Winter of the Ice Wizard is a great Magic Tree House book. It begins when Jack and Annie get a note from Merlin. They end up with Teddy and Kathleen at the castle of the Ice Wizard. There, they learn that he wrote the note and had kidnapped Merlin and Morgan. In order to save them, they have to find the Ice Wizard's eye. They recieve directions to go to the Hollow Hill, and they do, in the ice Wizard's sleigh. They find the eye and give it to the Wizard. He is sad and mad because they eye doesn't work. Then Teddy and Kathleen bring in the swan maiden, the Wizard's sister, and she tells him that she will forgive him. Then his eye works. They are given back Merlin and Morgan, and the mission is over.

I think that this is a great book. Winter of the Ice Wizard is my favorite Magic Tree House book!

Editorial Review:

JACK AND ANNIE, joined by Teddy and Kathleen (from earlier books), travel in the Magic Tree House to a land of snow where the Ice Wizard has captured Morgan and Merlin. The four friends must find the Ice Wizard’s missing eye . . . or is it really his heart that is missing?

MY BOY LOVES READING 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

My 1st grader hates to put it down, he would rather read Magic Tree House books, than play video games. He even reads them to his class and explains the story for show and tell. In his kindergarten class the teacher would also let him read the Magic Tree House books out loud, not to give her a break, but to promote reading out loud. Great books!

Magic Tree House 5 out of 5 stars.

Here is a summery of this book. There is two kids and they were playing in the woods when they found a tree house. So the kids decided to see in side. So read this book to find out what happens to the kids. The way I found out about this book is because my mom told me to read a book when I was in 5th grade. So I heard about this wonderful series of books. I would love to recommend you to read this book. Who can read this book you ask! Anybody can read this book. If they like to explore then you should read this book.

What did I like this book you ask! The thing I liked was the characters because they are young and they don't know what was going on. They are always getting in trouble and they don't know why they are in trouble. I also like the action in this book. There are so many parts. I don't know how to explain. There are some parts I don't like is the length of the book. It is to short.

I loved this book a lot because it is nice and cool. I really think you should read this book. So read this book.

Editorial Review:

The Magic Tree House whisks Jack and Annie away to the decks of that ill-fated ship, the Titanic. There they must help two children find their way to a lifeboat--all while they are in danger of becoming victims of that tragic night themselves.

Turns kids into readers 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

The Magic Tree House series turned my unenthusiastic grandson into a book lover. Having trouble finding books he'd actually sit down and read, I bought a couple of these titles at his school's book fair. He picked one up that afternoon, and didn't come out of his room until dinner time, and then went back in his room to finish the book. Read a whole book in one day. Now, he does it all the time! He loves this series, and it has made him a fan of many other types of books, as well. He now loves to read. He even picks up the encyclopedia and reads it!

Editorial Review:

“I WISH WE COULD GO THERE!”

When they are in the tree house, Jack and Annie only have to say those simple words and the tree house starts to spin, faster and faster. . . . And then, poof!—the kids find themselves flying on the backs of dinosaurs, exploring the surface of the moon, and slipping down the deck of the Titanic.

Jack and Annie’s first 28 adventures are now together in a collectible box that looks like the magic tree house itself!

Another Wonderful Book 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I read this wonderful book to myself the day I got it. I was thrileed and couldn't wait for the next book to come out. It takes place in New York City in 1938 during the Great Depression. jack and Annie have to find a unicorn. But how will they find one in a big city? Finally Jack and Annie find the unicorn, whose name is Dianthus. But just then two teenagers named Balor and Grinda burst in and try and take Dianthus. Jack and Annie escape with the unicorn, and stop in Central Park. There, Balor and Grinda show up, and Annie recites her favorite magic rhyme, Turn Into Ducks. Balor and Grinda turn into ducks.

Teddy and Kathleen, Merlin and Morgan, show up and the two other teenagers ride Dianthus home to Camelot. Jack and Annie travel home in the Magic Tree House, and merlin and Morgan take a ride around New York City.

For ANY fans of the magic tree house, MAGIC TREE HOUSE #36: BLIZZARD OF THE BLUE MOON, I reccomend you read this wonderful book. You will be so surprised that you read this book over and over again!

You just got to keep up with the kids . If you have the collection the book is great as always. My kids really enjoy them.

Action-packed but creepy 3 out of 5 stars.

I love the Magic Tree House books, and Summer of the Sea Serpent is a very cool Merlin Mission, but it is very mysterious and creepy. In one part, they went into a cave where the Spider Queen who lives inside it, the drawing looks creepy because the spider has about 13 eyes! And some other parts are mysterious, too. I really appreciate Mary Pope Osborne's great fantasy books, but this not exactly the best nor the worst. If you are a fan of the Magic Tree House series, check it out in the library, but don't buy it. Still, I love Magic Tree House.

Summer of the Sea Serpent (Magic Tree House #31) 4 out of 5 stars.

a day with Leonardo 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Monday with a Mad Genius is a great book! It's part the great series Magic Tree House,
Written by Mary Pope Osborn. Monday with a Mad Genius is about two people named Jack and Annie. They go in their Magic Tree House and go on a huge journey to Florence, Italy.
There they meet LEONARDO DI VINCHI
And do a week's worth of things in only one
Day. They traveled to a hill to try out his so
Called "flyer" and later in the day Leonardo
Did a self portrait of a woman, and that painting
Is a real painting in real life and is one of the most famous paintings in the history of art. I
Think Mary was trying to say that she was
Really interested in the Renaissance period
And Leonardo Di Vinchi. And she was saying
That you can too, because the book tells you
A little about the time period. So if you like
Fiction books or if you like history (the Renaissance) or if you just like to learn new things you should read this book.

I just can't say enough about this book! My six year old and I have read every book in the series and especially love the later books (the Merlin Missions). They are vivid with imagaery and are full of information that we both enjoy.

Carnival at Candlelight 5 out of 5 stars.
8 of 9 people found this review helpful.

"Carnival at Candlelight" by Mary Pope Osborne was a delight to read. I generally don't like the fantasy genre but I absolutely love the "Magic Tree House" series. One of the things that I love about this series of books is the author's ability to blend factual knowledge with adventure and excitement. As a teacher I appreciate this ability because I believe that students will learn a lot of facts from these books plus they will be enjoying a grand adventure too.
"Carnival at Candlelight" is the fifth book in a group of Magic Tree House books called the "Merlin Missions." Jack and Annie (the main characters) have a fantasy adventure in real places in real times. In this book they travel to the city of Venice, Italy. There they discover the mystery and magic of Venice.
This book is filled with factual informations such as, "Instead of roads, Venice has waterways called canals. People glide along the canals in shallow boats called gondolas."
Not only is this book filled with adventure and factual knowledge but it also has great illustrations. The illustrations in this book make the story come alive. The illustrations really give you an idea of how Jack and Annie feel during key moments in the story.
This is a great book for second graders as a read-aloud. Third graders could read it by themselves.

Editorial Review:

MERLIN HAS ASKED Jack and Annie to help on another Merlin Mission. This time they head back into history to Venice, Italy. With the help of a research book, a book of magic rhymes, and a set of mysterious instructions from Merlin, the heroes will save the beautiful city from a flood! Here’s another Magic Tree House book that will engage kids with history, magic, and nonstop action from beginning to end.
