A Great Follow-Up to Where to Go When 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

I love this book! It's full of gorgeous photos that make me want to pack my bags immediately and explore all the corners of this amazing continent: from Canada and the US, to Central America, the Caribbean, and South America. Who wouldn't want to see the baby polar bears in Cape Churchill or the mysterious Easter Island statues, cruise the Amazon or join the mother of all New Year's Eve parties in Rio de Janeiro? This book is the second in the Where to Go When series (the first edition covered destinations around the world), and gives a selection of the best places to visit in the Americas for every month of the year - it could be the best season for travel to Patagonia or maybe there's a great festival in Wisconsin that month. It's also full of useful information (hotels, restaurants, dos and donts, getting around) and maps, along with interesting little stories relevant to each destination. It would make a great gift for anyone who likes traveling, or just the idea of traveling. Start planning your next vacation now!

Editorial Review:

Answering the difficult questions that today's adventurous travelers ask-where's the best place for a beach holiday in March? What are my options if June is the only time I can take a holiday? I'm getting married in November, where would be the perfect place for a honeymoon?-this is the perfect book for anyone planning a vacation or a longer adventure. Find out about the best time to go to each destination, the best places to see, and the best things to do. Whatever you want to do, you can-and in any month of the year.

How to Carry On 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

First, decide you're ready to travel hassle-free (or as close to it as possible). Next, visualize your perfect carry-on travel wardrobe. Author and packing expert Judith Gilford makes it all a breeze in this readable, oddly interesting handbook. She includes specific lists to jumpstart your thinking about packing for business, vacation and special itineraries - adventure, business or cruise travel, for instance. She offers great tips, from how to pack a layered bundle to keep your clothes wrinkle-free to the best practices for stain removal. getAbstract recommends her guidelines if you want to be able to travel light and still have everything you need upon arrival.

The Encyclopedia of Packing! 5 out of 5 stars.

All my life I have yearned for some unknown knowledge. Feeling incomplete, I began at an early age to selfishly take in as much information as possible. I read everything I could get my hands on, encyclopedias, dictionaries, textbooks, but nothing could quench this thirst. That is until I found this book. I still remember the day fate brought it to me. Opening its crisp pages I began to take in its glorious advice. Immediately captivated, I read the book uninterrupted from cover to cover, twice. Hours later, as I reluctantly closed the book, I breathed a sigh of relief. My soul at rest, I put down "The Packing Book: Secrets of the Carry-on Traveler".

Editorial Review:

In the third edition of this now-classic title, the author presents a wealth of new time-, space-, and energy-saving advice on preparing for trips both long and short.

The Next Exit 5 out of 5 stars.

I bought this book for good friends who were taking their first RV trip from Southern Missouri to New England! They used it from Day One - For food stops and even an emergency stop. They were so pleased with the book and I was glad to have chosen such a great gift!

The Next Exit 5 out of 5 stars.

I own this book and just bought it for a family member who is doing a "Bucket List" trip around the US. They keep calling to tell us how helpful it has been with hotel and gas listings. We use this book in our motor home. Traveling the interstate, and looking for gas in place we don't call home it is invaluable to us. We recommend this book highly.

Don't Leave Home without It 5 out of 5 stars.

I've used several editions of "The Next Exit". It is very easy to use, organized by State & Interstate Highway Number. When you are searching for a motel or gas station in the middle of Montana late at night you will love this book. It lets you know how many miles to the nearest motel, gas station or restaurant by brand. The only way to improve it would be to give the phone numbers for the hotels. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who travels our interstate highways.

A little light on the content 3 out of 5 stars.
5 of 6 people found this review helpful.

The guide has beautiful pictures, but I found it a little lacking in content, especially for the Ephesus area. If you are going on a cruise and stopping in Kusadasi as we did, we wanted information on the Kusadasi and Ephesus areas, including how to navigate ourselves through town, what the highlights are (where to focus our time) and how to get there, as well as some historical and background information. The little information this book did provide on Ephesus was something any taxi driver could have told us.

Good Supplement to a Human Guide 3 out of 5 stars.

This book looks nice, feels nice, and I suppose might taste nice. However, after living in Turkey for a year I found this book to be lacking in practical information. Eyewitness guides seemed to be geared more towards the tourist-on-a-tour rather than a person trying to make it on their own. There are three reasons I say this:
1) The hotel information is mainly for nicer establishments and there are not many listed.
2) The pictures are really nice, but there is not a lot of cultural, historical, or instructional information.
3) The book is really heavy making it a pain to carry around.

I also owned the Lonely Planet Turkey book and loved it, I would recommend it over the Eyewitness Guide. It got me to where I wanted to go and I found most of the information to be accurate. People I worked with also liked the Rough Guide of Turkey.

One other suggestion, if you are just headed to Istanbul, or plan to be in the country for a long period of time I would purchase both a Turkey guide and an Istanbul guide in order to save having to carry around a huge guidebook to the entire country.

Editorial Review:

From Greek and Roman ruins such as Ephesus to busting bazaars to virgin beaches, this guide brings the reader the best that Turkey has to offer. Includes extensive coverage of the different quarters of Istanbul and highlights places such as Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque.

Morocco (Eyewitness Travel Guides) 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 5 people found this review helpful.

Having travelled to Morocco April of 2007, I wanted an armchair mode to relive and add to places, events, memories of the trip. While no book can replace the marvel that is Morocco and its people, this gives a good and accurate overview, with lots of interesting information. All those things your tour guide shares and you can't remember!

Sightseeing in Morocco 5 out of 5 stars.

Just returned from Morocco and this book was indispensible! Great insight, great information about what to see. The photos are terrific to look at even if you don't make it to your destination.
Can't wait to use the one from Turkey soon!

Pretty but not as useful. 3 out of 5 stars.

It is a colorful book but lack the basic information and tips on basics. Gives you a nice history of Morroco political life. But it was't as helpful on basics like maps, tours.

This is a cheap book its ok for a overview. If your thinking of visiting Morroco with only this book as experience, dont. Always do some research and get maps in the city you visit. Especially Marrakech

Editorial Review:

With over 900 full-color photographs, tips on public transportation, and detailed lists of hotels and restaurants, Eyewitness Travel Guides: Morrocco provides a wealth of informaton on this North African treasure.
