Three Little Kittens was my favorite book as a child and now that i have a son of my own I am able to pass on a favorite to him. He loves the vivid images that this book offers, there are so many different pictures in their that at 16 months old he likes to point and hear me say the name of an object.

A favorite old classic... 5 out of 5 stars.

I bought six of my favorite childhood books for my great-grandson..."Little Black Sambo", "The Three Billy Goats Gruff", "Henny Penny", "Chicken Little", "The Three Little Kittens", and "Classic Tales of Brer Rabbit". My great-grandie is 2-1/2 and I can't wait to read these wonderful stories to him.

Editorial Review:

The favorite Mother Goose rhyme about the three careless kittens who lost their mittens is given added appeal with Galdone's bold and colorful illustrations.

Matthew's review 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Mrs. Kormel is not Normal is about a crazy bus teacher that doesn't even know where the new kid's house is. The funny thing about the book is that they weren't allowed to kneel and crouch in the bus and somebody said if your name is crouch or kneel can you kneel or crouch on the bus and the bus driver said yes. Then Andrea said there is nobody named kneel or crouch but it ended up that the new kid was named Neil crouch. I would recommend this book.

Weird School RULES! 5 out of 5 stars.

My ten and seven-year-old boys LOVE reading the books in this series. They can completely relate to the main character, A.J., and his trademark opening line: My name is A.J. and I hate school". Of course, A.J.'s school is a fabulous place for boys and he can't help but learn things. All the books are quick and enjoyable reads.

This episode is about the bus driver, Mrs. Kormel, and a disastrous day on the way to school. My boys and I were laughing out loud through most of this book. We liked it so much, we gave a copy to our busdriver so she could enjoy it with her sons.

Editorial Review:

Something weird is going on!

First the school bus gets a flat tire, and then Mrs. Kormel is totally lost in the middle of nowhere! Mrs. Kormel is the weirdest bus driver in the history of the world, and she's driving everyone crazy!

Review Terrible Things 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This book tells about how the Holocaust could happen. So many times when things go wrong or don't look right, people have a tendancy to look the other way, not get involved, or "I better not help as I may have a problem too." In this book the different animals are removed one by one by the "terrible things." Everyone looks the other way- the only one to question why is a little rabbit and he is told not to get involved by his elders. In the end there is no one left, except the little rabbit who hid,- and the meadow is left silent and barren. Just as in the Holocaust years ago, if people had banded together, maybe this wouldn't have happened. I read this book to my LD 4th grade class. By the end of the book, outside of being able to hear a pin drop in the classroom, the kids asked "Why didn't anyone do anything?" I guess the author really got her point across!

Editorial Review:

In this allegory, the author's reaction to the Holocaust, the animals of the forest are carried away, one type after another, by the Terrible Things, not realizing that if perhaps they would all stick together and not look the other way, such terrible things might not happen.

Great Series 5 out of 5 stars.

My 8 year old son has read the entire Baseball Card Adventures series. Each book captures the time period and essence of a famous baseball player in history. Well written and engaging to intermediate readers. We look forward to the new books in the series coming out in 2009.

Great for Nonconventional families! 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

We read this book all the time (in the top 3) to our 15-month-old daughter, even though we do have a conventional family. But I wanted to write this review so other people will know that it is a perfect child's book for a non-conventional family.
There is no gender reference to Small. There is no gender reference to Large. There is not even a reference of Large being a parent. There is no reference to any other family member. This would be fabulous for single parents or for guardians who are not "mom" or "dad".

Love this book! 5 out of 5 stars.

My daughter received this book from her Nana when she was about 14 months old. It's one that, happily, I was able to recite by heart soon after. We read the book almost every night for about a year. And then we read it at least once/week for the next 2 years. When her brother was born, we started reading it to him. It is one of his very most favorites also. He knows if I accidentally skip a page or if I say something the wrong way. The other preschool book of Ms Gliori's that we love (and have loved) is Polar Bolero. My son LOVES that he can see a Little Small in Polar Bolero. Ms Gliori's illustrations are just wonderful.

My daughter was extra thrilled when we discovered that Ms Gliori has also written chapter books! We're anxiously awaiting to start the last book in the series - Pure Dead Frozen.

We are BIG GIANT FANS of Ms Gliori!

Editorial Review:

I’m grim and grumpy,” says Small to Large, “and I don’t think you love me at all.”But nothing could be further from the truth--and Large knows just how to reassure Small in this warm and tender story about a child’s biggest worry and a parent’s endless capacity for love.

Great Time-Travel Book 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Shoeless Joe and Me is one of my favorite books! The book is about a kid who can Time-Travel by using Baseball Cards. He tries to go back in time to stop the Black Sox Scandal. The Black Sox Scandal was when 8 players on the White Sox were tricked by gamblers into losing the 1919 World Series against the Cincinnati Reds on purpose.

Even if you don't like Baseball, I'm sure you will love this book. I loved it SO much that I couldn't take my face away from the book. I recommend this book to ANYONE, as long as they love a good book. It is part of a series, which include:

Honus and Me
Jackie and Me
Babe and Me
Mickey and Me
Abner and Me
Satch and Me

Editorial Review:

When Joe Stoshack hears about Shoeless Joe Jackson -- and the gambling scandal that destroyed the star player's career -- he knows what he has to do. If he travels back in time with a 1919 baseball card in his hand, he just might be able to prevent the infamous Black Sox Scandal from ever taking place. And if he could do that, Shoeless Joe Jackson would finally take his rightful place in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

But can Stosh prevent that tempting envelope full of money from making its way to Shoeless Joe's hotel room before the big game?

Editorial Review:

Coraline went exploring one day . . .

Her family has just moved to a completely new town, and so Coraline already feels a bit strange. In her new house there is one door that opens onto a brick wall. At least, it does until one day the bricks are gone and Coraline finds herself stepping over the threshold into another house . . . a house that's just like hers.

At first things appear marvelous in this other house. The food is better. The toy box is filled with windup angels that flutter about, books whose pictures crawl and shimmer, and little dinosaur skulls that chatter their teeth. But there's another mother and another father—and they want Coraline to be their little girl and stay with them forever. They want to change her and never let her go.

Other children are also trapped, as lost souls behind a mirror, and Coraline is their only hope. She will have to find a way to meet the other mother's challenge in order to save the lost children, her ordinary life, and herself.

Satch and Me 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Satch and Me is a great sciencefiction book out of Gutman's series of "and me" books. If your child is a sports maniac you should get him or her the series. It was one of the best series I ever read.

Book for baseball lovers 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

In the five star story Satch and Me there is a young 12 year old boy named Joe Stoshack. He plays on a little league baseball team coached by an old man named Flip Valentine. While playing one of the games there is a player nicknamed "Mutant Man" who sparked an idea for Joe and Flip to travel back in time to try to find the fastest pitcher in baseball. Flip had already borrowed a time clock from the high school coach so they used Joe's baseball card powers to travel back in time.

On their way they meet a waitress that becomes there very good friend. Also the boys almost get sent to jail for counterfeit money because they have money from the future. But the waitress gives the boys enough money for bus tickets to travel up to were Satch's team is playing. Finally they find out at the end if he is or isn't the fastest pitcher in baseball. They then no the secret of the fastest pitcher in baseball.

Editorial Review:

"You wanna know who threw the fastest pitch ever?"

Many baseball players claim that Satchel Paige was the fastest pitcher in the history of the game. Stosh and his coach, Flip Valentini, are on a mission to find out. With radar gun in tow, they travel back to 1942 and watch Satch pitch to power hitter Josh Gibson in the Negro League World Series. They soon learn that everything about Satch is fast -- whether it's his talking, driving, or getaways. But is he really the fastest pitcher who ever lived?
