To celebrate Peter's birthday, Frederick Warne is publishing new editions of all 23 of Potter's original tales, which take the very first printings of Potter's works as their guide. The aim of these editions is to be as close as possible to Beatrix Potter's intentions while benefiting from modern printing and design techniques.

The colors and details of the watercolors in the volumes are reproduced more accurately than ever before, and it has now been possible to disguise damage that has affected the artwork over the years. Most notably, The Tale of Peter Rabbit restores six of Potter's original illustrations. Four were sacrificed in 1903 to make space for illustrated endpapers, and two have never been used before. Of course, Beatrix Potter created many memorable children's characters, including Benjamin Bunny, Tom Kitten, Jemima Puddle-duck and Jeremy Fisher. But whatever the tale, both children and adults alike can be delighted by the artistry in Potter's illustrations, while they also enjoy a very good read. Because they have always been completely true to a child's experience, Potter's 23 books continue to endure.

I bought this book for my best friend who is expecting her first child. I wanted something Beatrix Potter because I grew up to these wonderful stories and I wanted it to be part of her childs life and memories. I am so glad I chose to get this particular book! The illustrations are beautiful and filled with color. It is a wonderful book filled with all of the popular Beatrix Potter stories that I remember! I recommend this book to anyone who loves Beatrix Potter stories....this is the one!

This is a nice version of this classic. I had not read this story before and enjoyed sharing the tale of this naughty rabbit with my three year old daughter. I have found books such as this which have widthstood the test of time some of the best reading for children and adults alike.

This is a Great story, and I paired it with a DVD to introduce the Joy of reading to a Child. It worked well, and she now has "Her Library" and is VERY proud of her collection, and asks for more books.

Even though our grandkids already have a copy of the original Peter Rabbit, this book is for adults and children to enjoy together. It has pop-ups, pull-outs, and fold-outs, and an absolutely splendid "net" trap with poor Peter Rabbit in it. The book requires either an older child or an adult on hand because, as with most pop-ups, a younger child can rip the tabs and illustrations.

Must-have book for Beatrix Potter fans 5 out of 5 stars.

I have an extensive collection of Beatrix Potter books, and this one is excellent. Each page has pop-ups, moveable tabs, and fold-outs. Peter is even caught in the gooseberry net, which is fashioned with a heavy thread net with a paper Peter caught up by his paws. My two girls thought the book was great but they know that it is mine! I wouldn't recommend this for children under 3 unless they are very gentle with their books. Excellent book for collectors!

I've always loved Beatrix Potter's book series, and this commemorative edition is especially loveable that it's an imitation of the original books Ms. Potter had her publisher published to fit little children's little hands. My 6 yr old son loves it and began to read it as soon as he received it. I only wish that Amazon has more of these commemorative editions for her other books. I love Amazon's fast & free shipping, and best deals!

I've loved this book since childhood and when i saw that there was a special edition of it, i wanted it right way.

My book cover is silver but is not the book cover pictured above. Hence, the lower star rating.
