Not normal feelings 1 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

I was hoping for a book that covered normal feelings like happy, sad, proud, etc. Instead this book is about off beat feelings like "I feel like camping with my dog." I am sure this is an appealing story for little children with all of the bright colors and pictures. However, if you are looking for legitamate feelings this is not the book.

Love This Book 5 out of 5 stars.

Great way to teach kids that everyone has feelings - some serious and some silly. Drawings are fun, and the message is beautiful.

Another cute Todd Parr board book 5 out of 5 stars.

Illustrations are fun and funny, and helps me (Dad) "illustrate" emotions for my young daughter. She finds the faces funny.

Excellent book to read to curious toddlers! 5 out of 5 stars.

My son really enjoys when I read this book to him. He has learned to act out the feelings like "scared", "happy", "crying" and "cranky"... we both laugh together everytime we go through this exercise when we read the book. It has also helped me control his toddler tantrum - when he starts being cranky, I simply remind him of the book and tell him to act out the other "feelings" - and he totally forgets why he was cranky! Thanks, Todd Parr! I would definitely recommend this book to parents of other toddlers.

I was so overly pleased with this transaction and the quality of the book! Everything has been a great experience! This book was a great find. It would make a great present for a teacher or a child who has difficulty reading

Editorial Review:

Patricia Polacco is now one of America's most loved children's book writers and illustrators, but once upon a time, she was a little girl named Trisha starting school. Trisha could paint and draw beautifully, but when she looked at words on a page, all she could see was jumble. It took a very special teacher to recognize little Trisha's dyslexia: Mr. Falker, who encouraged her to overcome her reading disability. Patricia Polacco will never forget him, and neither will we.

Now this inspiring story is available in a deluxe slipcased edition with a personal letter to readers by Patricia Polacco. Thank You, Mr Falker will make a great end-of-year gift for the special child who needs encouragement-or any special teacher who has made a difference in the child's life.

Captivating 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Wild Magic, a book by Tomora Pierce and the first book in the series The Immortals, is about a girl named Daine. Daine was always good with animals. Then she leaves her home and realizes she is more than good with animals; she has magic. Her magic allows her to talk to them and they obey her. Her magic is about to run away with her when her new job sets her in the company of a kind mage named Numair. Numair helps her learn how to control and use her magic.
My favorite part was when all the birds in the story help Daine fight off several Stormwings. Even though they all die, Daine's powers seep out and bring the birds back to life, fix broken wings, and heal their wounds. This book would be great for anyone in to fantasy and fiction books, more for someone in 6th too 8th grade. I don't really know, older groups of people might like it as well. I give this book a 10 on a scale of 1:10.
This book has sparked my imagination. I am always thinking about how life would be if we had magical powers. This book is very entertaning and keeps the adventure going. I hope you read the other books in the Immortals series. This book captivated me. I hope you enjoy/ enjoyed it as much as I have.
-- Skylar Rowan

Editorial Review:

This first volume of the Immortals Quartet tells the adventures of Daine, a young girl on the edge of discovering her own magic-- and her powerful and strange connection to the animal world.

Probably the Best Junie B. Ever 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Hands down this is one of the best Junie B. books ever. I would say it is tied for first place with my other personal favorite, Junie B. Jones is a Beauty Shop Guy. This one will have you laughing out loud non stop! We have the book, and the recording, and we have listenend so many times, we all repeat the funny one liners along with Junie B.-even my husband! "If candy corn isn't corn, then what kind of vegetable is it?" If you don't have this one in your collection, get it!

Editorial Review:

Halloween with Junie B. has got to be a scream! Get ready for a “Halloweenie” adventure with the world’s funniest first grader!

“Despite Junie B.’s ascent to the rigors of first grade, Park’s feisty, funny heroine retains her trademark use of language, mirthful malapropisms, and essential larger-than-life personality.”—Kirkus Reviews

“First grade offers a whole year of exciting possibilities for Junie B. . . . As always, Park is in touch with what kids know and how they feel.”—School Library Journal

Review from my six year old daughter 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This book was interesting. At the beginning she talked all about her lunch box, and she bragged about it too. I liked this book because it was funny. The words were not to hard for me to read.

I think lots of first graders should read this book.

Our 6 yr old granddaughter is a big reader now and loves the books and the series. Only objection I have is to using some words such as "stupid" which she is not allowed to use in her school.

Junie B. Jones, Boss of Lunch and reading entertainment 5 out of 5 stars.

I have read many of the Junie B Jones series. As a teacher, the students can relate to Junie's silliness and uncertainty. Even I laugh out loud while reading with the studnets and I really can't wait to see what she will be into next.

Editorial Review:

A Junie B. Jones Book, #19

Something very wonderful is happening to Junie B. Jones. And it’s called—hurray, hurray!—she’s getting to be a professional lunch lady! And that means hanging out with Mrs. Gutzman in the cafeteria. And standing behind the counter. And even wearing a real actual hair net! Who knows? Pretty soon she could be the boss of the whole entire lunch operation!

Some really good and very original rhymes 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

These are not classic, everyday rhymes. Many of my books have the same old stuff over and over again e.g. Jack and Jill. This book has stuff like "The Dreadful Doings of Jelly Belly" and all sorts of amazing stuff. I read this one on my own, and if dad has time he reads me some of the more complicated ones. I like it. Valerie.

Editorial Review:

First published in 1986 and just as fresh and relevant today, this widely acclaimed, child-friendly poetry anthology is now being reissued with a striking new jacket. In his introduction to this book Jim Trelease, bestselling author of The Read-Aloud Handbook, writes, “No one better recognizes the essence of the child-poetry connection than poet and anthologist Jack Prelutsky. . . . Here are more than 200 little poems to feed little people with little attention spans to help both grow. Marc Brown’s inviting illustrations add a visual dimension to the poems, which further engage young imaginations.” The poems are by 119 of the best-known poets of the 20th century.

This is a very funny book - a kid's review 5 out of 5 stars.

I like this book because it is very funny. Junie B. Jones' class has pet day. Junie B. Jones doesn't know what to bring to school for pet day. Her grandma found a worm but she didn't want to bring it to school because it is slimy. Her grandma caught a fish from the lake. Junie B. Jones put it in a fish bowl. She wanted to bring it to school but she didn't. Junie B. Jones found something in the refrigerator. She decided to bring it to school. She brought it to school and it was a FISH STICK! I thought that was very funny. Junie B. was very glad. Do you know why? She was very glad because she got a prize and she got a ribbon. It says her pet was the "Most Well Behaved"! I recommend this book to others who like Junie B. books. I hope you enjoy this book.

Editorial Review:

There's going to be a Pet Day at school--only the rule is No Dogs! And

that's the only kind of pet Junie B. has! If Mother won't let her get a new

pet, then Junie B. will have to take matters into her own hands. Maybe a jar of

ants? Or a wiggly worm? Or--could it be--something even better? The world's

funniest kindergartner is back in her twelfth book!

Not great... 2 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Terry Practhett is one of my all time favourite writers, I've bought every book he's written since Mort and usually make sure to get them in hardcover. However I'm just not that impressed with Thud (or Going Postal for that matter). Over his last several books Pratchett seems to have dropped his previous tendency to rotate characters and scenarios, and bar Thief of Time and Monstrous Regiment, hasn't set a book beyond the borders of Ankh Morkpork in almost a decade.

This would be all very good and well if Pratchett hadn't decided to invest his personal philosophy in the situations his characters encounter in Ankh Morpork. More often than not I have felt like Pratchett's work is attempting to push a philsophical, ethical position and amounts to an amusing attempt to proselytize. As a result, humour takes a back seat to Pratchett's attempts to make points about the real world using the Discworld. After a while this becomes as annoying and patronising, and has the effect of blunting the edge of Pratchett's usually keen wit.

Personally I feel Pratchett hit his peak between Wyrd Sisters and Carpe Jugulum. The earlier work is like silly intellectual scattershot, and the more recent stuff is, quite frankly, rather flat. Perhaps if Pratchett wasn't being forced to knock out two books a year he could return to his previous levels of inspiration. Of course the very fact that I can only rate Pratchett against his own work is a testament to his genius, it's just I feel rather sad that I no longer feel the instant urge to buy a Discworld novel when I see it on the new arrivals shelf of my local bookstore.

Editorial Review:

Koom Valley! That was where the trolls ambushed the dwarfs, or the dwarfs ambushed the trolls. It was far away. It was a long time ago. But if he doesn't solve the murder of just one dwarf, Commander Sam Vimes of Ankh-Morpork City Watch is going to see it fought again, right outside his office. With his beloved Watch crumbling around him and war-drums sounding, he must unravel every clue, outwit every assassin and brave any darkness to find the solution. And darkness is following him. Oh ...and at six o'clock every day, without fail, with no excuses, he must go home to read 'Where's My Cow?', with all the right farmyard noises, to his little boy. There are some things you have to do.

Confusing - in a good way! 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I think that junie B. Jones realy made it sound like she was going to be the star of the play! But then everything turned around, when her part was picked she thought she got a dumb old boat. And then William sneezed in the middle of the show. It was confusing because too many things were going on!

This is a great book! It is EXCELLENT!! 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is about Junie B. Jones and a play. Junie is a ship in the play. The play was about Christopher Columbus and Junie says he didn't discover America. Read the rest of the book to find out what happens!

Editorial Review:

Ship Ahoy!

Room One is putting on a play. And guess what? It’s about explorers looking for the New World! And there’s ships and sea captains and everything! Plus here’s the bestest news of all—Junie B. Jones thinks she might be the star of the whole entire production! Only, sailing the ocean blue is not as easy as it looks, apparently. ’Cause problems keep on happening. Like the actors keep catching the flu. And bossy May keeps trying to take over the show.

Can this play be saved? Will the ships ever get to land? Or is Room One in for a disaster at sea that they will never forget?

Superbly illustrated, it captures the essence of Tom Sawyer the book 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

To understand America in the nineteenth century, you must understand Tom Sawyer. His life, so full of adventure set amidst the bustle of a changing nation, is in many ways the dream of nearly all male children. To spend your time swimming in the creek, gathering "treasures" and eating goodies is truly the good life. Tom's romance with Becky is also the way it is with most boys. Girls are universally considered to have some kind of contagious disease, when I was young, they had cooties, until you see that one perfect girl that you will share everything with.
The wonder and mischief of Tom and Huck are captured in this book, superbly illustrated by Michael Ploog. Tom is wide-eyed, freckled and has bulbous cheeks. Huck has a pointed nose, bright eyes and a suitably scruffy demeanor. With the exception of Sundays, the boy's clothes consist of a series of patches sewn over rags. This book is an excellent introduction to what is the tale of American youth of the nineteenth century, very appropriate for classes in English. Of course, after covering this book, the students should be required to read the original.

Editorial Review:

Tom Sawyer has an eye for adventure and is always getting into scrapes with his friends and partners in crime, Huck Finn and Joe Harper. His escapades often lead him into dangerous and desperate situations, but he always turns these to his advantage.
