Best little book ever 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

My husband and I love this little book. It is a very touching story that is especially great for a father to read to his baby (especially a son). The illustrations are beautiful. The reason why I gave it only 4 stars is because, although we LOVE the illustrations, they are pretty small. I think larger drawings would be better and more interesting for babies and very small children. Otherwise, the story is interesting and heartwarming, and not at all a chore to read over and over and over again.

Kinda dry 1 out of 5 stars.

It's a sweet sappy story :) that's the good part. But it also seemed a bit dry. This author seems to repeat the "love" theme in all his books. If you want a cute lovey story then get this one. But the pictures are nothing amazing----predominant color in the book is the soft brown of the bunnies, not much scenery in it, simple text but it has a beat to it that kids will like as big bunny and little bunny compete in a battle of words to declare who loves the other MORE.

Editorial Review:

Now in a deluxe new edition

Guess how much kids will love this! The original family classic is now available in a fresh new hardcover featuring embossing on the cover — and a new, larger trim size, making it perfect for lap sharing.

This is a very special book about a girl who wants her own pony. My daughter loved this book, because she could relate to the story so well. She too wishes for a pony, but we don't have one. Very special book. Love it!

Great purchase process 5 out of 5 stars.

My book arrived quickly and just as I had ordered it. It was packaged safely and securely. You will be happy with this seller.

A beautiful story! 5 out of 5 stars.

The illustrations are breath-taking--make you want to run your fingers across the page. Thousands of little girls can identify with the heroine, who is clearly the author herself( read the author's note first).

My Pony 5 out of 5 stars.

This is a beautifully written and illustrated book not only for children but for all ages. Anyone who loves horses and grew up always wanting to own one will relate to the character in this story. It is a wonderful story that I would highly recommend.

I want a pony.

I want a pony more than anything in the world.

A little girl who longs for a pony draws pictures of a dappled mare she names Silver, then rides her through a magical countryside in her dreams.  At the heart of Susan Jeffers's exquisite picture book lies the idea that in her imagination, a child can journey anywhere and do anything- even fly through the stars on her very own pony...

Entertaining 4 out of 5 stars.

Not up to par with the Disney classics, of course, but entertaining enough and of decent quality. Good for students learning Spanish.
My 3 y.o has watched it several times even though he's not into horses, so I guess he likes it well enough.
I would say that girls would like it better.

This was a fun addition to my library as it was a childhood favorite. This was a lovely edition, beautifully printed and bound. The seller packed to be sure it arrived in the same great shape it was in when it was sold too. I am very pleased with the book and the seller.

Editorial Review:

Here is the compelling tale of a spirited young Thoroughbred that captured the hearts of readers throughout Victorian England when it was first published in 1877. This masterfully illustrated classic is skillfully adapted by Newbery Award-winning author Robin McKinley and remains faithful to the original. With simple text to read aloud to young children, it's little wonder that The Boston Globe says it is "certain to quicken the hearts of young horse lovers." A timeless tale of courage, hope, and strength guaranteed to delight a new generation of readers.

A Beautiful Tale 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I gave Triss five stars because I really enjoyed it. I loved the poems and songs, especially how they help the charactors of the story. I also enjoyed the fact that all of the charactors in the story were animals. I like how the dialogue really went along with characters, and every animal has its own accent and uses different choices of words. I really found the story very intersting. It had some adventure (which I liked) but mainly dialogue and description. One thing I found most amazing was that at the beginning of every chapter the author makes a beautiful description of the setting. I really enjoyed the story and I hope many people do too.

Editorial Review:

Enslaved by the evil ferret King Agarno and his daughter, Princess Kurda—slavers who have shackled hundreds—the brave squirrelmaid Triss, along with Shogg the otter and Welfo the hedgehog, plans a daring escape by sea. In her flights, Triss happens upon Redwall, and the abbey creatures discover a new hero in her. Someone brave enough to carry the sword of Martin and face the evil that threatens them . . .

One of the best children's books for the imagination. 5 out of 5 stars.
16 of 17 people found this review helpful.

As a child between the age of 6 and 8, I remember going to the library with my mother and checking out each of the adventure's that Harold had. I must have checked them all out more than ten times each. The concept of a small boy using his purple crayon to imagine many things was so fun. The vocabulary is suitable for the reccommended age group. The pictures are great. The spectacular thing and most valuable lesson is that it not only teaches one how to read, but it also says it's o.k. to have an imagination. Today I still remember how much I loved Harold and his purple crayon. I plan to buy all of the Harold books not only because of my love for them, but to one day share them with my children.

Another favorite from Crockett Johnson 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

Our son loves Harold and the Purple Crayon, so we ordered this Trip to the Sky story. At first I didn't find it as clever, but the more we read it, the more our son enjoys it. We love the imaginative exploration, Harold's ingenuity, and the simple yet unique drawings. The move from night to day is wonderfully sudden, and the play with words once again delightful. The dated paranoia about u.f.o.s is amusing to us, and it's the perfect kind of "scary" for a not-quite three-year-old.

Editorial Review:

With his magic purple crayon, Harold draws himself into a rocket voyage to Mars, then safely back to earth just in time for breakfast.

AWFUL! AWFUL! AWFUL! 1 out of 5 stars.
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I don't understand how this book got so many good reviews! It was awful! Let me list the things that I hate about this book.
.No battle at the end
.No armies
.Stupid puzzles
.I actualy felt sorry for the bad guy, he just got tricked and creamed so many times, he's hardly a threat to the good guys! He keeps getting crushed by these pirates, his army betrays him to the pirates, and the 5 good guys show up in the end and totally destroy the rest of the bad guys army, the pirate's ship, and the bad guy himself! It was pitiful! In all, this book was terrible, I only gave it one star because it had a cool swordfight in the end. Skip this book! Read the other Redwall books though, they're good {except for Loamhedge, it's bad too}.

Lord Brocktree 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

For the thrill reading lovers out there, is a book that I think has passed all the expectations, and beyond! Lord Brocktree is this amazing book. It is a compelling story of friendship, loyalty, violence, utter excitement, and when you're done, you'll want more!
Lord Brocktree takes place at the mighty mountain of the badger lords, salamandastron, ruled by an old badger named Stonepaw Brock tree's father. The mountain is attacked by an evil tyrant, leader over an army as far as the eye can possibly see, plagues the mountain with an onslaught that would wipe them out. He is a wildcat named Ungatt Trunn, who has taken many lands on his conquest.
However, faraway in a land called Mossflower, a hare named Dotti, meets a traveler named Brocktree while fighting a band of shrews that attacked her. After Brocktree saved Dotti from them, they started to travel together. However, Brocktree started to have horrible nightmares of Ungatt Trunn. He also saw the mountain being torn apart by overwhelming armies; it was as if the mountain was covered blue with the hordes. Therefore, in mass of anxiety, Brocktree starts to gather an army to see if Salamadastron and his father can be saved. This installs a lot of pressure on him because he knows he must hurry.
I think this story always gives you suspense and it makes you want to read it constantly. I believe Lord Brocktree is a story to remember. Will Brocktree save the mountain in time?

Editorial Review:

The thirteenth tale in the highly popular Redwall series, now in paperback.

Ungatt Trunn, the wildcat who can make the stars fall from the sky, has attacked with his Blue Hordes and is determined that the fortress should be his. The mountain’s defenses are weak and it seems that nothing can stand in his way. Nothing, that is, but the badger Lord Brocktree, who is drawn to Salamandastron by an undeniable sense of destiny. gripping, funny, but flat. 3 out of 5 stars.
2 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I do not normally read this sort of book- I am normally sickened by talking animals. However, although this book had some good ingredients- it was gripping and made me want to read on, while some parts made me laugh, I found there were too many characters, and many were rather undeveloped and indistinguishable from one another (sorry about the long words). For example, Foremole and Furrp might as well have been the same mole, while some of the horderats only appear for two sentences before being killed. Sometimes I felt that the story could have functioned without the bonus characters, and there was quite a lot of stereotyping: foxes, rats- nasty evil scum. Mice, hares, etc. : good as gold. It was a little predictable in places and similar to many other of his books- evil fox/rat/wolf catches someone, everyone else tries to save them, someone dies, everyone is sad, baddie dies, the end. I did enjoy Blaggut because he was an exception to the tiresome 'good and evil full stop' rule and he made me laugh, along with Egbert the scholar because he was so quirkily different. I also loved the shrike ( can't pronounce his name!) Overall, I liked this book, but these flaws did annoy me. Read it if you enjoy Brian Jacques' stories, but not if you are a little paranoid or get irritated by anthropomorphic animals. :)

Editorial Review:

When Joseph the Bellmaker is warned in a dream that his daughter, Mariel, is in danger, his hopes of saving her are slim. For the evil Foxwolf and his horde of rats are coming to Southsward and Mariel is his prisoner. But Joseph and his four young warrior friends lead a crusade against Foxwolf and his invading grey rat army. And can the legendary Martin the Warrior return from the past to save them. Or is it too late ...?

Too much of the stereotype this time 2 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Can you say total bigotism is this book? While I think that any Redwall book is more than decent, I'm just not happy that this particular story decides that anyone outside the cuter woodland creatures is automatically evil. There are many directions this book could have gone to save it, but instead it went for a nice-but-not-thrilling plotline revolving around the aforementioned automatically evil.Still, Jacques is a master, and it is a worthwhile story to read. Just don't expect something super.

Great series 5 out of 5 stars.

Great series for young and old looking for a mental shut-down for bed book.

Don't forget to read Outcast of Rrewall 5 out of 5 stars.

Outcast of Redwall by: Brian Jacques is a thrilling adventurous fantasy but I would not recommend this book to kids who don't like to read. The story opens in the base camp of Sixclaw a evil weasel, where he was holding Sunflash hostage. At the same time when Sunflash was being held to a tree, a bird came down from the sky and saved Sunflash and they ran away together in to the woods. But little does Sunflash and the bird know is that Sixclaw was chasing them with all of his beasts so that they can kill Sunflash. Sunflash saves and meets a creatures on the way when Sixclaw sees Sunflash at a big battle he runs away so Sunflash has to chase him. When they see each other they battle for a long time but who kills who?
Sunflash the mace is a character driven to kill evil creatures. During the first chapter Sunflash is very weak mentally and physically who was a slave for the evil weasel Sixclaw. After he escapes he became strong and brave again. This creature gets captured a lot but always escapes and usually kills the animals that captured him. Sunflash never gets really tired unless he was just in a big battle. One of the settings was Salamandrostron it was a big city where badgers rule. Also Sunflash was going to be the next king. He got in trouble by the present king by going into a place where no one was supposed to go.
In conclusion The Outcast of Redwall is a book you should read because it is thrilling and it will make you want to read until you're finished.

Editorial Review:

Ferret Swartt Sixclaw and badger Sunflash the Mace are arch enemies who have sworn a pledge of death upon each other. Meanwhile, the Abbess of Redwall has banished a young creature from her Abbey. This harsh sentence forces a heart-breaking decision upon a young Redwall mousemaid and ultimately links her destiny to...the Outcast of Redwall.

I rated this boook a five star because of all the action and all of the adventure. It is about a young squirrel who is a huge trouble maker who knows he should do something good in his life. But there is someone who finds out about Tammo and tries to kill him.I can only say someone dies who will it be I.......cannot say.

Wonderful reading for all ages 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is from an incredibly well written series starting with the original "Redwall" book. The "formula" is good against evil, loyalty and honor with only the glory of a job well done and the genuine gratitude that goes to those who stand up for what good and right no matter what the bad guys promise. Another tale in a not to be missed series of books for all-age readers

Editorial Review:

There has never been a Redwall hero quite like Rakkety Tam, the roguish Highlander squirrel who sets off for Mossflower Wood on a mercenary errand and loses his heart to the charms of Redwall Abbey. And there’s never been a villain quite like Gulo the Savage: a vicious beast-eating wolverine who descends upon the Abbey in search of a relic called the Walking Stone. Readers will cheer at the return of the Long Patrol, the antics of a renegade vole thief, and the emergence of a new champion to wield the sword of Martin. As fans of Brian Jacques and Redwall know, the adventures just keep getting bigger and bigger.
