a mom's review.... 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

beautifully illustrated, heartwarming childrens stories. Even though the Angelina stories are geared towards girls, my little boy, at 8, enjoyed these as well, especially when mom read to him. These are good stories to read to your child at bedtime.

The artwork is detailed and delightful to look at-you'll see new things each time you look, and children love that that every scene is filled with many little mice.

This Angelina story deals our hopes and dreams(in Angelina's case constant dancing)-to follow your dreams but at the same time know there is a time and place for fun, and a time to do your work. Each book is filled with wonderful life lessons told in a gentle, non preachy way.

I highly recommend this series for any child.
5 stars!

Editorial Review:

Angelina Ballerina is the picture book that first introduced Angelina to her adoring fans. This tiny dancer has proved to have enormous staying power—she has been a hugely popular character for more than twenty years. And Angelina’s popularity only continues to grow. She is even the spokescharacter for National Dance Week. With Katharine Holabird’s lively writing and Helen Craig’s charming illustrations, the original story about the feisty little mouse who wants nothing more than to dance still keeps young ballerinas leaping with delight.

This book IS a ballet class! 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

Great book! I don't know enough to teach my 4 year old ballet, so I narrate for her living room ballet class by reading the book aloud. I love the fact that it shows me how to pronounce the names of various ballet steps. Plus the descriptions of the steps are good enough that I can help her learn some. The flip book is a fun extra, but don't buy the book for that as it is hard for little hands to 'flip' the pages. Use ribbon to tie it together (with knot) so it's safe for younger kids too.

Wonderful gift for "Nana's" 5 out of 5 stars.

My nine-year-old granddaughter is just starting ballet, with the help of me, her long-ago dancer "Nana." These Angelina Ballerina books make perfect gifts for her - thank you for making lots of t hem! We got this one first, before her first class, so that she could see some of the "steps."
Since then I have given her more, and in fact just ordered another one. She always loves them, and so do I. The illustrations are charming, and there is a nice moral in most of them.

Editorial Review:

Come along as Angelina spins, twirls, and dances her way through Miss Lilly's ballet class. With instructions for each step, little girls can learn to dance just like Angelina! Cardstock pages and ribbons are included to make your own flip book to make Angelina dance!

Wonderful tale 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Beautiful art work and a well paced story, makes this book a favorite at our house. Angelina gets casted as the Rose Fairy Princess, but learns that she will have to fly across the stage on one thin wire. She tries to seek help with Mrs. Lilly, Alice, and even Zivo. The story unfolds well and my daughter was reassured that the adults in her world would not put her in danger - just like Angelina had nothing to fear.

I love this book! 5 out of 5 stars.

I really like this book. I thought it was very, very, very, funny when horrible Penelope Pinkpaws becomes jealous when Angelina is chosen to play the Rose Fairy Princess and she is cast as the dancing flower. When Angelina realized she had to fly across the stage on a single wire, she has to overcome her fear to keep the part. When Angelina tries to fly on a single wire during rehearsal, she tricks Miss Lilly into thinking she fainted. I never tricked anyone into thinking I fainted. And I've never played in a famous ballet before. I've only played in a school play.Penelope thinks Angelina won't be able to dance the part. But Miss Lilly doesn't recast Penelope as the Rose Fairy Princess. Angelina suggests Alice will fly across the stage instead. But when their plan fails, Angelina doesn't want to let Miss Lilly down. She flies on the single wire. My favorite part was when Angelina is cast is the Rose Fairy Princess.

Editorial Review:

Angelina is so excited that Miss Lilly has given her the part of the Rose Fairy Princess in the new ballet—until she finds out she needs to fly across the stage dangling from a single wire! Angelina is terrified, but she knows the show must go on. So Angelina and Alice secretly decide to send Alice soaring across the stage in Angelina’s place. Will their plan work?

Reprint of older, out-of-print book! 4 out of 5 stars.

If you already own 'Angelina's Birthday Surprise', don't buy this book! It is identical in every way. I know because I purchased both to complete my daughter's Angelina book collection, since there we no details on either book at the time. It is another cute Angelina book. This one is about Angelina having a bicycling accident which ruins her old bike, then getting a new one as a surprise birthday gift after working hard to earn the money to purchase it herself.

Wonderful 4 out of 5 stars.

In this next book in the Angelina Ballerina series, Angelina prepares for her birthday. However, getting into a bike race with her Alice, Angelina hits a rock and damages her bike beyond repair. When her mother suggests that she can work to raise the money for a new bike, Angelina throws herself wholeheartedly into her work, and birthday are such wonderful times...

Such a wonderful book! I do love Katherine Holabird's work! Although I should say hers, and Helen Craig's, for the illustrations do make this book come so alive. My daughter and I love this book, and recommend it to you.

Editorial Review:

It’s Angelina’s birthday, and there’s going to be a party! She and her best friend Alice happily ride their bicycles to Mrs. Thimble’s General Store to buy decorations. But as they race home, bang! Angelina hits a rock and breaks her treasured bike. She works hard to earn money for a new one, but the most beautiful bike is very expensive. Will Angelina’s birthday be ruined? Or will it be the happiest and most surprising one ever?

If you love something let it go ! 5 out of 5 stars.

This is a great story that has been adapted from the Television series by Katharine Holabird. The story shows how Angelina the mouse finds a lovely pink butterfly that has hurt it leg. The story show how Angelina wants to keep the butterfly as a pet after its leg it healed, but begins to have second thoughts.
Colorful pictures on every page of this book help keep the readers attention, while the story really shows kids that maybe a trapped animal is really better if it is set free. This book shows a good moral lesson for readers of any age.

sure you may want your child to read but this cheap booklet is not worth it. you assume the animation is actually the books brought to life but it is not. the book is visually uninteresting and not well done.

Editorial Review:

When Angelina finds an injured butterfly in the park, she takes it home to care for it . . . then doesn’t want to part with it. It’s Henry who sets an adventure in motion that underscores a message all young children can understand.

Angelina Ballerina, the "Nutcracker" ballet... and a bunch of stickers, too! How can you go wrong? This is a nice stickerbook, as stickerbooks go, with an actual story, and all the Angelina characters we know and love. Works well on every level, and (if you don't cover the text) can still be used as a storybook, once the stickers are all used up. (ReadThatAgain)

Editorial Review:

It’s Christmastime, and Angelina and her friends are having a Secret Santa party. Angelina opens her gift from William, and she is surprised to find that he has given her a nutcracker! That gives Angelina an idea—she and her friends should put on their own little performance of The Nutcracker for family and friends. Over 75 reusable stickers for Angelina fans make this performance truly spectacular!

My daughter and I both love this book! 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

"Angelina and the Princess" is the first of the Angelina series my daughter and I have, but we plan to get the rest as we love this so much. Angelina is a tiny white mouse who yearns to be feminine and sweet, but is sometimes headstrong and silly--just like most girls I know (including my five-year old daughter!). Angelina has a dance recital coming up and she is pining away for a major role. However, as she's sick on the day of auditions, she doesn't do well and in fact, barely is able to crawl back home and into her worried mother's arms. She knows she did poorly, and her mother admits as much too, which brings me to one of the things I love about this book--there's no sugar-coating the fact that Angelina has gotten herself into a pickle. It's a storybook, and a fantasy at that, but it's realistic enough to keep the edge off the sweetness.

Angelina is counseled by her mother to do her very best. I don't want to give away the ending, but by keeping a cheerful attitude and trying to do her best for the whole dance company, Angelina is amply rewarded. It's a story with a moral, but the moral isn't presented in a sickeningly sweet way.

The illustrations by Helen Craig are truly a treat. Set vaguely in a Victorian England mousedom, they depict tiny cottages with climbing vines, drapey dresses with floral prints, tiaras, bouquets, adorable furniture, and so on. Three cheers to both Helen Craig and author Katharine Holabird for a book which is a joy to read and great fun to peruse just for the illustrations alone!

Editorial Review:

Available for the first time from Viking, Angelina and the Princess and Angelina on Stage are two beloved Angelina Ballerina stories. In Angelina and the Princess, Angelina hopes to dance the starring role, but instead is cast in a tiny part. She is so disappointed that she wants to quit ballet. Eventually, though, she decides to work hard for her friends in the performance. Angelina’s decision leads to an unexpected turn of events--and a happy ending for everyone.

In Angelina on Stage, Angelina has a part in a grown-ups’ ballet, and so does her cousin Henry. But Angelina’s excitement turns to jealousy during rehearsals when Henry becomes the favorite. Will Angelina and Henry still be friends after the performance?

A good addition to a Christmas story library 5 out of 5 stars.

This beautifully illustrated tale gives the reader a warm feeling when a retired postal worker, who is alone in the world, is visited by Angelina and invited to appear as Father Christmas at the school Christmas show. The community appreciates his contribution and he is invited to the school show every year. This is a wonderful reminder to us all that the elderly should not only be cherished, but that they still have much to offer to the community.

'Angelina's Christmas' is a charming addition to the mouseling library, and a wonderful holiday classic for all! 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Young Angelina Ballerina couldn't be more upset when she spots old Mr. Bell sitting all by his lonesome at Christmastime, looking like a sad puppy. Mr. Bell used to be the jovial postman in town, who brought gifts and cards to everyone during the holidays, and played the town Santa Claus for all of the little mouselings. Angelina, full of Christmas spirit, decides that it is up to her to make Mr. Bell's season bright. So, with the help of her young cousin Henry, as well as her father, Angelina bundles up some cookies and cakes to bring to Mr. Bell. But when they arrive, Henry is too concerned about Christmas Eve, and whether or not he will have the chance to see Santa Claus in the flesh, to notice the joy that twinkles in Mr. Bell's eyes at the prospect of visitors and good, old-fashioned holiday cheer. When Henry learns that Santa Claus comes in the middle of the night, and that he won't get to speak to the illustrious Saint Nick, he bursts out in tears. That is, until he learns that there's a live Santa Claus living amongst them all, right here in town, and that his presence will not only bring a smile to young Henry's face, but fill old Mr. Bell with the joy of the holiday, as well.

ANGELINA BALLERINA can be called nothing less than a children's icon. Her presence in numerous glorious children's books, and now in her own TV show make her more and more well-known, while her lovable, kind heart grows bigger by the day. Katharine Holabird works wonders with a pen, as she tells the tales of the young, ballet-loving mouseling who has big dreams, accompanied by an even bigger heart; while the gorgeous, full-color illustrations by Helen Craig bring each and every Angelina "tail" to life. ANGELINA'S CHRISTMAS is a charming addition to the mouseling library, and a wonderful holiday classic for all!

Editorial Review:

When Angelina Ballerina sees old Mr. Bell all alone at Christmastime, she decides to bring him some holiday cheer. In this next book in the Angelina Ballerina series, Angelina prepares for the New Year's Eve Ice Dance. It's a lovely pageant, but she repeatedly finds her practice interrupted by Spike and Sammy, two boys from the school. When she complains to her mother, Mrs. Mouseling explains that the two boys just want her attention. And so, Angelina forms a plan to include the two boys...

Once again, I must say that Katherine Holabird sure knows how to write a wonderful story. I liked the lesson of the book, and my daughter and I both loved Helen Craig's illustrations. We highly recommend this book to you.

Angelina Ice Skates 5 out of 5 stars.

I fell in love with Angelina when I was young and the first book came out. I recently read Angelina Ice Skates and loved it as I did all the others. The Angelina books all teach a lesson, yet put the characters in situations that real children could end up in. In Angelina Ice Skates, Angelina and her friends are having trouble with some of the boys at the rink. Her mother gives her some advice and all works out in the end. The perfect length for a bedtime story, I would recommend this book for all children's libraries, especially little girls who want to be ballerinas.

Editorial Review:

Angelina is planning a New Year’s Eve ice dance for everyone in Mouseland. All of her friends are taking part—even little cousin Henry. But two big boys from school keep interrupting their rehearsals. When a giant snowball fight breaks out, Angelina is sure the dance will be ruined. Will she find a way to make the show a success?
