This is a collection of correspondence from BP to others. 4 out of 5 stars.

I have never read a book like this before. The letters cover most of her life from about age 5 on to her death in 1943. I felt as though I had happened on a box of correspondence that I found difficult to put down. Sort of like reading some one else's diary. Much was mundane and business like but there were occasional glimpses into her spirit. She loved the lakes area and through her determination, much of it is preserved today for the pure pleasure of the British population. I knew her for Peter Rabbit. I admire her for her later determination to preserve the land for the people.

Editorial Review:

Taylor has assembled a representative selection of letters that document every stage of Potter's life. 8-page full-color insert.

I love these little books. They are beautiful colors and wonderful prints not to mention timeless stories. I am fascinated by the life of Beatrix Potter and these little books only complete my collection.

My favourite bedtime reading book 5 out of 5 stars.

My dad reads me nursery rhymes all the time. This is one of my favourites. We have it on Mondays, Wednesdays and at the weekends. I love "I had a little nut tree" and also "Three blind mice" but there are some nice not so well known rhymes in there as well. Beatrix Potter is so good at this stuff! Valerie.

Editorial Review:

This popular nursery rhyme collection-a bestseller for Frederick Warne & Co.-is now available with a CD featuring original songs for all 54 nursery rhymes in the collection. The book features Beatrix Potter's original artwork in a handsomely designed compilation of every nursery rhyme, poem and riddle from her classic books. The CD, produced by the prestigious Silver Lining Productions, provides nearly 11/2 hours of music and is a perfect complement to the poetry. Young listeners who loved to chime in on the nursery rhymes can now sing along, too!

The Tale of Johnny Town-Mouse 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This is a wonderful book for early readers about Two mice and their adventures into the unknown. Timmy, the country mouse goes into the town by accident and gets a big surprise at the very different lifestyles etc. This book really relates to real life situations and how people get really surprised and scared in a new place. I would reccommend this story to children who are in the process of moving or have a new friend in town. It will help them realize how everywhere is different.

Editorial Review:

To celebrate Peter's birthday, Frederick Warne is publishing new editions of all 23 of Potter's original tales, which take the very first printings of Potter's works as their guide. The aim of these editions is to be as close as possible to Beatrix Potter's intentions while benefiting from modern printing and design techniques.

The colors and details of the watercolors in the volumes are reproduced more accurately than ever before, and it has now been possible to disguise damage that has affected the artwork over the years. Most notably, The Tale of Peter Rabbit restores six of Potter's original illustrations. Four were sacrificed in 1903 to make space for illustrated endpapers, and two have never been used before. Of course, Beatrix Potter created many memorable children's characters, including Benjamin Bunny, Tom Kitten, Jemima Puddle-duck and Jeremy Fisher. But whatever the tale, both children and adults alike can be delighted by the artistry in Potter's illustrations, while they also enjoy a very good read. Because they have always been completely true to a child's experience, Potter's 23 books continue to endure.

a fantastic collection of rabbit tales 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

I bought this book for my nephew's birthday. To say the least he loved the stories and has prompted his imaginative and creative abilities....he wants more of these books. The illustrations he thinks are cute and laughable! . Beatrix Potter has always been one of my favorite authors as a child and from my nephew's reaction it seems as though it will be a favorite of children of all ages. This books is great for kids and is quite easy to read and understand. It is also quite affordable to buy the lot. I am about to order another of these books. Thanks

The Tale of Mr. Tod 4 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

Beatrix Potter's tales have often revolved around endearing characters such as Tom Kitten, Jeremy Fisher, or Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle. Sometimes the main characters have been of the mischievous type like Squirrel Nutkin, Hunca Munca or Samuel Whiskers. Well, in "The Tale of Mr. Tod", the main characters, Mr. Tod and Tommy Brock, are two thoroughly disagreeable and unpleasant creatures. Mr. Tod has foxy whiskers and is of a wandering habit. The other animals either cannot bear him or are frightened of him. He has several different houses but is rarely found home. However, his houses are not always empty, for Tommy Brock is prone to moving in without Mr. Tod's permission. Tommy Brock is a fat, waddling badger with a horrible grinning face and a habit of digging things up. One day he pays a call to old Mr. Bouncer, Benjamin Bunny's father. Today he is in charge of looking after the young, while Benjamin and his wife Flopsy are out. Unfortunately after conversing with the badger and smoking a very strong cabbage leaf cigar, the old rabbit falls asleep and Tommy Brock makes off with the rabbit babies. When Benjamin and Flopsy return they find their young gone and Benjamin at once goes out to track down Tommy Brock. Along the way he enlists the help of his brother-in-law, Peter Rabbit. Of course, they are not the only ones after the terrible badger. It seems that yet again he has set up house in one of Mr. Tod's residences and the fox, who is not in the best of moods this day, discovers the badger asleep in his bed... There are not many color pictures in this book, but there are many black and white illustrations in the style of woodcuts. Of course the story is extremely interesting and suspensful. "The Tale of Mr. Tod" is a longer story than some of the author's other tales. Also, there is more narration than dialogue and the language is early twentieth century, so this story may be more suitable for older children. Parents and children should not pass up this lesser known tale by a very talented storyteller and illustrator.

Editorial Review:

Six little bunnies go missing, and Tommy Brock the badger is seen carrying a heavy bundle as he heads towards the house of Mr Tod. On the trail of Benjamin Bunny's kidnapped offspring, Peter Rabbit and Benjamin find themselves involved in a terrible battle between Mr Tod and an unwelcome guest.

Classic story and illustrations, awkwardly organized. 3 out of 5 stars.
9 of 9 people found this review helpful.

There are three stories in this book, the first of which is the Tale of Peter Rabbit. I think that this edition could be better organized, given its intended audience: First of all, you need to be able to read the table of contents to know where one story ends and the next begins. Also, the binding is very tight, making it difficult for the "baby-preschool" age group for which it is intended to flip through at the book independently. In my copy, at least, about half the story of Peter Rabbit is included a second time, presumably in error, after the third story. A small child might do better with a smaller, hardbound version.

Editorial Review:

Beatrix Potter's four stories that feature Peter Rabbit are brought together in one volume, so that Peter's escapades can be read as a continuous saga. The volume includes the complete text and art from The Tale of Peter Rabbit, The Tale of Benjamin Bunny, The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies and The Tale of Mr. Tod. From Peter's mischevious childhood in Mr. McGregor's garden to the time he rescues a family from Tommy Brock's clutches, Peter Rabbit's story is one children will want to hear again and again.

Happy Ending 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Out of the complete Beatrix Potter collection, my 4-year-old daughter enjoys hearing this story the most. This story keeps her attention through the entire story. She looks forward to the end when Timmy Tiptoes is reunited with his wife. Some of Potter's stories can be a little harsh, this one is border-line, where the child may worry about Timmy Tiptoes, but he ends up getting back to his wife and life as usual.

Timmy Tiptoes 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This tale is a very funny tale about a very funny squirrel named Timmy Tiptoes. Him and his wife Goody are getting ready for fall and hibernation. They go out to collect some nuts to store for winter and spring, and you can only imagine what could happen to then. This is yet another great story from Beatrix Potter, but not one of her best ones, I think.
The other squirrels in the forest think that Timmy has stolen all his nuts from their storehouses and they go to chase him. He then gets trapped in a tree with a chipmunk, known simply as Chipmunk. They decide to stay there while both of their wives get very angry with them. Read to find out what happens to the both of them, in this great book, perfect for nature and animal lovers.
