Awesome! 5 out of 5 stars.

This is one of the best books I have ever read! This series is about three kids who like to solve mysteries. In this book one of Ruth Rose, Dink, and Josh's friends autographed baseballs are stolen and they need to find out who stole them. If you love mysteries read this series! Ages 6-9.

Great Children's Mystery Series 5 out of 5 stars.

My daughter is working her way through all of these. They flow well, have a great storyline, and yet leave some clues for the kids to solve at the end. I don't know what she will read when she gets to Z.

Curious George Strikes Again 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 4 people found this review helpful.

Curious George and the Hot Air Balloon is another charming example of the magic Margret and H.A. Rey weave. Children will find this book enchanting. They will identify with George's curiousity, which causes trouble, and cheer when he saves the day. I enjoyed the delightful pictures. I also appreciated the simple, straighforward language and easy-to-follow story development. Fans of Curious George will love this story; those unfamiliar with his books will become fans.

Editorial Review:

While on vacation, George and the man with the yellow hat stop to see Mt. Rushmore. There's no time to take a helicopter ride for a close-up view - the hot air balloon races are about to start! Whisked up and away at the races, a surprised George gets a close-up view of the presidents after all. The adventures of Curious George continue in an all-new series beginning in fall 1998 with eight new stories. Written and illustrated in the style of Margret and H. A. Rey, the books will appear in paperback (8 x 8") and hardcover editions and will feature the art of Vipah Interactive, the animators of HMI's Curious George CD-ROMs.

On the Brightside, I'm Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

How do you deal with the emotional rollercoaster of catching the Sex God, and then losing him? That's what the main character, Georgia Nicolson, has to try and get through. Georgia is a 14 year old girl living in England (in the present day). The book starts out with Georgia living out her perfect dream. She is he girlfriend of a SEX GOD. But soon, she loses him o her enemy, Wet Lindsey. In an effort to get him back, she starts dating one of the Sex God's friends, David the Laugh. Throughout the confusion of that she has to deal with her poodle attacking cat, her (married) mother flirting with Dr. "George Clooney", and some definitely air-headed friends.

This is my favorite book I have ever read. But, I do have a favorite part in particular. You have to understand though, I had been laid over in the Kansas City Airport for 6 hours and I was completely sleep deprived. Anyways, my favorite part is when Georgia described how her little sister was sitting on her lap and she "let off the smelliest, loudest fart known to humanity. It came out of her bum-oly with such force that she lifted off my knee. Like a hovercraft".

After reading this book, it is clear to see that the main idea of this book is just learning how to deal with growing up and moving past the obstacles that life throws at you. You have to make all the wrong choices to finally see why the good choice is the best choice.

I loved how the problems Georgia went through were not only hysterical, but could also be recognized by all. The only thing that I would change about the book would be the format. I don't really like the whole diary-entry format. I believe that girls between the ages of 11-17 should read this book. They would relate to the trials and triumphs of Georgia the best.

Editorial Review:

Georgia Nicolson has started dating the Sex God (aka Robbie). So life should be perfect...except in Georgia's life, nothing is ever perfect. Her cat, Angus (the size of a small Labrador), is terrorizing the neighborhood. Her sister, Libby (who is slightly mad), hides her pooey knickers at the bottom of Georgia's bed. Her mother is clearly devoted to making Georgia's life miserable, and even her best friend, Jas, is "half girl, half turnip."

Then the Sex God breaks it off because she's too young. It's time for a plan. It's time for a Red Herring. It's time for Georgia to become a "heartless boy magnet!"

An Angel For Solomon Singer (by a 5 year-old reviewer) 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

I think it is one of the most perfect books ever. Since my mom bought it, well,I'm encouraged. Because I'm a student, I could have it for my schoolbook. If I could give it ten billion stars, I'd yell out, "Hey, Solomon Singer!" (Giggle!)

An Angel for Solomon Singer (By Christopher,a 7-year-old homeschooler) 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I like this book because it's very creative. It shows a lot of thought. Solomon learns a lesson to use his imagination more. He knows he cannot have balconies, change his walls a different color. And that is why he did not like his hotel at all. The author doesn't use simple words. For example, he doesn't say "a quiet voice said..." He says "a quiet voice like Indiana pines in November said..."
I recommend this book for all people.

WHAT A HAUNTING, PROFOUND STORY...... 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

This is one of those works that will stick with you. It is rather difficult to discribe. I do note, after talking to several people, and reading several reviews on this site and others, that each person who reads this one finds something a bit different. Myself, I was haunted, in a good way, and yet disturbed at the same time. The wonderful prose pulls you into this unknown mans life. The wonderful art work keeps you there. I personally love the work. I do recommend though, that it would probably be best to read this one with the young reader rather than let them try it by themselves for the first time. I find it difficult to think that a very young person would be able to identify with the lonely man in this story nor understand just what is happening (as a matter of fact, after several readings, I'm not all that sure myself, and I am as old as dirt). Be that as it may, this is certainly one worth giving a read, several reads as a matter of fact!

For lovers of animals and people!!` 5 out of 5 stars.

Wonderful stories!! Life as it is!! Having read these stories aloud to adults in nursing homes on numerous occassion and found them to satisfy our need to hear good resolves, we can all recommend this good read. "A Bad Road for Cats", one of the favorites, that hits the hard realities of human relationships and good resolves in our dealing with others when things aren't right. Stories of people finding there way through realationships with others and the place that animals play in our lives to make bridges. Read them! You will love them if you love people and animals. Write more of these Cynthia!

Touching stories about people and animals 4 out of 5 stars.

"Every Living Thing," by Cynthia Rylant, is a collection of 12 short stories. Although different characters appear in each tale, the collection as a whole is unified by style and by theme. Each story deals with an encounter or ongoing relationship between a human being and one or more non-human animals. Since the book is only 81 pages long, each tale is quite brief.

This is a gentle, moving book. Rylant has a gift for capturing resonant details. She also writes with great compassion for both her human and non-human characters. Her non-human characters come in many different species: a turtle, dogs, a parrot, squirrels, and more. Her human characters are also diverse: both adults and children, both male and female. I found one of the most memorable characters to be an alcoholic wartime veteran (from "Drying Out").

My overall favorite story in the collection, "A Pet," is about a girl who becomes the owner of a blind old goldfish. I would recommend this book especially to those interested in the short story as a literary form and to those interested in literature about animals. If you like this book, I would also recommend Phyllis Reynolds Naylor's novel "Shiloh."

Editorial Review:

Here are twelve deeply moving short stories from the perceptive pen of Cynthia Rylant. Each captures the moment when someone's life changes -- when an animal causes a human being to see things in a different way, and, perhaps, changes his life.

Editorial Review:

Dink, Josh, And Ruth Rose are back! This time, they’re off to a camp for detectives! The camp directors have set up a week of lessons in forensics and fun mysteries for the campers to solve. The kids are following the planned clues when they stumble upon a real crime. This exciting extension to the A to Z Mysteries chapter book series features favorite characters, a longer plot, alphabet clues, and a 26-letter message hidden in the art.

“I will be so sad when I have read Z, and there will be no more Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose.”—Jack P.

“I think if you’re not that busy, you could do every letter again.”—Abigail D.

With the publication of The Zombie Zone in April 2005, the A to Z Mysteries series was complete. But, A to Z fans, no need to fear . . . the A to Z Mysteries Super Editions are here! The fans wanted more, and they’re getting it—more adventure, more illustrations, more Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose—all in a book nearly double the length of standard A to Z Mysteries. The alphabet may be finished, but A to Z fun keeps on coming!

Curious George and the Puppy 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Excellent starter for young readers. My boys love him. This is very nice because I grew up with George too.

One of the Best Curious George Books! 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This past weekend we visited a bookstore and my son wanted not one, but SEVEN Curious George books to add to his collection (he already had several at home). Curious George and the Puppies was one of those books.

Curious George and his friend were in a park when they noticed a lost kitten who looked frightened. This delightful tale follows Curious George as he accompanies The Man With the Yellow Hat to the Animal Shelter to find the kitten a home.

While there, the director tells them that they're looking for a puppy that got out of his cage. As usual, TMWTYH leaves George unattended (!) and George ends up opening up a cage filled with dogs.

All the animals were making noise and chaos ensues. The director and TMWTYH put all the dogs back in the cage, but the craziness results in a very happy ending for all!

This 24-page book is geared towards ages 4-8, but it seems to have more text than most Curious George books. As such, it's great for beginner/intermediate readers. The illustrations are by Vipah Interactive, done in the style of H.A. Rey.

Curious George and the Puppies is one of the best of the CG stories because, unlike some of the books, no one goes ballistic on George--even to the extent of calling him names or trying to grab him in anger.

Editorial Review:

When George and the man with the yellow hat visit the animal shelter, George is delighted to discover a large litter of puppies. At first, George just wants to pet the puppy, but then he wants to hold one. George's curiousity gets the best of him, and soon puppies are everywhere. Fall 1998 marks the introduction of eight new Curious George Adventures available in three formats, hardcover, paperback, and paperboard. Fans will also enjoy Curious George in the Snow, Curious George Goes to a Movie, Curious George Goes to a Chocolate Factory, Curious George's Dream, Curious George Makes Pancakes, Curious George and the Hot Air Balloon, and Curious George Feeds the Animals.

Que buena practica 5 out of 5 stars.

It is what it is - too funny! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Oh, how clever Louise Rennison is. This hilarious novel reminds me a bit of a stand-up comedian's routine with a plot - of sorts. English teenager, Georgia, (the main character) has her own combination of slang and made up alterations of words that take a bit of getting used to at first. But her descriptions of events, friends, her own family, and life in general are so fast, funny, and furious, I could hardly stop laughing. Of course, it's all very silly, and Georgia comes across as perhaps a little to obsessed with snogging boys, or a bit too dim-witted at times, but then maybe not. In any event, if you like novels that are clearly intended to make you laugh, and you aren't looking for any deep messages except that there is always humor to be found in the strange and sometimes unbelieveably wacky things teenagers do, then this book is for you. Highly recommended for kids over 13 and anyone else who enjoys a good laugh.

Really, really bad binding. Fell apart on the first time through - and I am gentle with my books. Really excellent for language learning in Spanish, though. Not as traumatic and dark as book 6 (mistereo del principe).

La Orden del Fénix 5 out of 5 stars.
