Now fully redesigned, this new edition of Cadogan’s unique three-city guide contains the most up-to-the-minute practical information and listings, along with color photographs and maps. Vienna, Prague and Budapest are growing in popularity as city break destinations thanks to their beautiful city centers and increasing number of trendy restaurants and hotels. Prague offers the ultimate romantic getaway with its stunning medieval Old Town, cobbled streets, gothic churches and magnificent castle, the largest ancient castle in the world. The center of Vienna is UNESCO-listed and is a cultural paradise, featuring several excellent museums, the stately Imperial Palace that once served as the residence to the powerful Hapsburg dynasty, and Sigmund Freud’s house. Meanwhile Budapest, a veritable fountain of medicinal waters, is home to dozens of swimming pools and bathing halls dating back to the Turkish Occupation and a wonderful place to relax in a spa after all that sight-seeing and shopping.

We traveled to Bologna and Emilia cities and Appenines in September 2008. We loved every minute of it- great food, nice people, and beautiful scenery. This book gave us the best recommendations for restaurants and hotels, with interesting historical background. Well written and fluent.

Editorial Review:

Americans are discovering a place Europeans have known for centuries - lovely Emilia-Romagna, home of spaghetti bolognese, Pavarotti, Parma ham, Lambrusco, lasagna, macaroni, balsamic vinegar and much more. Now fully redesigned, this new edition of the only guide available to this essentially Italian region contains the most up-to-the-minute practical information and listings, along with color photographs and maps. Cadogan's best-selling authors unearth treasures to compare with those of Tuscany and Lombardy: visit beautiful Bologna, a city whose historic center is considered one of the best preserved and maintained in Italy, and the pretty mountain valleys that lead to the Apennines. Rimini, Italy's vast, madcap, international resort is explored, as is San Marino, the world's smallest and oldest republic, nestling in the region's corner. This guide uncovers a region people know better than they think.

friendly and factual 4 out of 5 stars.

I found this book to be most helpful on a quick jaunt into this lush, charming area. The information and guides for Campeche and environs were most precise, including the most sophisticated and elegant restaurants, hotels and day trips. What I felt was strong research helped lend an air of authenticity and credence to the areas we visited, steps above other books that seemed to be mostly backpacking guides to this lovely area.

Editorial Review:

Explores the distinctive culture and history of the Yucatan, with its Spanish colonial heritage and modern Mayan communities provides detailed insights into the area's Mayan legacy - the magnificent ruins of Chichen Itza and the Giant Catacombs at Loltun encompasses the southern states, including Campeche, Tabasco and Chiapas reveals empty tropical beaches, wild turtle islands, old pirate villages and some of the most glorious coral reefs in the world provides expert advice on the best diving centres and where to cave-dive, kayak and parasail 'Tabasco is sexy. Foreigners may have heard of the Olmec relics of La Vanta, but the part of modern Mexican folklore that everyone seems to know is that Tabasquenas are the most beautiful women in Mexico.'

Editorial Review:

The South of France is a legendary holiday region: the classic luxury destination where everyone longs to be. In this fully updated and revised edition, Cadogan weaves through the landscapes that inspired Van Gogh, Cézanne, Matisse and Renoir, covering a swathe of the country from the Alps to the Pyrenees. Authors Dana Facaros and Michael Pauls, who have lived in France for many years, get to the heart of the region. They reveal the peaceful lavender fields and rolling hills of Provence, and explore its contrasting cities: the salty, bustling port of Marseilles and the elegant university town of Aix-en-Provence. The guide also covers the glamorous French Riviera, where the Cannes film festival is held each year and dukes and millionaires gamble in the casinos of Monaco. Now fully redesigned, this new edition contains the most up-to-the-minute practical information and listings, along with color photographs and maps. The guide also offers an unsurpassed commentary on the world-renowned wine regions of the Rhône, Orange, and Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

This lush, rural corner of France where four great rivers meet offers good food, good wine and good living. Cadogan’s foray into the home of gastronomic indulgence now sails into its fifth edition. Authors Dana Facaros and Michael Pauls lived in the Lot for ten years, and the guide bursts with their intimate knowledge of the region. They explore the world’s most celebrated vineyards along the Dordogne and Lot rivers, through Bergerac, Saint Emilion and the medieval city of Cahors, with detailed wine critiques along the way. From Bordeaux to Toulouse, the region’s two fascinating cosmopolitan cities, they reveal the density of historic and natural treasures the region has to offer; from the earliest known prehistoric art at the Lascaux caves to the beautiful Renaissance town of Sarlat. Now fully redesigned, this new edition contains the most up-to-the-minute practical information and listings, along with a stunning section of color photographs and useful maps.
