friendly women.

At once a “How To,” a “To Do,” and a “We Did,” Die Happy contains all the ideas, checklists, and insanely funny true stories you’ll need to help you have as much fun as possible—while you still can.

like having a personal tour guide 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I plan to take this along with me to Venice. It is the perfect size to carry with you and provides quite a bit of very useful information.

Just what you need 5 out of 5 stars.

I used this book for my recent trip to Venice. You can skip all guided tours offered by agencies in Venice, if you have this book. It is very helpful with historical overviews, but when come for food advices - just browse local restaurants and look for "tourist menue" (around 15-18 euros for 3 dishes, but be sure it doesn't' come with "cover charge" which is extra 2 euros). It is the best deal to get variety of dishes for reasonable prices. Also, visit Realto market for fresh fruits and vegetables, and small stores for ham and cheeses.

I went on day trips to Padova , Vicenza, and Verona. The book was extremely helpful for giving the guidance for day trips. Don't miss to try Recioto wine in Verona.

Great comprehensive resource 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 5 people found this review helpful.

This small hand-sized book is an excellent resource. Sections are seperated by practical categories (like food, social, and practical). Very easy to read, and really has everything you would need to get around.

Swahili: Lonely Planet Phrasebook 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

For a compact book on Swahili this is the best I've seen. The contents of this little gem were easily divided into useful and practical sections, covering a broader use of the language than I've come across in other similar type books. Each section was uniquely and clearly identifiable allowing faster access to put your fingertips on the words or phrases you need. This book also succeeds in helping the reader obtain a basic yet concrete understanding of the Swahili language where other similar books have attempted but failed.
