Gossip Girl tells the tale of the Upper East Siders sophomore year. It was really fun to read but the one thing I don't like in this series is the excessive use of inappropriate words. But the great thing about this book is that it doesn't focus on the female characters it also gave much importance to the male point of view. I like this one.

This book needs to be updated! It is a good book and good idea, but it needs references to things that kids of today can understand.

I love this book for the point it makes and the simple yet funny way it does so. My only wish is that it could be reissued with an update as many of the cultural references are outdated and have to be explained before children can understand the meaning or humor. It is a sweet classic though.

I just read this book for the first time to my 7 year old son. We recently re-read the original Alexander tale and he wanted to find the others in the "series" that he saw on the back cover. For my part, I have been searching for books that teach children about money, so this was great fun to read together.

This book illustrates the difficulties that children have in saving money. There are so many temptations on a daily basis to spend money that it can be hard to keep the end goal in sight. Viorst has made Alexander into a sympathetic character that most children will recognize, but his choices are clearly impulsive. The title of the book, and the way events unfold, make it possible for kids to recognize the mistakes Alexander is making. Hopefully it will lead to a bit of self-reflection.

It is a pity that some of the references in the book are out of date. My son had never heard of a bus token or deposit bottles before. Also, a few of the places where Alexander's money goes are going to seem odd to many children. For instance, he loses a small bet to his mother and is fined by his father for bad language and fighting. Still, I like that the story includes scenarios where money is lost in ways that don't have to do with spending.

I recommend this book for children ages 5-8, especially those who would benefit from a lesson in goal-setting, self-restraint and spending habits. The story also alternates between referring to coins by their name and by their value, a nice touch.

Gossip Girl 3 is better than ever! 4 out of 5 stars.

So... I got this book after reading the prequel, gossip girl, and then reading You Know You Love Me. I think the Gossip Girl series is so addicting, you can't help but fall in love. Basically, in this book.... everyone is just getting finished with their essays and SATs and exams and getting worried about college. If that isn't bad enough, Blair has a whole new "extended" family and is being wisked off to some island with them. I personally like this book because Blair and Serena are done being catty and have actually grown to love each other again! Serena met a rock-star named Flow and hung out for one night. Now she has a professional STALKER! Serena, Blair, Aaron, Tyler, Mr and Mrs. Rose, Miles, Flow and many others are going to St. Barts and we soon discover Aarons secret longing for Blair. Jenny and Nate are caught fooling around in Central Park and a video of them is posted on the internet! (Now, I wonder who we know has a video camera strapped to their hip?) Nate flys off with his parents to Maine hoping to be able to light a few joints and get away from stalker Jenny ( who i have now grown to hate for being such a nate-obsessed, annoying.. JERK!) who is stuck at home and being watched closely by Rufus and Dan. This book altogether is starting to form bonds between characters you NEVER expected to be bonded and altogher it has been one of my favorites. I mainly just gave it four stars because of some minor typos and how much Jenny has grown to annoy me. =] Im not always this compulsive... dont worry! ;) I would recomend this book to anyone and this is a lot more appropriate for people under 15 than the last books have been! I hope you enjoyed my review! Go ahead and read it! The worst that will happen is that you wont like the book and will put it down early... right?

Jumanji and Zathura are exciting books. Jumanji and Zathura go go together well. They are both exciting. In Jumanji a boy and a girl find a game and play. When they are done they put it back where they found it. Then two boys take the game. They think Jumanji looks boring, but tucked inside the Jumanji box they find Zathura. Then there is a lot of action. These two books are awesome! I highly recommend them to kids of all ages. -SB

"Jumanji" is a great book for some people, but a scary book for others. How can a game come true? If you believe in magic, the book will seem more real. If you read "Zathura" too, it will be even better. I would give ten stars if I could! Chris Van Allsburg creates some great books! My daughter is a senior in high school and we bought her the first series when she turned 16. She's now almost finished with the second set and is excited that she's almost to the third set. She likes the story line and it keeps her busy reading for fun which I like to encourage! I want all of my kids to find things they like to read.

It used to be that the Upper East Side was dominated by overpaid nannies pushing baby carriages, the Wall Street set gabbing on cell phones, and the trophy wives making their way up and down Fifth Avenue, shopping to their hearts content. But GOSSIP GIRL has proved that the Upper East Side is quickly being invaded by a group of privileged teens who know how to sparkle and shine, even in the dead of night. So watch your back.

Book 4: BECAUSE I'M WORTH IT - Contrary to what many believe, money certainly can't buy you happiness, and no one knows that better than the privileged members of New York society, and residents of the Upper East Side - namely Blair Waldorf.

Blair Waldorf has it all. The looks, the clothes, but she's missing two very important things - her hotter than hot ex-boyfriend Nate Archibald, and a spot at the prestigious Yale - a place of higher learning which she has had her sights set on since she could walk. But after a botched interview, Blair is seriously contemplating enrolling in community college - after all, in her opinion, that's probably where she belongs. Instead, she hacks off her hair during an Audrey Hepburn moment, then snags a re-do interview for her college of choice. But with her aggravating new stepbrother, Aaron, lurking around, she still can't find a moment of peace.

Blair's best frienemy, Serena van der Woodsen, doesn't mind Aaron's presence, however. In fact, she can't seem to get enough of it. In her opinion, for the first time in her life, she is madly, deeply in love with the dreadlocked, bohemian style that Aaron embodies. But maybe, just maybe, Aaron is beginning to feel suffocated by his girlfriend's presence, and the fact that she expects him to spend his spare time accompanying her to the various fashion week shows coming up - one of which she may be playing a role in.

And of course we can't forget Nate. His good looks may draw you in, but his constant dependence on marijuana can certainly work to deter you from taking a second glance. When he gets busted, it's finally time for him to turn over a new leaf in his life. Hopefully it won't be a marijuana leaf.

Jenny Humphrey and her brother, Dan, along with his girlfriend, Vanessa, of course, are still up to their old tricks; only slightly different. Jenny has picked up a new best friend who seems to think about nothing but romance - perhaps because Valentine's Day is right around the corner. And Dan has let the popularity of his first ever published poem go to his head, leaving Vanessa out in the cold. Never mind, she may just have someone else who can keep her warm - and appreciate her talent for what it truly is; even if it's slightly weird. 5 stars.

Book 5: I LIKE IT LIKE THAT - It seems as if Valentine's Day just passed, and already Spring Break is here, sending everyone into a tizzy - once again. Of course, when you're a part of the privileged set, Spring Break doesn't mean sitting around the house, watching daytime TV and pigging out on popcorn and chocolate. Quite the opposite, in fact. It's a time when you jet halfway around the world for a chance to ski or sunbathe, and, if you're lucky, create a little scandal.

Blair Waldorf wishes that she was one of the people talking about the scandal surrounding her; but, alas, as the daughter of a middle-aged woman who has just remarried, and is pregnant, she has been cast into the scandalous spotlight - much to her chagrin. No matter, with Spring Break looming, she may be able to break free from the current mess that is her life. When her mother announces that they'll be spending the vacation in sunny Hawaii, however, Blair couldn't be angrier. Luckily, her frienemy, Serena van der Woodsen, is there to bail her out.

Serena would do anything for Blair, so inviting her to spend Spring Break in Sun Valley with her parents and older brother, Erik? So not the drama. Besides, it'll be fun to have her BFF by her side on the slopes. But when Blair starts batting her big eyes at Erik, and flirting with him to the maximum extreme, it takes everything inside of Serena to make it through the week without strangling her supposed gal pal.

Nate Archibald has always had his head in the clouds thanks to his constant dependency on marijuana. But he's finally clean, and looking to have a little fun - sober, that is. Unfortunately, his new girlfriend, Georgie, has something different planned. She'd rather party it up with a little help from her friends - alcohol, prescription drugs, and anything else she can get her hands on. Too bad Natie's getting a little fed up with her non-stop inebriated state.

Jenny Humphrey has finally snagged a hot boyfriend in the form of Leo. His pale blonde hair is mesmerizing, and his passion for art is just what the doctor ordered. The only problem is his evasiveness. Jenny can't seem to get Leo to talk about himself, or his family; which is making her a little curious - and a lot more interested. Her older brother, Dan, however, is like a different person completely. With a published poem under his belt, and an internship at RED LETTER, he's acting like he's all that - his used-to-be girlfriend, filmmaker Vanessa Abrams simply thinks he's a rotten jerk. But maybe the two of them will be able to patch up their...relationship with one another before they both end up completely friendless. Maybe not. 5 stars.

Book 6: YOU'RE THE ONE THAT I WANT - Spring Break is over, and while some are hitting the books, the Upper East Side set is spending more time showing off their glowing tans, or nursing hangovers from a weeks worth of partying. But not everything is fun and games for the glamorous. Acceptance letters are on their way out from college admissions, and the time has come to find out where everyone will be spending the next four years. Hopefully it doesn't stress anyone out too much.

Blair Waldorf breathes, eats, and sleeps Yale. Since she was old enough to toddle around, she has known that Yale was in her future. It was her destiny. And now that college acceptance letters are in the mail, Blair can't think about anything other than holding that welcome letter in her hand. After all, she has spent her life working on accomplishing this goal. And, in her mind, once she's accepted, the world will be at her fingertips. As if it's not already.

Serena van der Woodsen has never had to work for anything in her life. When you're so effortlessly drop dead gorgeous, of course, it's no surprise. All Serena wants is to hang out, have fun, and make-out with cute boys. And as for college? Of course she applied to all of the Ivies. But when she takes her tours of the colleges, she'll be checking out one thing, and one thing only...how good looking her student tour guides are.

After a stint in rehab and a brief relationship/fling with a pill popping, whisky guzzling heiress, Nate has decided that it's time to buckle down, and start thinking about his future. But that doesn't mean that he can't indulge in a little debauchery - in the form of a joint - from time to time. When his college acceptance letters make it to his stale-pizza-smelling floor, however, he realizes that he holds in his hands something that could both jeopardize his relationship with Blair forever, and set him up for life. Now he has to make a decision once and for all; which seems unlikely thanks to the jumbled musings floating through his pot-addled mind.

Unlike everyone else, Vanessa Abrams isn't stressing about college acceptance letters because - surprise surprise - the little filmmaker of the hour already received her acceptance letter from NYU all those months ago. That doesn't mean that she won't exploit those who are in the midst of a sweat-inducing tizzy over the prospect of where they got in, however, via a documentary that will make you want to hide your head in a paper bag. But she has to do something to keep her mind off of her current hatred for her ex-boyfriend, Dan Humphrey. But Dan has enough problems of his own, now that he's attempting to fend off his classmates, who all seem to know a little too much about his younger sister, Jenny, and her ever-burgeoning chest. 5 stars.

Cecily von Ziegesar managed to drag readers in when she introduced us to Blair, Serena, Nate, and the rest of the Upper East Side set in books one through three. Now, our favorite scandal-creators, and troublemakers are back for another set of fun. But this time, everyone's a little more mature, and, quite possibly, a bit more paranoid than before. Lock your doors, shield your children - GOSSIP GIRL is on the loose!

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Jules Verne or sci-fi books. This book will definitely raise your curiosity levels. If you are like me, and are a die hard fan of the unknown, then this book is for you. At the beginning of high school, it's hard to imagine anything but graduating, and being able to be your own person, away from cliques, parents, and strict teachers who truly cramp your style. At the end of high school, however, those are the three things you crave. Especially when you're a Park Avenue Princess - or Prince - and the thought of change does nothing but make you break out in hives. But, as they say, all good things must come to an end.

Book # 7: NOBODY DOES IT BETTER - Everything is finally falling into place for Blair Waldorf. She and Nate Archibald are back together, and she has finally handed her V card over to him. Her mother gave birth to her little baby sister, Yale; and, much to her surprise, she absolutely adores the tiny tyke, and is shaping up to be the best big sister the Upper East Side has ever seen. The only thing that has her baffled and in a perpetual state of anger is the fact that she has been wait-listed at Yale. Even worse, both Nate and Blair's best frienemy, Serena van der Woodsen snagged spots at the Ivy league she wishes to call home, making her wonder whether two of the most important people in her life will leave her behind.

Though Serena van der Woodsen has a B+ average, somehow she got accepted to all of the Ivies - Yale, Harvard, and Brown, just to name a few. Now comes the hard part. Serena never realized that she was actually into the whole college thing, but now that she's begun to think about the future, she's convinced that this is a huge decision on her part. The only problem is that she's leaning towards Yale, and, knowing that Yale is Blair's number one choice school, Serena knows that Blair will wring her neck if she accepts the spot. Time to make a tough decision - her best friend, or her future.

Nate Archibald is up to his old tricks again, smoking weed to his hearts content. The only difference is that he and Blair are finally back together, and he's convinced that the two of them will be together forever. But now that Blair has been wait-listed at Yale, he wonders if everything will work out the way he has always hoped. Maybe if he could keep his lungs clear for more than a minute or two, he'd be able to reassure Blair that the two of them will never be separated, and that she'll definitely be accepted by Yale. Too bad he's so dependent on his little marijuana friend.

Vanessa Abrams thought that things were finally back to normal between her and her morbid poet boyfriend, Dan Humphrey. The two were living together in Williamsburg, soaking up the pleasures of being a happy couple. But after an out-of-control party, and an unexpected houseguest, the two bid adieu to one another; Vanessa being left by her lonesome, and Dan being recruited as the singer/songwriter for the band The Raves. Now it's Dan's little sister, Jenny's time to misbehave. Jenny Humphrey has always been the good girl, doing what she was told, and acting demurely. But after developing a fascination with boarding school, Jenny has decided to indulge in a little debauchery of her own. Suddenly, she's partying all weekend with college-aged rockers, breaking Constance Billard's dress code, and even modeling in big-time fashion spreads alongside Serena. If Jenny's not careful, she may just end up elsewhere next year. But maybe that's what the pint-sized vixen is hoping for. 5 stars.


Book # 8: Blair Waldorf finally has everything she's ever dreamed of. She has moved off of the wait-list at Yale, and is finally a full-fledged incoming freshman. She has her best friend, Serena van der Woodsen, in her good graces. And Nate Archibald is finally hers - forever. Or so she thinks. When she catches Nate and Serena in a compromising position during the Senior Class Trip, Blair knows that it's time to write off best friends and boyfriends. But when she meets the handsome Brit, Lord Marcus Beaton-Rhodes at the Yale Club - her new abode - all bets are off.

Everything has always come easy to Serena van der Woodsen. Without trying, she managed to snag a spot at all of the Ivy leagues, steal her frenemy, Blair Waldorf's boyfriend, and become nominated for Senior Speaker for her upcoming graduation. Unfortunately, the only thing Serena truly wants is to be back with her buddy. But when a starring role in Ken Mogul's upcoming film "Breakfast At Fred's" opens up, Serena knows that she just has to try out for the coveted part - even if it means angering Blair even more. When Blair stops talking to him due to his little indiscretion with Serena, he decides to give a relationship with S a chance. But maybe the two of them aren't cut-out for a full-on relationship. If Nate's tears, and his new dependency on the little pills he snagged from his Coach's desk are any indication, it might seem as if Nate actually has true feelings for the high-maintenance Blair. Lets just hope that he manages to graduate, or else he'll never have a chance of getting her back when they're both Yalies.

That's not a problem for Jenny. She has always wanted to go to boarding school, and now is her chance to choose the perfect one for herself. Everyone beware, she's on the loose. After ditching Vanessa Abrams for a shot at rock stardom, Dan Humphrey has found himself holed up with his notebook even more often than usual, pining away for the alternative chick he knows and loves. But, alas, Vanessa is in the arms of another man - Blair's stepbrother Aaron. Aaron, however, isn't necessarily the guy Vanessa is searching for. Maybe, with a little luck, she'll go crawling back to Dan - again. 5 stars.


Book # 9: ONLY IN YOUR DREAMS - Since meeting Lord Marcus, Blair Waldorf has been on cloud nine. Not only does he have the most charming British accent, but he makes the gorgeous Nate Archibald look pale in comparison, and, as an added bonus, he has invited Blair to spend the summer abroad with him in England. Blair just knows that this is it. Marcus will propose to her, and the two of them will ride off into the sunset. But Marcus is totally different in England. In fact, if Blair didn't have her American Express card in tow, she may have actually been lonely as he basically abandoned her to cavort with his horse-faced cousin. It's enough to make her long for her friends and family in New York.

While Serena van der Woodsen is heartbroken that her frenemy Blair Waldorf is vacationing abroad, she can't help but be relieved in the wake of her absence, for it gives her more time to concentrate on nailing the role she just landed as Holly in Ken Mogul's Breakfast At Fred's - a remake of Breakfast At Tiffany's. While Serena is being hailed as a young ingenue, she can't seem to get it right when it comes to being Holly. And the fact that she's been cast opposite uber-hottie Thaddeus Smith. Serena wants more than anything to do well in the first role of her life, but Thad has a way of making her forget her lines, and fumble in more ways than one.

Nate Archibald has finally written off girls. After botched relationships with both Blair Waldorf and Serena van der Woodsen, he is convinced that this is his summer to be free from females, and to get his head on straight. Besides, he needs to reserve enough energy for fixing up his Coach's house, so that he can finally receive his diploma. But when he meets a Hamptons townie named Tawny, Nate's reservations about females are thrown out the window. Suddenly, he can't think about anything other than hanging with the fake-baked Tawny, and smoking joint after joint. Looks like someone's summertime resolutions have, once again, been cast to the wind.

After a torrid love affair with one another, Dan Humphrey and Vanessa Abrams are finally back together - but not for long. Working at the Strand, Dan meets a yoga-loving hottie, and finds himself drawn into her wacky world, leaving Vanessa in the dust. And Vanessa, working on Ken Mogul's new film Breakfast At Fred's is forced to succumb to harsh criticism that is undeniably undeserved. The only one having fun seems to be little Jenny Humphrey who is completely out of the picture. After receiving her acceptance letter to the exclusive Waverly Academy, Jenny headed off to Amsterdam to spend her summer enjoying the art of the European countryside. Now the only question that remains is whether or not we'll be seeing this pint-sized Picasso again. 5 stars.

The two previous boxed collections held six of the most engrossing teen tales on bookshelves, and the third collection does the same. Books seven, eight, and nine mark an amazing time for our favorite Upper East Side pals. Besides waiting to hear from colleges who will either accept or decline you, we accompany these characters - who have grown to be much like close friends - as they tread the uneasy waters of going all the way, holding back, experimenting with new lifestyles, and even trying their hand at new professions - such as acting and modeling. Through it all, Gossip Girl keeps us up-to-date on everything taking place, and provides us with the lowdown on everyone - whether they're in town, or out of the country. If you've read the rest, it's time to read the best. Fun, frivolous, and fabulous - just what the doctor ordered!

This is the third gossip girl novel. So far out of reading all of them so far, this is my favorite. I like the plot that Jenny and all the characters were into. They live the perfect lives and it's just hilarious to see what they're going to be doing next.

Dan is the poet, Vanessa is the girl who knows what she wants to do, Blair is used to getting everything she wants. This sometimes happens. And Serena is just the star, who out glows them all in the plot. Nate is just pathetic in my opinion.
