Good book if you have a guinea pig 5 out of 5 stars.

I'm not sure if you don't have a guinea pig or your child doesn't have one at school but my son was very excited because it talks about types of guinea pigs and we enjoy it as we can compare it to ours behavior. The author clearly likes and has owned many and it gives advice about care without it just being a manual.

I Love Guinea Pigs 5 out of 5 stars.

I love this book!
It is a favorite for me.
first because I love cavia porcellus. My children learned those words from the book.
second the art work is beautiful, inspiring, and acurate to the experiences of having guinea pigs. I did my own artful representations of my guinea pigs after getting this book.
third each time i look at this book my heart warms over thinking of my dear guinea pigs. one lived 10 years, what a great gal she was.
fourth the content is accurate, and helpful.
I would suggest leaving a copy near your guinea pig home, cage, whatever you call your cavy space, for reference that is visually engaging, basic in content, and motivating, for self and especially children, in caring for your bouncy cavy companion.

Editorial Review:

"A wonderful celebration of the attributes of guinea pigs... A popular pet and familiar subject is given new vigor and interest through originality, love, and respect." —The Boston Globe

I LOVE GUINEA PIGS is an affectionate guide to the most charming of very small animals. Did you know, for instance, that guinea pigs rarely get sick and love to eat? Or that they love one another and have adorable children too? Portrayed in all thier amiable chunkiness, guinea pigs finally recieve the tribute they so richly deserve.

A Mouse Called Wolf comes from the inventive mind of Dick King-Smith who gave us Babe: The Gallant Pig.

After watching his friends race across piano keys, wee Wolfgang Amadeus Mouse throws back his head and sings. Eventually he uses his voice to rescue the lady of the house. Wolf's antics are ably illustrated by Jon Goodell.

A Mouse Called Wolf 4 out of 5 stars.

I thought this book was a good book because there is always going on. Like when Wolf was singing. I also thought some of the parts were funny. I thought it was funny becausethe only way Mrs.Honeybee could get Wolf to sing was if she gave him a piece of chocolate, and who would have thought, a singing mouse. This book is also weird because that there is a singing mouse and that is funny and very very wierd. It is als weird that Mrs. Honeybee wants to spend all of her extra time with Wolf and Mary (Wolfs mother).

Editorial Review:

The world's first singing mouse, Wolf sings his way into the heart of Mrs. Honeybee, his music-loving, human housemate, and even helps save her life.

If you're into exitement, adventure, & mystery then read The Water Horse by Dick King-Smith. In this book you will find that a girl named Kirstie finds an egg on the beach and keeps it for a pet. But, Kirstie doesn't know that the egg she has is really a ferocious monster. Kirstie finds out that every day when she checks on the monster it never stops growing. I would recommend this book to anyone that's into adventure and mystery because this book is very interesting in a weird sort of way!

Sincerely,
Luis

This is a cute book on 'Nessie' 5 out of 5 stars.

I have to say the advertisements for the movie of The Water Horse prompted me to look to the book it was based on and what a cutie of a book it is -
Set in 1930's Scotland, after a huge storm a family goes to the shore to see what has washed up - and they found something very strange -
maybe something alive? an egg? what is it?
Well the kids take it inside and place it in the tub with water - to their surprise when they go to the tub the next morning, the container is open! And there is a cute creature that 'chirrups' at them - the grandfather tells them it is a water horse - the kind of creature that is of legend in the lochs of Scotland -
They feed the little fella and call him Crusoe and soon he needs to be placed in a pond, then a larger pond and when he is almost too big, the family takes him to a large loch to spend his life -
The family loves him and he loves them and learns that all humans aren't like them -
It is a story of love for the family and love of an innocent animal that has charmed the world with its legendary existence -
I plan to see the movie, but my imagination soared as I imagined the tiny water horse in the bathtub eating sardines...
Charming!!

A Not so Dirty Pet 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The princess gets a pig for her birthday but the queen doesn't like it. The queen thinks it's dirty. This book is about figuring out ways for the queen to like the pig. I think this is a very, very funny book, because there are three pictures of poo-poo.

I am 9 years old and I found this very easy to read.

Editorial Review:

"The author of BABE, THE GALLANT PIG offers another winner with this tale of a bright pig and her canny young keeper ‘training’ a spoiled princess. . . . Move over, Wilbur."— KIRKUS REVIEWS (starred review)

Lollipop is no ordinary pig. According to her young trainer, Johnny Skinner, she’s the smartest pig in the entire kingdom. When people stare into Lollipop’s bright, intelligent eyes, it somehow changes them for the better. But can Lollipop win over the spoiled Princess Penelope - and her not-so-pig-friendly parents, the King and Queen? With humorous black-and-white illustrations by Jill Barton, Dick King-Smith’s tale about a special pig - and some memorable humans, too - will delight his legions of loyal fans!

King Titus 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

This book is awesome! It is about Titus, the Queen's Corgi, and England. It is funny. I especially like the part where Titus tells the others that the Queen is his servant.

The librarian read this to our second grade class. If you like dogs, queens, England or funny stories, I recommend it.

Editorial Review:

WHO'S MORE IMPORTANT than the Queen? Whom does she serve? Her royal corgis, of course! But life isn’t just royal thrones and unlimited biscuits for young Titus, Her Majesty’s favorite pup. There are burglars to catch, fires to put out, leaking tubs to attend to, and jealous cousins to deal with. In the end, though, it’s the Queen’s edict that matters most: “Titus Rules!”

Dick King-Smith, beloved author of Babe: The Gallant Pig, offers a delightfully entertaining book to inspire readers with love for young
Titus, and also with love for reading.

“Kids will enjoy the engaging Titus; the fast-moving, witty prose; and the adventures inspired by loyalty and royalty, whether two legged or four. Comic drawings add to the fun.”—Booklist

A Great Dog 5 out of 5 stars.
8 of 10 people found this review helpful.

This book is about a girl named Janie who finds a collar that belonged to her Great Dane, Rupert, who died when she was younger.
She carries it with her down the street. Mrs. Garrow, one of her neighbors, sees her and makes believe that she is petting a dog and gives Janie compliments on it. So Janie names her invisible harlequin Great Dane, Henry. She takes him everywhere she goes except school.
When her birthday comes her parents surprise her and take her to a dog show. She hopes the Harlequin Great Dane will win.
Read the book to find out who wins the show, what Mrs. Garrow finds in the teacup and how Janie's dream of owning a Great Dane comes true.
If you enjoy books that you can't put down, you'll love this one. I really love books about dogs so that is why I would recommend it to others who love dog stories.

Editorial Review:

Illustrated in black-and-white. When her parents can't afford a new pet,

seven-year-old Janie invents one. Her new pretend dog is Henry, an invisible

Great Dane who eats invisible food bought with invisible money. Then some

mysterious events--and perhaps a touch of magic--bring the invisible Henry to

life. "King-Smith has created another irresistible yarn."--Booklist.

What I Think About Martins Mice 4 out of 5 stars.

MARTINS MICE IS A WONDERFUL STORY . IF YOU READ IT YOU WILL NOW FAST LIKE A SPEEDING BULLET . IT HAS FUNNY PICTURES AND THREMENDOUS PARTS . ITS VERY FUNNY IN MANY DIFFERENT WAYS. BY - J R

Summary on Martins Mice 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This story is mainly about a cat named martin. He wasent like other cats the reason being that he didnt like to eat mice. He really adored mice he thought they would make good pets. He would keep them in a bathtub in the loft.Martins mom (Dulcie Maude) wants martin to eat mice but martin just cant. One day Dulcie Maude was about to eat the mice but martin protected them. Dulcie Maude was really upset that his own sun would do that so she left home crying. Martin told the mice to try to stay away from the house were he liked because then they would be eaten. The mice agreed to whatever martin said. The mice could smell somthing really good but it was coming from the house they really didnt want to go but they were really hungry. They decided to go and when they were about to reach the house Martin saw that his sister(Lark)and his brother (Robin) were hiding under the bushes. Martin ran to protect the mice and he also made his brothers get along with the mice. When he told his brothers that the mice were his friends they decided to be friends with them to. The mice could now be anywere they wanted without any fear.

Editorial Review:

"Martin, a kitten, is branded a `wimp' by his siblings for his friendly

interest in mice. He loves caring for them and can't understand their desire

for freedom. Only when he becomes the pet of a big city apartment dweller does

he realize why his pets deserted him. An engaging animal fantasy with plenty

of humorous insight into the human condition, King-Smith's story has humor and

a fast pace which will appeal to younger readers."--School Library

Editorial Review:

Babe is a sensitive soul, deeply loyal to those who are kind to him. So when he is taken in by Farmer Hogget's sheepdog, Fly, it's only natural that he would want to follow in his foster mum's paw-steps. Even with Babe's considerable handicaps as a sheepdog--namely, that he's a pig--he manages to overcome all with his earnestly polite and soft-spoken ways, proving once again that might doesn't always make right. After saving the sheep from rustlers and wild dogs, Babe convinces Hogget that his idea of becoming a sheep-pig "b'aint so stupid" as it might look. But neither Hogget nor Babe, nor anyone else, could have predicted what follows.

As utterly charming as Charlotte's Web, this book is bound to pluck even the tightest heartstrings. Masterful characterization brings every personality to vibrant life, while Mary Rayner's lively line illustrations only elucidate images Dick King-Smith has already planted in the reader's mind. Herd the whole farmyard together: readers of all ages, ambitions, and antecedents will love this one. --Emilie Coulter

My thoughts 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I just finished a great book called Pigs Might Fly. When I saw that Dick King Smith wrote the book I had no intention on reading this book, but I did.
This book was a lot better that I thought. By the look on the cover, it looks like a baby story but once you read it you will relies it is a book for all ages. " There is nothing worse than being the smallest, the shortest or the last." It is not fun.
I think being who you are is the theme in the story. I think even though it doesn't look good it is a lot better than you think.

Ms.O's Student Review 3 out of 5 stars.

Pigs Might Fly is a insprirational book too people of all ages. It can inspire you to do things that seems impossible. From the old saying,''Pigs might fly'',author Dick King-Smith wrote a tale about a small piglet named Daggie Dogfoot who overheard a convosation about pigs being able to fly ,trained hard to do just that. This book brings every animal of the farm and beyond to come together and help each other out just like we need to do for each other as humans in order to accomplish goals.
If you love the story of Charlotte's Web,heres another good book about a young pig. Although im not a big fan of animal tales i do recommend this to people who are fond of these tales. This book has more action and takes you to a view of a animal's prospective than a human. The author shows humor between the farmer and the animal's interaction with each other which will have you laughing throughout the book.
