Kipper and his little friend Arnold are on an alphabet search. It all starts when the young pig Arnold finds an ant. "Aa is for ant. And Arnold." Well, to be perfectly honest, it starts a little earlier, before the book even officially begins, when Kipper the pudgy brown dog tells a zebra, "We won't need you till much, much later." Throughout, as Kipper and Arnold find (and sometimes lose) a buzzing bumblebee, a caterpillar (actually, the caterpillar finds them), a duck, and a menagerie of other alphabetized critters, the earnestly eager zebra appears, ever hopeful that his day in the sun has arrived. "Nn is for No, not now!" Kipper tells him. After "Juice...And a bit of jam, too," "Splish! Splosh! Splash! And six squishy slugs," and V, which is "very, very hard" (when they can't find a volcano, they make a picture of one instead), the zebra asks one last time. "Is it my turn? Is it? Is it?" Kipper is happy to report, "Yy is for Yes!" The zebra stands proudly in the middle of the page, and everyone says, "Zz is for Zebra!"

This book tells a very simple story about Wibbly Pig. Wibbly pig happily builds a sand castle then eats an ice cream. He is surprised by a wave and loses his ice cream. This leads Wibbly to be upset, but he is soon cheered up by a dog and is happy once more! The text is very basic (i.e. "Wibbly Pig is busy"). However, this book promotes conversation between parent and child because the parent can discuss what is happening in the picture. The illustrations are sweet and Wibbly is adorable! This board book is larger than most which make it easy for little hands to explore. I think this book is probably best for infants up to 3 years. This book is fun to read and my baby loves it!

I purchased several copies of this book years ago for my own children and to give as gifts. It is my godchild's favorite book to read at night. The familiar parables are given an amusing twist with illustrations which enhance the story line and strengthen the underlying lesson. I love this book for both the content and the illustrations and would love to see it reprinted.

Great story rhythm. Pictures are charming, mixing the past with the familiar present items the children will recognize easily. Just the right mix of text and pictures. I read this to my son when he was 5 or 6 years old and when he could read, he read this by himself. Now I want to give my grandkids the chance to read and fall in love with this book, just like we did so many years ago. It is a classic!!

Both my kids enjoy the Kipper stories and I love the illustration style. The stories are short and the words are familiar for beginning readers. I wish I could find more Kipper books.

This little pig doesn't want to go to bed and she makes herself busy with excuses and routine before heading to dreamland. The illustrations are great. This book would be a perfect story before bedtime. I give it five squeals...or stars.

My kids, twins aged 18 months, scream "Wibbly Pig" everytime I try to sneak the book into the room. Their little faces light up. Indeed, "Wibbly Pig" was the among the first words spoken by both of them. Simply a marvelous treat for me and them, every time.

We love this book and so does our daughter. She loves the flaps to find all of the pigs. She has loved it from the first time she saw it (6 months old). The illustrations are great and it is a good length to keep her interested,(though we usually have to read it three times before we can put it away).

My daughter simply loves this book. She loves Wibbly and all the other characters, especially Big Pig, who for some reason she always smacks. I never get tired of reading it to her and she never gets tired of having it read to her, she loves it.

I got this book for my son in preparation for his second birthday and he loves it! I't teaches children (and parents) about the importance of being organized, but it also teaches the importance of friends. I love the illustrations and most of the language. My one criticism of the book is that one part is particularly confusing for kids (when Kipper himself is confused about his birthday, so I guess that's appropriate).

Like the other Kipper books this one is easy to read and the illustrations are great. It's a bit "busier" than some of the authors earlier works and lacks the simplicity of the earliest stories. I've also found a companion sticker style activity book which is nice but the stickers are not movable from page to page.

Today, tomorrow, yesterday? We found this book a bit confusing for a 3 year old. Kipper is a favourite of ours, but this one was just "ok".

I have almost 1,000 children's books that I've collected over 20 years. I would rank this charming book in the top 20...probably top 10 for the 0-4 age group. It was a favorite of my son's for about 2 years and the wear the book shows illustrates that. I have memorized every page, and never tired of reading it. It is constructed with heavy pages that hold up much better than the average (non board) book. There are just the right amount of words on each page to hold the child's interest. The interaction of each page involves your child and will keep them on the edge of their seat/bed with anticipation and excitement with every read! It is among the very best of interactive books for young children. You won't be disappointed !! I am buying 3 more for each of my children's children, since you never know about re-printing in the future...and it's definitely a book to enjoy forever.

In this charming retelling of the "Jack and the Beanstalk" fairy tale, Wibbly the pig searches his garden for his favorite toy, Pigley. Instead, under lift-the-flap leaves, he finds a ladybug, a caterpillar, a snail, "one of these" (a weird little insect), and a bean. Wibbly puts all his things under a flowerpot, and guess what! The bean is "one of those magic ones!" It grows bigger, and--like that curious fellow, Jack--Wibbly is compelled to climb it. What happens at the top is far more pleasant than the traditional account, with nary a "fee-fi-fo-fum" or bloodthirsty giant in sight--only a gentle, perplexed giant who is looking for someone too. What results is a win-win situation for all.

Mick Inkpen's understated humor and eminently appealing watercolors have shown up in his many picture books, including Kipper's Playtime and another Wibbly favorite, Everyone Hide from Wibbly Pig. Another winner from Mick Inkpen & the Kipper series. My 2 year old really loves the little gosling and squeals with delight as he gets a bath & then blown across the room by the hair dryer. These are wonderful, loving books that appeal to both the child & and parent!
