Sweet Little Package 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Bought this to go with a hand knit baby coat that had Beatrice Potter characters on the buttons. The book and little stuffed rabbit were a very nice addition to the gift, Mom-to-be loved it. This would be a lovely stocking stuffer for a new baby or a nice shower gift. Book and Peter Rabbit are sized for a little one's hands.

Very cute little book 5 out of 5 stars.

Editorial Review:

To celebrate Peter's birthday, Frederick Warne is publishing new editions of all 23 of Potter's original tales, which take the very first printings of Potter's works as their guide. The aim of these editions is to be as close as possible to Beatrix Potter's intentions while benefiting from modern printing and design techniques.

The colors and details of the watercolors in the volumes are reproduced more accurately than ever before, and it has now been possible to disguise damage that has affected the artwork over the years. Most notably, The Tale of Peter Rabbit restores six of Potter's original illustrations. Four were sacrificed in 1903 to make space for illustrated endpapers, and two have never been used before. Of course, Beatrix Potter created many memorable children's characters, including Benjamin Bunny, Tom Kitten, Jemima Puddle-duck and Jeremy Fisher. But whatever the tale, both children and adults alike can be delighted by the artistry in Potter's illustrations, while they also enjoy a very good read. Because they have always been completely true to a child's experience, Potter's 23 books continue to endure.

Child's first lesson in business? 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Ginger and Pickles, a cat and dog who run a dry goods store are failing in business by giving unlimited credit. Their sales are enormous but there is never any money in the till. They restrain their natural desire to eat their rodent customers and sustain themselves by consuming inventory. Finally, they are forced to close the store when they cannot pay the annual tax bill. The store is later reopened by an enterprising chicken who gets a little flustered counting change, but nevertheless brings the story to a happy ending.

Beautiful illustrations 3 out of 5 stars.

The story is about a Ginger and Pickles (hence the title), a cat and a dog who run a dry good store. They have great services and great sales but too great that they actually let their customers goes on credit till their business just went bankcrupt because nobody actually pays for their goods when they buys them. Eventually, their store reopens, bringing greater profits.

This book has wonderful illustrations for the kids to enjoy. But I must admit, I don't really quite enjoy this book, and just reading it through to check it out. But of course, I can't speak for others.

Editorial Review:

Ginger, a yellow tom-cat, and Pickles, a terrier, run a very popular general store but soon run into trouble because they give everyone unlimited credit.

Just too nice to color in them... 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I bought 10 copies of this coloring book (& crayons) to give out to toddlers at a Peter Rabbit-themed party instead of the usual tooth-rotting candy and common choking hazard-sized toys. Using the original illustrations, this book was overall better quality than most current Peter Rabbit Books and it was almost hard to let the kids color them. I always thought Dover coloring books were pricey but after visiting the local chain drugstore, realized that it was comparable to most average (newsprint quality paper) coloring books. Always worth it! PS - I have found that many parents color in coloring books (secretly) and have found it fun doing so with my toddler. She is currently coloring the Peter Rabbit book and I am coloring the Van Gogh book. Very Theraputic - and I can finally color in the lines!

Editorial Review:

Twenty-seven large illustrations rendered by Nancy Perkins from the book. The text of the full story is included.

The Tale of Mrs. Tittlemouse 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Children who love animals of all kinds, and especially insects, will love the Tale of Mrs. Tittlemouse. Mrs. Thomasina Tittlemouse is rather obsessed with cleanliness. She is constantly sweeping and dusting. Unfortunately for her there are a variety of unwelcome guests that invade her tidy home: a beetle, a ladybug, a spider, a butterfly, a group of bumblebees who have made a nest in her storeroom without permission, and a most unpleasant toad named Mr. Jackson who never wipes his feet and creates a terrible mess. However there is a happy ending to this story. The watercolors are beautiful---I particularly like the one of Miss Butterfly tasting the sugar. If your young ones have a dislike for creepy crawly creatures, then this story might not be for them, but I have always found Beatrix Potter's tales delightful and unique, and The Tale of Mrs. Tittlemouse none the less so.

Editorial Review:

Thomasina Tittlemouse is a very tidy housekeeper, even with yards and yards of passageways to sweep and dust each day. And with a succession of beetles, bees, spiders, and a friendly toad adding to the clutter, her work is not easy. A delightful tale, illustrated with 27 of Miss Potter's timeless watercolors.

Priceless and timeless tales 5 out of 5 stars.
16 of 16 people found this review helpful.

I had several of the small Beatrix Potter books as a child. The drawings and stories enchanted me, and the books were just the right size for my hands. This book is much bigger. It also includes more stories than my original collection--nineteen. It is easy to find the Peter Rabbit stories and some of the others in the small books--but some of the stories in this book (such as the wonderful "The Story Of A Fierce Bad Rabbit") I've never seen for sale in individual form. So, if you loved these stories as a child or if you want to introduce them to a child in your life, this large and beautiful book is a good choice. However, when I have children of my own I'll probably also buy a set of the small books, because I enjoyed them so much in that form myself.

Editorial Review:

This delightful volume combines three popular Beatrix Potter collections: Giant Treasury of Peter Rabbit, Giant Treasury of Beatrix Potter and Further Adventures of Peter Rabbit and His Friends. Nineteen tales in all with Potter's original illustrations. 520 full-color and 155 b&w illustrations. 256 pages.

I bought this book for my two little nieces to go with the plush rabbit. What a darling book! Many collections of other books by Beatrix Potter. The rhymes and riddles were very clever, and reading the poems brough back many good memories of my grandmother reading to me! Great little book!

Editorial Review:

A Real Delight 5 out of 5 stars.
20 of 20 people found this review helpful.

This is an outstanding book and a must-have for those who love Beatrix Potter's work. While most people think of Potter as the author of those delightful children's books, this book shows the full range of her work. Anne Stevenson Hobbs did an outstanding job in presenting the art in a very enjoyable manner - a real plus for those lucky enough to own this book.

Editorial Review:

More than 200 of Potter's finest paintings and drawings are featured in full color in this magnificent book which demonstrates this beloved illustrator's wide range of artistic skills.
