DK Eyewitness travel guides are the best on the market and this one does not disappoint.

Editorial Review:

This guide to the islands of Greece is designed to be used when planning a trip, on holiday, and as a souvenir on returning home. It is organized with a thematic approach, district by district, with the aim of helping the reader to get to know the islands quickly. Every significant sight, location, building, museum and gallery, as well as major shops, hotels and restaurants, are shown on the page alongside practical information. It also contains 3D aerial maps, foolproof visual guides to currency, tickets and communication systems.

Wonderful Book for those looking to travel!! 5 out of 5 stars.

I have bought other books on traveling Scotland and this one is by far the best out of all of them. Full of detailed colorful pictures and suggested sites to visit. Wonderful book to look into!!!

Good read but could be better 4 out of 5 stars.

This read on Scotland is a good one, but I feel it could have done a better job of detailing information on Glasgow and Edinburgh. The images and content are great, but I just think it could have provided the reader with more information on Scotland's two largest cities. Worth the read though, especially if you're headed over anytime soon!

Great info and ideas 5 out of 5 stars.

Very handy as we drove around. Hit the main highlights of every region and even some off the beaten track. Useful maps within each section helped to plan the day's events.

Really Useful! 5 out of 5 stars.

I bought the same kind of book for Ireland by Travel Guide for our October trip this year and found all the information invaluable! We found every spot of interest talked about and even managed pictures which looked just like those shown. I bought this same book re: Scotland as we are planning our next trip!

Editorial Review:

From the commanding heights of Edinburgh Castle and Ben Nevis to the rolling Lowlands of Dumfries, and from the Art Nouveau splendor of Mackintosh's Glasgow to the enchanting stillness of a Highland croft, you will find an amazing amount to see and do.

I plan to take this along with me to Venice. It is the perfect size to carry with you and provides quite a bit of very useful information.

Just what you need 5 out of 5 stars.

I used this book for my recent trip to Venice. You can skip all guided tours offered by agencies in Venice, if you have this book. It is very helpful with historical overviews, but when come for food advices - just browse local restaurants and look for "tourist menue" (around 15-18 euros for 3 dishes, but be sure it doesn't' come with "cover charge" which is extra 2 euros). It is the best deal to get variety of dishes for reasonable prices. Also, visit Realto market for fresh fruits and vegetables, and small stores for ham and cheeses.

I went on day trips to Padova , Vicenza, and Verona. The book was extremely helpful for giving the guidance for day trips. Don't miss to try Recioto wine in Verona.

Editorial Review:

With Rick Steves as your guide, you're guaranteed to have an authentic European experience. Rick explains how visitors can best avoid crowds and make the most of their limited time in Venice. This brand new book includes tips for visiting all the top sights, and offers plenty of back door advice, such as how to get around by vaporetto-the cheaper alternative to a gondola. It also lists a variety of places to eat and sleep, and recommends day trips.

Don't buy this book 1 out of 5 stars.
7 of 9 people found this review helpful.

We've travelled all over the world using Lonely Planet guide books, and we've had a great experience with them. The Japan book on the other hand was the most useless guide book I have ever seen. We would arrive in a bustling part of Tokyo, open the book, and it would say, "just walk around, everything is good." I didn't spend $25 on a guidebook for that. The whole book seemed lazy, there were maps printed upside down, sights they write about and don't place on their maps and the most amazing things we did in Kyoto weren't in the book, we learned about them through our hostile. If you are going to Japan, don't buy this book, I would have preferred to have no book at all because I spent so much time frustrated at this book.

GREAT TOUR GUIDE!! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This was my first time in NYC and just LOVED it!! This travel guide, once again exceeded my expectations. I'm a fan of DK Eyewitness Travel Guide. I don't go anywhere without these guides. I feel lost without them. Its such a great guide with maps, recommendations, the metro map system, etc. The downside of this book is that it shouldn't be name 'NEW YORK', instead, it should be MANHATTAN. Since it ONLY talks about Manhattan. It should have a few pages dedicated to Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, etc. The metro system map it comes with is ONLY of Manhattan. But this is a great guide with EVERYTHING you need: History, schedules, information, etc. DON'T GO TO NEW YORK WITHOUT IT!! Plus it looks great for your collection.

Editorial Review:

At first glance New York City might seem overwhelming, but the Eyewitness Travel to New York will make the city feel uncomplicated. Take a bite out of the Big Apple as you discover New York's shopping, museums, restaurants, hotels, parks, nightlife, and theaters. This lavishly illustrated guide will enlighten your experience and make it easy to manage. Everyday in New York offers its visitors something new to see and experience.

Good Guide book 4 out of 5 stars.

First Eyewitness guide and I love it. Wish it was a bit more up to date.

Helpful 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I have used other "Eyewitness Travel Guides" before and I really like having all of the pictures, renderings, and map layouts. It makes it much easier to correlate what is in the book vs. what you are seeing in front of you. There were a couple of attractions (like the capitol or Washington monument) that were a bit tricky to get into or get tickets for, and it would have been nice if the book had covered those better.

The book was sufficient to be the only that I need, but still sufficiently small to stash in a bag and carry around with us.

Editorial Review:

Great information for tourists 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I have always been a fan of the lonely planet books, because they really help me find places to go in other countries. However, take my review with a grain of salt because, at this point, I have not taken my trip to Ireland yet. While it is informative and it has given me ideas of places to visit and hotels to stay in, I have not experienced what the book has said. However, it has helped me book hotels and design my iternerary.
