Dolphins at Daybreak takes place at the Magic Treehouse, on an island and out at sea. Morgan le Fay, the master librarian, sends Jack and Annie to an island to look for three riddles. They go there in the Magic Treehouse. The first riddle they found was a pearl inside an oyster. Jack and Annie need to fins the riddles because they want to be master librarians like Morgan. A mini-submarine takes Jack and Annie to find the next riddle. It has cracks init and begins to leak. There are two dolphins nearby that save Jack and Annie from drowning. They also save them from a hungry shark. When they returned to the Treehouse, Jack and Annie found out that the Oyster was the correct riddle that they needed. Jack and Annie were on their way to becoming master librarians. I like the book !

Midnight on the Moon Review by Matthew Broome, 4 out of 5 stars.

Midnight on the Moon by Mary Pope Osbourne

This book was about a smart nine year old boy named Jack and his seven year old sister named Annie. I liked this book because it was very adventurious and fun to read. When I read this book I felt like I took an exciting trip into outerspace. Jack and Annie's goal on the moon was to find the last "M" thing from the four great series of books. To find out what happens to Jack and Annie on the moon, read this fantastic book. I give this book a 4 star rating because of its wonders and suspense. This is a book I would read again.

No Science in this Fiction 1 out of 5 stars.

Did Mary Pope Osborne do any research before writing this book?

First of all, when Jack and Annie are inside the moon base, there is normal gravity. Then, when they let the air pressure out so they can go on a moon walk, the gravity gets weaker! GRAVITY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH AIR PRESSURE!

Secondly, while Jack and Annie are walking around on the moon's surface, an asteroid falls down from the sky and lands in front of them, blocking their way out of a valley.

Um.

An asteroid that size would have made a huge crater. We are talking megaton explosion. Jack and Annie should have been space dust.

I know, I know, what about my willing suspension of disbelief? These are books about a magic tree house where mice understand human speech and time travel is possible. But why couldn't they visit a more realistic version of the moon? Osborne could have looked up a few simple scientific facts, couldn't she?

I hate to think of little kids growing up thinking that gravity is caused by air pressure.

Editorial Review:

Illustrated in black-and-white. Jack and Annie are whisked forty years

forward in time and land at an international space station on the moon.

There they don space suits and go exploring the lunar surface in search of the

fourth object needed to free the enchantress Morgan le Fay from a powerful

spell.

Editorial Review:

Sailing toward dawn, and I was perched atop the crow's nest, being the ship's eyes. We were two nights out of Sydney, and there'd been no weather to speak of so far. I was keeping watch on a dark stack of nimbus clouds off to the northwest, but we were leaving it far behind, and it looked to be smooth going all the way back to Lionsgate City. Like riding a cloud. . . .

Matt Cruse is a cabin boy on the Aurora, a huge airship that sails hundreds of feet above the ocean, ferrying wealthy passengers from city to city. It is the life Matt's always wanted; convinced he's lighter than air, he imagines himself as buoyant as the hydrium gas that powers his ship. One night he meets a dying balloonist who speaks of beautiful creatures drifting through the skies. It is only after Matt meets the balloonist's granddaughter that he realizes that the man's ravings may, in fact, have been true, and that the creatures are completely real and utterly mysterious.

In a swashbuckling adventure reminiscent of Jules Verne and Robert Louis Stevenson, Kenneth Oppel, author of the best-selling Silverwing trilogy, creates an imagined world in which the air is populated by transcontinental voyagers, pirates, and beings never before dreamed of by the humans who sail the skies.

Researchers Don't Believe Pyramids Built By Slaves 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

This is a very good book for children. It contains a lot of great information about Ancient Egypt. I read another review by a reader who was offended by the thought that the Pyramids weren't built by slaves. This was obviously a surprise to him but I had heard it elsewhere so it was no news to me. There were slaves in Egypt and I'm sure they were badly used in other jobs. They could have also been used to help build the pyramids, I doubt we will ever know exactly. This is a good book and no reader should pass it up over one shocked review. There's plenty of good information here and it is very interesting.

Editorial Review:

How were pyramids built? Why did people make mummies? What magic charms were buried with mummies? Who discovered King Tut's tomb? Unwrap the answers to these questions and more in Magic Tree House Research Guide #3: Mummies and Pyramids, Jack and Annie's very own guide to the secrets of ancient Egypt. Includes information on hieroglyphics, how mummies were made, tomb treasures and robbers, Egyptian gods and goddesses, and much more!

Not a fan of the Big Bang Theory 2 out of 5 stars.
15 of 76 people found this review helpful.

My kids love these research guide books from Magic Tree House writers but this one was a disappointment. One whole chapter was devoted to the big bang theory which we personally don't believe in. They should have skipped this chapter and focused on facts.

Space Travel 3 out of 5 stars.
6 of 68 people found this review helpful.

Once you are 100 miles above Earth, you are in space. Anything beyond Earth's atmosphere is space. There are a lot of planets, stars, and space rocks in space.
A spacecraft travels in space and carries supplies and people. A spacecraft has to go 25,000 miles per hour to get away from gravity and get into space. Spacecrafts have rockets to lift them into space.
Fuel is burning in the rocket at very hot temperatures. The hot gasses come out from the bottom and push the rocket up. Rockets were used 1,000 years ago as fireworks and weapons by the Chinese.
The Soviet Union and the Unites States had a race to have a spacecraft go into space. The Soviet Union sent the first satellite into space. A satellite is something that travels around a planet. The Soviet Union won that race. The United States put its own satellite into space and the race began.
An astronaut is a person from America that is trained to go into space. A cosmonaut is a person from Russia trained to go into space. A person from Russia, or a cosmonaut, orbited the Earth in less than two hours. He was the first person to orbit the Earth.
The United States and the Soviet Union had a race to get someone into space first. John F. Kennedy made a challenge to send someone to the moon before the 1960's were over. A lot of people worked for that goal.

Lions are not very Sweet Before Lunchtime 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

The book Lions at Lunchtime is a great book for little kids about the age of six, seven and eight. The book sent me into a magical land. I imagined that I was in the land with the characters. The book is about a boy and a girl who have a magical task to find out a riddle. They travel in the magic tree house that is owned by a librarian named Morgan. The author of this book, Mary Pope Osbornmade a series of Magic Tree House.

MY BOY LOVES READING IT 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

My 1st grader hates to put it down, he would rather read Magic Tree House books, than play video games. He even reads them to his class and explains the story for show and tell. In his kindergarten class the teacher would also let him read the Magic Tree House books out loud, not to give her a break, but to promote reading out loud. Great books!

Editorial Review:

Jack and Annie are whisked off to the vast plains of Africa, where they must

solve Morgan le Fay's third magical riddle. But that's only the beginning! Once

the riddle is solved, they still have to get past a pride of lions, a humongous

herd of rampaging wildebeests, and one very hungry Masai warrior.
