Cute Book & Washcloth 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Barnyard Bath by Sandra Boynton is a cute little bath book for babies and toddlers. Bright and colorful with pictures of farm animals, it is good for playtime as well as bathtime.

The story is short and simple and a small washcloth with the cow's face on it is included. The book starts with, "It's bath time! Is your washcloth nice and wet? Let's get going! Ready, set...Wash the duckies. Was the cow. Scrub the piggy. You know how!" Buy the book to find out how it ends.

Another Boynton must have for your house! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Do you have a Boynton book in every room of the house except the bathroom? Well remedy that now and get Barnyard Bath. A bathtime must have, and a great way to introduce washing to your toddler, since the book very helpfully ends with "now wash YOU!" Our daughter (2 years) loves this book and won't take her bath without it!

Editorial Review:

Here comes BarnYard Bath! It’s a waterproof cousin of Barnyard Dance—the famous board book bestseller. And what could make tub time more fun than a book? Especially one that floats. Because let's face it, board books are highly impractical in the tub. Safety-tested, nontoxic, and so much fun—just like Bath Time!, Boynton's first bath book.

Loving/Sensitive/Humorous...Reading For A Young Girl & Boy!! A Classic!! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I read this book the first time in the early eighties. I was in my forties. Why would a forty-something year old lady read..."Are You There God? It's Me Margaret"...The answer being...I taught the performing arts to young ladies and some young gentlemen. I had a favorite student that had been with me for years, that brought the book in to me, as a gift. Why? Because...my name is Margaret!! The student was about 10 and she was so proud she had found a book that she did so enjoy reading, with my name as the main character. I thought...how sweet!! Did I read it? Of course...out of courtesy!! Did I like it? Absolutely...Very Much!! I associated with the novel. I am most sure many younger and older ladies have associated with this novel throughout the years. My parents moved when I was in the 5th grade. But...they moved back to where I had lived before. I thought my world would be wonderful again...just like before. But...like Margaret...surroundings and individuals change so quickly when one is so young, it is most difficult to understand all. In my case...it was if I had never been there. Old friendships had to be re-kindled. New friendships had to be made. Without God to talk with daily...what would I had done? He was my best friend. Just like Margaret I had a loving grandmother, that my brother and I spent each summer with. We had many conversations on the do's and don't of life. It was most difficult to understand what was expected of me and what I expected of others. Just like Margaret...I do not know how I would have managed without my conversations with God. Judy Blume, had to have associated her own young life, when writing this masterful novel. I never thought about the religious aspect of the book...as it was presented in such a well-received manner. I read this book to my son...(I never had a daughter)...when he was about 10 years of age. You know...when every young person...girl or boy, does start to ask all those necessary questions of life. This adorable little book answered many of those questions. He loved the book. Why have I read it again today...at this late time in my life? Well...here is the answer. I have finally...after many years....written my first book for the young reader. Judy Blume has presented all her books in such an outstanding way....I wanted to try to achieve some of the masterfulness she does display, when reaching her intended audience. Yes...Are You There God? It's Me Margaret...Will always hold a little part of my heart...as the young lady that gave it to me many years past...is still a dearing friend today. I went on to teach her daugther ballet, tap, and baton...just as I had her Mom. When Nikki (the young daughters name) was 10 years old, I gave her the copy that her Mom had given me many years ago. Recently...I ordered a new copy from Amazon...so I could re-fresh my mind with the beauty of Margaret's sweet escapades in..."Are You There God? It's Me Margaret. This is a classic. I recommend it for the young reader...both girl and boy. Peggy Inez, Author [[ ISBN 978-159858-400-4

Editorial Review:

Margaret Simon, almost twelve, likes long hair, tuna fish, the smell of rain, and things that are pink. She's just moved from New York City to Farbrook, New Jersey, and is anxious to fit in with her new friends -- Nancy, Gretchen, and Janie. When they form a secret club to talk about private subjects like boys, bras, and getting their first periods, Margaret is happy to belong.

But none of them can believe Margaret doesn't have a religion, and that she isn't joining the Y or the Jewish Community Center. What they don't know is that Margaret has her own special relationship with God. She can talk to God about everything -- family, friends, even Philip Leroy, the best-looking boy in sixth grade.

Margaret is funny and real. As you read her story, you'll know why this book has been the favorite of millions of readers. It's as if Margaret is talking right to you, sharing her secrets with a friend.

Not as good as The Mitten 3 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Get The Mitten instead, if you don't own it yet. This one is a little on the tedious side. You can see exactly where it's going from the very beginning and it doesn't have the peek-a-boo/sneeze joke in it that my daughter loves so much in The Mitten. To be honest, this is one of those books we have in our bookcase for variety and one of those ones where I skip parts just to get to the end of it.

Editorial Review:

When Lisa's woolen stocking flies off the clothesline, Hedgie finds it and pokes his nose in. He tries to pull it out, but the stocking gets stuck on his prickles -- and the fun begins.

A mother hen comes by, then a noisy goose, a talkative barn cat, a playful farm dog, a mama pig and her piglets, and a pony. They all laugh at Hedgie, especially when he pretends he's wearing a new hat. But in the end, it is clever Hedgie who has the last laugh.

And where is Lisa when all of this is going on? She's in the borders, getting ready for winter, until she realizes her stocking is missing and she enters the story to look for it.

Jan Brett's luminous paintings of a Scandinavian farm and the forest around it are bathed in northern light, as the snow begins to fall and the story begins, in this delightfully original companion book to The Mitten.

Not For Kids 1 out of 5 stars.
2 of 9 people found this review helpful.

As a teacher, I find this book to be horrible for children. I agree with others who have commented about the violence, disturbing images, and the "darkness" within this book. I would not use it for my own young children and am taking it out of my 7th grade classroom.

Seek and Find, I Spy, Animals, Outstanding Illustrations all rolled up into one! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This was our first Graeme Base book, and I thought it was wonderful -- until I discovered some of his other books. I bought it because my 4-year old is really into animals. He also likes the Osborne seek and find books, and Animalia is a combination of both. The details in the illustrations are truly outstanding. Sadly, my son didn't like it as much as I did, but you know how children are. I'm sure when I reintroduce the book in a few months he will appreciate it much more. He's just learning to read, so the details in teaching the alphabet are just now starting to become clear. Everytime I look at this book I discover some more detail on each page. The author must have spent a great deal of time creating this masterpiece. And you cannot go wrong with a Graeme Base book. Definitely my favorite children's author.

An acclaimed artist presents an imaginative, whimsical journey through the letters of the alphabet in a masterfully illustrated volume that introduces a menagerie of familiar and exotic creatures. Reprint. 200,000 first printing. PW.

A Gem 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I love this book! I was at my cousin's house when she had book club, and having read this many times, I forgot how great it was! Luckily, I chose to read it again, and fell in love for the second time! With characters that only Roahld Dahl himself could come up with, this book is a find. An eccentric grandmother, a curious boy, and evil creatures, this book is masterpiece. One of my favorites in the Dahl collection, thank you to the author!!!!

another great Dahl story! 5 out of 5 stars.

This story has three parts: the first - scary and gruesome, the second - funny, full of adventure and predictable, the third - warm, unexpected and full of promise and excitement.

What stays with me is the love between the grandson and the grandmother - they fully accept one another despite their differences and they enthusiastically enjoy life and each other.

The ending is left open for the imagination - not taken to a close like so much these days where nothing is left to ponder upon.

Editorial Review:

Meet a hero, a wise old grandmother, and the most gruesome, grotesque gang of witches imaginable!

Woof! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This cute book is classic Boynton with its fun illustrations and sense of humor. Be forewarned, you must make many different doggie noises while reading this book aloud!

What a fun counting book this is - and just when you think you can predict what will happen on the next page, Boynton throws in a few surprises!

Annoying to read 2 out of 5 stars.

I love most of the Boynton collection, but this book is really annoying. Barking page after page is boring. My daughter, who is now two, has never liked it either.

Great book! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I love this book. It could probably be argued that there is some educational value with the counting of dogs, but my child loves it because each dog barks different and he likes to bark along with them. It's really a brilliant book.

Editorial Review:

Serious silliness for all ages. Artist Sandra Boynton is back and better than ever with completely redrawn versions of her multi-million selling board books. These whimsical and hilarious books, featuring nontraditional texts and her famous animal characters, have been printed on thick board pages, and are sure to educate and entertain children of all ages.

X-mas Gift 4 out of 5 stars.
5 of 6 people found this review helpful.

I bought this gift for my niece for Christmas. She is an avid reader and has read the Junie B. Jones series and Magic Tree House series. Having read July Blume as a girl, I thought she would embrace these books as well. It was true, on X-mas night, she already was reading away. I am looking into adding other Judy Blume books to her personal library.

Hi all,
I read all of Judy Blooms books as a child and adored them as did all my friends. We were a group of girls though. Do you think that boys would get as much from them or even be interested.

great boxset of judy blume for the pre-adolescent girl! 5 out of 5 stars.

Obviously, Judy Blume has tons of books out that are for both young girls and boys as well as some books for older girls but this is a PERFECT boxset for a girl aged 9-13. I got it for my 12-year-old cousin for Christmas and she's read 3 of the 4 books already...and it's only 2 weeks after Christmas!

Sibling Rivalry 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

In Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing (Bantam, 1972), Judy Blume introduces Peter, an average fourth grader, living in an apartment in New York City with his parents; his little brother, Fudge; and his newly acquired turtle, Dribble. Three-year-old Fudge constantly creates drama in this otherwise quiet family, whether he is ruining his father's career or disrupting the family dinner. Fudge always seems to attract some type of attention from adults--whether for his cute face or his mischievous behavior. By comparison, Peter feels like a fourth grade nothing. It's not easy for Peter to love his little brother, who always seems to be the center of attention. As Fudge's trouble-making habits escalate, Peter's life is increasingly affected. Fudge destroys the school project that Peter and his friends labored over for weeks, and the toddler can't seem to keep away from Peter's beloved pet turtle. But when Fudge's actions bring on a family disaster, Peter learns that he is more than a fourth-grade nothing in the eyes of his family.

Readers will identify with scenes from Peter's everyday family life. This book is for every kid who leads an ordinary existence, dealing with parents, siblings, homework, and know-it-alls.

Carmen got the jeans at a thrift shop. They didn’t look all that great; they were worn, dirty, and speckled with bleach. On the night before she and her friends part for the summer, Carmen decides to toss them. But Lena decides they should all try them on. Whoever they fit best will get them.

Nobody knows why, but the pants fit everyone perfectly. . .

Take the New York Times bestselling book and pair it with a perfect cast, a screenplay from one of Hollywood’s most respected writers, and gorgeous locales like Vancouver, Baja, and Santorini, and you have The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, the teen girl movie of summer 2005 from Alcon Entertainment and Warner Bros. Pictures!

• Ken Kwapis directs a dream cast: Alexis Bledel (Gilmore Girls) as Lena, 2004 Emmy nominee Amber Tamblyn (Joan of Arcadia) as Tibby, America Ferrara (Real Women Have Curves) as Carmen, and newcomer Blake Lively as Bridget.
