Funny... as usual 5 out of 5 stars.

My twin 7 year old girls LOVE ALL of the Weird School Books. AJ is their favorite character. This new book delivers all the laughs the other books have delivered. We read it in one sitting and love the new character Coach Hyatt and her son Wyatt. Andrea "rocks" and annoys AJ in new and creative ways. It was great! We are preordering the next book in the series.

Editorial Review:

The weirdness never stops!

It's Pee Wee Football season, and A.J.'s new coach is crazy. She wants the boys to do push-ups in the mud. She wants them to pick up a car. And worst of all, she wants to put girls on the team! You'll never believe in a million hundred years what happens in the big game.

Ms. Hannah Is Bananas 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Ms. Hannah Is Bananas by Dan Gutman. This book is about AJ's teacher Ms. Hannah. The characters are AJ, Ryan, Mrs. Hannah, Ms. Daisy, and Andrea. Mrs. Hannah does not have a garbage can, because she never wastes anything. She puts it in a ball. For instance, AJ's friend, Ryan, blew his nose on a tissue and Ms Hannah took it and stuck it on a newspaper ball. It was nasty.
Dan Gut man grew up in New York and his birthday is on October 9, 1955. Dan Gutman wrote a lot of books like Miss Roopy Is Loopy and Miss Daisy Is Crazy. They were good books. I like this book because it is funny and mysterious. It was funny when AJ rode his skateboard and fell off.

Great for making kids get the habit of reading 4 out of 5 stars.

All these books are perfect for getting kids to take up reading, I buy them by the bunch and they get read inmediately.

Editorial Review:

Ms. Hannah wears dresses made out of potholders and collects garbage instead of throwing it out. Plus she's making A.J. be partners with smelly Andrea. This is the worst art class ever!

Fabulous series 5 out of 5 stars.

I teach 2nd grade and have met Dan Gutman. I have read most of his books and loved them. The Weird School series has been a hit with my class this year. I have read each one orally to them and they beg for more. I pause at certain places in the stories because they know what lines come next. I'm going to begin the Weird School Daze next.

mr. krups cracks me up 5 out of 5 stars.

my grandson is an advid reader and likes silly titles and books. he had this book read in one day and asked if he could get more of the series. I told him I'd get them for him. he has a wicked sense of humor and to watch him read and giggle though a story is heartwarming.

Editorial Review:

A.J. thinks that nothing can possibly be as boring as a sleepover in the natural history museum. But anything can happen when Ms. Krup is in charge. The tour guide says that dinosaur skeletons come to life in the middle of the night. Is she right?

I liked this book because I like the music that he teaches. But I do not like Mr. Loring. I think this whole series is very funny. I hope the next series is really good too. It's cool that he was on American Idol. My favorite character is A.J.

Parents, don't rely on librarians or teachers to tell you it's ok 2 out of 5 stars.
3 of 8 people found this review helpful.

While this book gives many interesting details of Arctic life and the differences between the traditional and modernized lifestyles of the Eskimos, it is not worth the effort due to one inappropriate, unnecessary, gratuitous scene on p. 102. I was shocked when I discovered this scene of s*x*al assault between Daniel and Julie, especially considering the age of the target audience. I realize that this scene is the catalyst which drives Julie to go back to the wilderness, but my goodness! Couldn't the author have thought of something else? Due to this one scene, the entire book should be regarded with great caution, in my opinion.

I understand that this book is required reading by many elementary schools. As a parent, I would appreciate a forewarning, so that I could decide whether this book would be appropriate for my children. My 11-y-old daughter received this book as a gift, but I remembered something that I'd read about this book that was questionable. I did a little reading, a boy! am I glad I did. The scene of s*x*al assault would have been confusing and disturbing to my child. I will not be letting her read it. There are plenty of other wonderful books out there that have nothing inappropriate.

Editorial Review:

To her small Eskimo village, she is known as Miyax; to her friend in San Francisco, she is Julie. When her life in the village becomes dangerous, Miyax runs away, only to find herself lost in the Alaskan wilderness.

Without food and time running out, Miyax tries to survive by copying the ways of a pack of wolves. Accepted by their leader and befriended by a feisty pup named Kapu, she soon grows to love her new wolf family. Life in the wilderness is a struggle, but when she finds her way back to civilization, Miyax is torn between her old a new lives. Is she Miyax of the Eskimos -- or Julie of the wolves?

'Miss Holly Is Too Jolly' will leave readers ho-ho-ho-ing long into the night! 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Miss Holly is one weird teacher. For one, she teaches languages in what is called a language lab, yet there are no mad scientists hanging about. Two, she's constantly wearing a bowl of fruit on her head and dancing around in a very strange, and embarrassing fashion. And three, she's decided to hang mistletoe about all over her classroom, which must mean that she wants all of the boys and girls to kiss. A.J. isn't having it. After all, there's no rule that says you have to kiss underneath the mistletoe, it's just there if you want to kiss someone underneath it. But Andrea refuses to take that into consideration, and, being a stickler for rules, feels that everyone must kiss underneath the mistletoe - even reluctant students. Luckily, when the class learns that there will be a Secret Santa present giveaway, thoughts about mistletoe go out the window, and suddenly everyone's scrambling to find the perfect gift for their Secret Santa, otherwise they'll be present-less on Secret Santa day. But when they discover that they also have to put on a holiday recital, the Weird School kids decide that Miss Holly is taking the holidays way too far, and acting much too jolly for her own good.

I have never read one of the books in the MY WEIRD SCHOOL series before. However, I was pleasantly surprised by Dan Gutman's holiday offering. MISS HOLLY IS TOO JOLLY! vaguely reminds me of THE BAILEY SCHOOL KIDS series, dredging up some crazy teachers to run amok, and leave the school virtually in the hands of a bunch of childish, immature, yet extremely likable, children. Miss Holly is an entertaining character who is sure to leave young readers laughing. Between her crazy antics, and kind nature, she provides the picture of a perfect teacher - aside from the fact that she has a tendency to teach her students very strange phrases in Spanish. The children, on the other hand (A.J., Andrea, Emily, Ryan, and Michael) are your typical students - making fun of one another, misbehaving, and laughing at the most inappropriate moments. Dan Gutman certainly knows kids, for he's written personalities for his characters that shine like the brightest star on the Christmas tree; that will leave readers ho-ho-ho-ing long into the night!

Miss Holly, the Spanish teacher, is hanging mistletoe everywhere! That means boys will have to kiss girls. And girls will have to kiss boys. Ugh! Miss Holly is taking the holidays way too far!

Funny poetry that makes you laugh out loud! 5 out of 5 stars.

My sons and I have been reading this series. This has to be one of the best! My oldest read it by himself first and then asked me to read it out loud. I honestly had to stop reading at times because I was laughing so hard.

Ms Coco is Loco by Dan Gutman 5 out of 5 stars.

This series written by Dan Gutman is about 2nd grade kids and their days at school. Each book focuses on the same friends and is about a different teacher. My grandson loves this series and have read all 21. He is 8 and laughs at something in each chapter. GREAT SERIES. I would recommend this series to everyone - main characters are boys and girls so great book for both genders. We read this book on the way to school and when I pick him up from school. I think I love the books as much as he does and I am a Grandmother!!!

Editorial Review:

It's Poetry Month! And Ms. Coco, who runs the gifted and talented program, is poetry crazy! She cries when she sees a sunset! She thinks boys should have feelings! She talks in rhyme! All the time! Will A.J.'s life ever be normal again?

Gutman Hits it Well, but it Goes Foul 4 out of 5 stars.
7 of 7 people found this review helpful.

This is the third in Mr. Gutman's new series and it was by far my first-grade son's favorite of the three. The narration by AJ, the reluctant school-goer, is engaging and the character of Mrs. Loopy is well-drawn and entertaining. Throughout the book Mrs. Loopy makes attempts to liven up books for AJ in order to turn him into someone who doesn't hate books. Judging by how well the author lured my son (a reluctant reader) into the book, Mrs. Loopy met her objective.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I am an elementary school teacher and found three parts of the book objectionable.
1) Mrs. Loopy pulls up her shirt to show a tattoo to AJ and his classmates.
2) AJ and his classmates break into Mrs. Loopy's office instead of lining up with the rest of their class.
3) In the last chapter AJ grabs Mrs. Loopy's shirt and pulls it out in order to have visual access to her belly button.

An enjoyable read, but be aware of those parts before you read.

Editorial Review:

Mrs. Roopy, the new librarian, comes to school wearing a pot on her head! One day she thinks she's George Washington, and the next day she's Little Bo Peep! The worst part is, she doesn't even know how crazy she is!

1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I teach second grade and my students LOVE this series. We read Books #1 and #3 out loud. We listen to Books #2 and #4 on audiotape. By then the kids are so excited with the series that they can't wait to read the rest of the series. I highly recommend them. They are great with predictions because of their repetitive sayings.

Mrs. Cooney, the school nurse, is a knockout -- and A.J. has a crush on her! But are her charms just a cover for her secret identity as an international spy? Will A.J.'s love for Mrs. Cooney win out over his love for the good old USA?
