This book is the third in the Capital Mysteries series. K.C. and her friend Marshal go to dinner with the president and find out that someone claims to be in heir to James Smithson. (The person that built the smithsonion institution.) When Marshal sugests they compare DNA to see if the person is related to James Smithson, The Heir Smiles, what is he up to??? Is he really an heir to James Smithson?? Or is he a fake?? Find out in Skeleton in the Smithsonion!! I reccomend this book to kids 5 and up.

Great book.....great series 5 out of 5 stars.

My two daughters ages 9 and 7 absolutely love the Capital Mysteries series including this book. We were surprised that we weren't able to find them in the shelves in any bookstore along side their other favorites like A to Z Mysteries,

Editorial Review:

When Leonard Fisher claims that the Smithsonian and all its museums belong to him, Washington D.C. goes into an uproar. KC Corcoran and her best friend Marshall have a feeling that there is something fishy about Fisher. But if they are wrong, the United States may lose the Smithsonian forever!

As always, Poppleton is a joy to read 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

This latest book of Poppleton is just as sweet and gentle as the others, and it is easy reading for my 2nd grader. You can't go wrong with this book. "The Bust" chapter is the funniest with Cherry Sue, in which Poppleton wants to sculpt a bust of Cherry Sue, but can't remember what she looks like. "The Icicles" chapter in which he meets a clumsy little finch, Patrick, and the "Sleigh Ride" are also good-natured stories that bring the feel of winter to the reader which is perfect for the upcoming snowy season.

Editorial Review:

In this easy-to-read chapter book, Poppleton the pig charms young readers with his quirky adventures and whimsical ideas! Poppleton grows an icicle garden and ends up with an icicle fence instead. He sculpts a bust of Cherry Sue without explaining his constant visits just to look at her face. And he wonders why he can't find a friend to go on a sleigh ride with. No one can go, because they're all preparing Poppleton's birthday party!

These hilarious stories feature simple language, everyday experiences, and beautiful illustrations--perfect for beginning readers!

Praise for the POPPLETON series:

"A wonderful, easy-to-read chapter book that will leave children laughing out loud." --School Library Journal

"Roundly appealing." --Publishers Weekly, starred review

"A perfect choice for beginning readers." --Booklist

Ron Roy can work wonders with his books! The Goose's Gold is the book when Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose go to Florida to visit Ruth Rose's grandmother. Something fishy is going on though. This book is excellent!

I think Goose's Gold is the best book because I like learning about gold.i learned something about gold because of the things the books they got said. I all so like sunken treasure. I like the they find out what Spike and Chip where and how they talked in a code.

Here's a Mystery for you 4 out of 5 stars.

I Liked this book. It was a great Mystery, it was exiting and interesting. If you like Mysteries you should read this book.
It was even funny at some times to. It is a Mystery about Gold. I liked this book because the kids solve the Mystery on the bad guys boat.

Editorial Review:

Sun, sand--and sunken treasure? That's what Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose discover when they go on vacation to Florida. An old ship has been found off the coast, and it's full of gold! Two divers are collecting donations to bring up the loot. They're promising to share whatever they find, but is this too good to be true? It's up to Dink and his friends to get to the bottom of it! A brand-new map of the Florida coast and fun black-and-white drawings make The Goose's Gold a must for kids who love mysteries!

The Haunted Hotel 5 out of 5 stars.

It was the first book I ever read in the A to Z mysteries. I like it because it was short and there were map in the front page. It about three kid, Dink, Josh and Ruth Rose who solve the mystery of the ghost in the hotel. Read it, you will like it.

Would you want to go to a Haunted Hotel? 5 out of 5 stars.

This book was great. I liked it because it was a good mystery for younger kids! My favorite part was when they found out who the ghost ...was! I think it was a good book and I hope other kids enjoy reading it like I did!!!!!!!

To all those mystery book readers. 5 out of 5 stars.

The time that I read this book I felt so thrilled for the ghost that tortures the Shangrala hotel. This book is the one reason that I bought the entire series. Ron Roy is a person that loves mystery books. I am glad he made those books because if he didn't then I wouldn't be thrilled by any other book.

Editorial Review:

A ghostly guest has checked into the Shangri-la Hotel! It's almost Halloween and reports of strange sounds and even stranger sights are coming from Green Lawn's only hotel. Hotel guests and neighbors are being scared away, and it's up to Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose to figure out what's going on--before Green Lawn turns into a ghost town!

A nice change-of-pace Christmas story 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

A delightful Christmas story that emphasizes giving of oneself and pokes a little fun at commercialism. Mr. Putter is as "light and airy" (or light and HAIRY as my five-year-old points out in chapter 4) as ever. Mr. Putter teaches us that we are never too old to learn!

A Wonderful Christmas Story - Mr. Putter and Tabby Style! 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

The Mr. Putter and Tabby series are the sort of books that I would have loved to have when I was a beginning reader. I know that I would have read them over and over again to no end, even once they began to fall apart from constant use. That's why I am so glad that Mr. Putter and Tabby are around now while my youngest brother is learning to read. The non-repetitious (words are repeated, but not enough to become explicit), non-rhyming storytelling contained within the books makes them a pleasure to read continually, unlike many other easy-reader books. And in my opinion, the Mr. Putter and Tabby books are a step in front of Ms. Rylant's Henry and Mudge collection, due to the fact that, in their own way, they create an appreciation for the elderly as the reader comes to love Mr. Putter, the aging main character whose only companion is his cat, Tabby.

In Mr. Putter and Tabby Bake the Cake, Christmas is soon approaching, and Mr. Putter must decide what to give Mrs. Teaberry, his fruit-cake-loving next-door neighbor. Mr. Putter does not understand how anyone could enjoy a fruit cake, and so he sets out to make Mrs. Teaberry a "light and airy" cake for Christmas, one that "could not break her toe if she dropped it." Young readers will follow along with Mr. Putter and his good cat Tabby as they try to make Mrs. Teaberry's cake, from start to finish. Mishap prevails, leaving you to wonder if they will ever get through in time. It all adds up to a cheery Christmas story about giving and the saying, "It's the thought that counts!"

Mr. Howard's cartoon-style illustrations greatly enhance this wonderful story, which is written in such a format to be used as either a 3-chapter book for the beginning reader, or a bedtime story that is longer in length. Either way, the Mr. Putter and Tabby books would be a great find for emerging readers' shelves. Like having a kindly old grandpa next door, they only make life richer!

Editorial Review:

Mr. Putter and his beloved cat bake a light and airy Christmas cake for their neighbor Mrs. Teaberry. “Howard’s relaxed, mixed-media pictures catch the nuances of the cozy, affectionate relationship between an old man and a cat with all the right moves.”--Booklist

Level 2 readers are for kids reading independently 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Level 2 readers are for kids reading independently and Henry And Mudge And The Big Sleepover provides another Henry and Mudge story with fine short chapters, varied sentence structure, and adventure. Here Henry is invited to a sleepover party and nighttime adventures seem to assure nobody will get to sleep, especially when a father decides to participate. Sucie Stevenson's drawings are fun embellishments.

Cute story 3 out of 5 stars.

Nothing special. My 7 year old read it with no problem. She enjoys it and reads it regularly.

Editorial Review:

Henry and Mudge are going to a sleepover at Patrick's house! There's pizza and popcorn, games and monster movies...and Mudge even has his own sleeping bag (he's too big to share Henry's). But will anyone at this sleepover ever get to sleep?

My 8-year-old son has enjoyed this book series very much. The reading level is comfortably easy for him and he enjoys solving the mysteries. It keeps him reading and even teaches him some facts at the same time. I recommend this whole series.

Mr. Putter's tummy is upset. HE ate too many of his neighbor, Mrs. Teaberry's treats. He hand his cat tabby, decide to go for a night time stroll. You will never guess who is out at this time of night as well!

I think Mr Putter is going to tie the knot! 4 out of 5 stars.

I love all the Mr Putter and Tabby books. My all time favorites are Mr Putter & Tabby, Mr Putter & Tabby Paint the Porch & Mr Putter & Tabby Pick the Pears. This one is up there but not a favorite. I do recommend it as I think it leaves the reader wondering if Mr Putter & Mrs Teaberry (the lovely, quirky neighbor) are going to get hitched. Read it to find out why and if you agree.

Editorial Review:

When Mr. Putter eats twenty-one pineapple jelly rolls, he ends up with a grumbling tummy. Worse, he can’t sleep! A midnight stargazing stroll with Tabby seems to be just the cure—but could it be that Mr. Putter and Tabby aren't the only ones still wide awake?

Just the right amount of mystery and intrigue! 5 out of 5 stars.

Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose visit an old castle on the coast of Maine and set out to discover what is making the screeching sounds which everyone believes to be a ghost! Along the way they run into flickering lights after dark, a secret underground passage and a dangerous, water-filled cave.

My 5-year old kept flipping back to study the map and wouldn't let me stop!

Excellent! 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is very good! In this book, Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose visit Wallis Wallice in Maine. Dink, Josh and Ruth Rose go lobstering, have a picnic, find a cave, and something else.

Book Review 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I think this book should get an average grade ("C"). I think this because, when I read the book, it didn't have me thinking what was going to happen next. I think this book is too obvious for me. But for the people who like to know what's going to happen, they would like this book. I think this book is more for kids who have their parents read to them. I give this book a "C". In the book, Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose go on a trip to a castle. They are all exited, but then, Ruth Rose discovers a Dungeon filled with dead animals. Through out the story, the three smart children try to figure what it is from. The rest is for the reader to figure out.

Editorial Review:

Dink's favorite mystery writer, Wallis Wallace, has invited Dink, Josh, and

Ruth Rose for a sleepover - in a haunted castle! But as soon as the young

detectives arrive, they start hearing screams behind the walls. Will they

discover who - or what - is haunting Moose Manor?

Great for those who love numbers 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Santa Claus brought this for my 3-1/2 year-old son who loves Curious George and anything to do with numbers and counting. We have read it at least once every day, and it is one of his favorite Christmas presents. It is a bit long, so we do read it in two sittings at times, but that doesn't diminish his enthusiasm for reading it. My son will even take the book out on his own and count the items in it.

Editorial Review:

Curious George is a good little monkey, and always very curious. Now George is curious about numbers. Countingfrom 1 to 10 is easy, but can he count all the way to 100? George has picked the perfect day to try. It's his town's 100th birthday today and everyone is coming out to celebrate!

With the help of his friend, the man with the yellow hat, George learns to countfrom 1 to 100, making his usual monkey mischief along the way. Young minds (and little fingers) will find all kinds of wonderful things to count as they turn each colorful page.

In this large format, paper-over-board book each page features familiar objects for children to count. From home (toys, shoes, plates) to the park (bugs, sticks, clouds) to school (paste, crayons, books) George finds many different things to count. A perfect book for celebrating counting, numbers and the 100th day of school.
