Awesome book 5 out of 5 stars.
8 of 8 people found this review helpful.

This was a fantastic little sticker book, my three year old daughter loved being able to move Max and Ruby around and make her own story. I really like this book brings hours of entertainment.

Sticker Book 5 out of 5 stars.

My 3 yr old son loves this book! you can take the stickers off and put them on another page! He spends about 1 hr each day just having me read the story and put the correct stickers in a different place each time.

Only some stickers stick.. 2 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Only some some of the stickers stick. They are hard to get off the sheets and there are only 4 pages to stick them on. The pages display the scene, yet the scene is done so badly that the suggested stickers for the page fit no where. These stickers are supposed to peel and stick over and over, well they done. They shred, tear, crinkle, bubble - all on the first try. They are very fragile and tricky. Even I couldn't do it!

Editorial Review:

It's a busy week for Max and Ruby: there's shopping to do, tea parties to throw, and cakes to bake for Grandma's birthday. From Monday to Sunday and every day in between, the fun never stops when you're hanging out with these two funny bunny siblings.

Barely a story 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The book is cute and it has a couple of interactive touch spots for kids to learn from, but the book is clearly made for a 6 month-1 year old. My daughter loves the Max & Ruby series and I have been looking to get her some merchandise. Unfortunately, none of the books I have ordered (that are listed on Amazon at least) compare to the show. Very little story and just a lot of thick paper.

Fun book 5 out of 5 stars.

My autistic son loves this book. The different touch and feel textures provide him with sensory input that he enjoys.

Editorial Review:

"Goodnight, Max," says Max's sister Ruby. But Max can't get comfortable. First he spills a glass of water. Then there are all those itchy cookie crumbs in his bed...and the moon shining through his window. Will poor Max ever fall asleep? Rosemary Wells' beloved Max and Ruby are back in an irresistibly touchable book that is also a satisfying bedtime story. Toddlers won't be able to resist all the tactile elements--fourteen tempting things to touch, move, even smell--while a gently humorous story makes this the perfect book for bedtime, naptime, or anytime!

Good Story 3 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Having a dual form of dyslexia I did not learn to read until later in life. Thus I never read children's books while a child. Maybe that is why I read so many still today. I read this as part of a children's literature course in university.

It is an interesting book, about friendship, commitment, compassion, change and death. As such it deals with a lot of the big questions of life in ways a child can grasp.

For me the most moving part was when Wilber confessed to Charlotte that he did not like the thought of her as a blood sucker, towards the end of her life. Only true friends can be that open and honest.

The book is a powerful tale of true friendship and how our close friends can transform not only us but those around us.

Editorial Review:

An affectionate, sometimes bashful pig named Wilbur befriends a spider named Charlotte, who lives in the rafters above his pen. A prancing, playful bloke, Wilbur is devastated when he learns of the destiny that befalls all those of porcine persuasion. Determined to save her friend, Charlotte spins a web that reads "Some Pig," convincing the farmer and surrounding community that Wilbur is no ordinary animal and should be saved. In this story of friendship, hardship, and the passing on into time, E.B. White reminds us to open our eyes to the wonder and miracle often found in the simplest of things.

Editorial Review:

There should be a law that requires every child to sit on Grandpa's knee as he chants "Trot, trot, to Boston; trot, trot, to Lynn." Grownups who still giggle at the thought of Little Jack Horner pulling a plum out of his Christmas pie, or who make a wish on a star, murmuring "Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight" know the secret. They're the ones who will be handing down those same nursery rhymes to their own children, preserving an age-old tradition. But no child should be left behind.

In world folklore authority Iona Opie's collection, these invaluable and ancient nuggets of childhood verse are bursting with new life. Quirky and sly, sweet, gentle, rollicking, silly... the range of rhymes is breathtaking. Winner of over a dozen prestigious awards, including a Parents' Choice Award and an ALA Notable Children's Book award, this wonderful book is charmingly illustrated by Rosemary Wells, best known for her Max books (Max's Bath, Max's Bedtime, Max's Ride). A solid repertoire of nursery rhymes should be de rigueur for any aunt, uncle, grandparent, or parent worth his or her salt. This book is a must, as is its companion volume, Here Comes Mother Goose. perfect 1st learn to read book 5 out of 5 stars.
14 of 14 people found this review helpful.

This is really a great book for pre-schoolers learning to read. This has pictures that really tell the story. I read this to my 4 year old once and she was reading it back to me. It has flash cards in the back that are fun too! Max abd Ruby are two fun bunnies that make learning fun! Pick this one up and you'll be glad you did.
A proud mom.

Love everything Max and Ruby, but... 3 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

This book didn't actually come with flash cards, instead there were a few pages of the book that you can cut out and use like flash cards, but they're just made of paper so they're not very effective.

My Two Year Old LOVES this book 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

My son LOVES Max and Ruby and watches it all the time on Nick Jr. This book is small and thin so it is not too overwhelming with too much information. It is set up so that he can see cause and effect as well as learn more words and to count up to 5. I love this book and the paper flash cards were great.

Editorial Review:

Ruby wants to teach Max all the things a wise big sister knows, such as the alphabet, numbers, and colors. But first she has to teach him to pay attention!

Red Hot Marshmallow Squirters? 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I love Max and Ruby, way before they were on TV. "Bunny Cakes" is one of my favorites. Rosemary Wells uses such simplistic words and phrases yet they are eloquently written.
Ruby's making Grandma a birthday cake and Max decides to make one, too...from dirt and worms. But his cake is missing something: Red Hot Marshmallow Squirters.
See how Max finally gets them and then wonder: Which cake will Grandma eat first?

favorite book 5 out of 5 stars.

This is my daughters favorite book. I think she likes it becuase it do the voices for Ruby and she can guess what Ruby wrote on the list.

Max and Ruby: A Staple of Children's Reading 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I have to believe that Max and Ruby books are staples of every American child's literary diet. For the early years of the lives of all three of my children, Max and Ruby books were (and still are) daily reading choices. The illustrations are appealing, and the characters are hilarious. I genuinely admire Rosemary Wells' mastery of story telling: in just a few pages she hones in on the sweet, funny conflicts between Max and Ruby, showing their true natures every step of the way to what is always a satisfying resolution. You should make sure all the mothers you know with little children own Max and Ruby books. I have: these are among my favorites for gift giving. Top titles in my house are: Bunny Cakes, Bunny Money, Max's Dragon Shirt, Max Cleans Up, Max's Chocolate Chicken, and Bunny Party.

Editorial Review:

In his most hilarious escapade yet, Max learns a invaluable lesson--in his irresistible way! For Grandma's birthday, Max wants to make her an earthworm birthday cake. His sister Ruby is going to make an angel surprise cake with raspberry-fluff icing. When Grandma ends up with two cakes, guess which one she'll eat first? Full color.

Editorial Review:

Max is an irresistibly cute but persistent little bunny who wants what he wants when he wants it--any parent with an active toddler will relate. And like most little kids, Max thinks the grass is always greener on the other side; to be more precise, he's sure the toy someone else is playing with is much more interesting. Max's interaction du jour is with his older sister, Ruby, who has a particularly attractive doll. Of course, Max wants that doll and will go to any lengths to get it. Who do you think will win this one? A funny tale of how children give and take in play, Max's Toys doubles as a first counting book: the doll is the one thing Ruby won't part with, and all Max has to barter is a house with two chimneys, three soldiers, four bears, and so on. Measuring 7 inches square, this colorful, sturdy board book is easy for small children to handle. Rosemary Wells's delightful Max books are virtually guaranteed to please the little Max in your life. My 3 year old daughter loves Max & Ruby. This is a great concept book, but is weak in plot. It's very short. Great for kids 1-2 years old.

Not By Rosemary Wells 1 out of 5 stars.
0 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This book is not by Rosemary Wells. It's created "in her style" based on the television cartoon series, which I don't think is made very clear on the website. It's not really of the same quality as a real Rosemary Wells book.

Editorial Review:

Max can’t wait to go sledding! But before he and Ruby can play in the snow, they’ll have to put on their winter clothes. Max and Ruby fans will practice recognizing colors and articles of clothing in this concept storybook.

A Colorful Splash of Laughter! 3 out of 5 stars.
4 of 5 people found this review helpful.

My daughters - a preschooler and a toddler - gravitate to Max and Ruby like magnets. The board book Ruby's Rainy Day proved no exception. Shiny foil raindrops splash across the book cover. Lively rainbow colors brighten the ten sturdy pages inside. The story itself is an abridged version of a comical episode on TV's Nickelodeon. Little brother Max wants to go outside to play "Baseball!" Big sister Ruby insists they both don layer after layer of rain gear first. Your child can learn colors while laughing at the antics of these lovable rabbits.

Good for toddlers 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Another adorable story. Probably would not be very interesting to older children (over age 3) since it is a short, simple story about basic colors.

Editorial Review:

It’s raining outside, but all Max wants to do is play baseball. So his big sister Ruby struggles to get him into his rain gear: red boots, yellow slicker, and orange rain hat. But see what happens when Max is finally all dressed! Kids will love this fun board book that teaches colors and features shiny foil raindrops on the cover.

Rosemary Wells ROCKS 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

My daughter is ALL cbout Max. Max, Max, MAX...and yes, I've read this book to her SO many times I know it by heart.

The Nick Jr. show is OK (why did they change Ruby's voice? ARGH!) but the books are TERRIFIC! Rosemary Wells is a phenomenal children's writer and as an adult I enjoy all of her writing...that's impressive!

These books will be classics.

Cute! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

My son really enjoys this story. He thinks it's funny that Max sticks everything in his pocket while Ruby is trying to clean his room. Kind of mirrors the nonsense that goes on when trying to get my son to clean his room. ;-)

Editorial Review:

Max's room is a mess! There's a Popsicle melting in the closet, a tube of opened Miracle Bubbles on the floor, and the ant farm ants have escaped under the bed! It's definitely time to clean up. Max's sister, Ruby, is quick to take charge, and of course Max wants to help. But Max has his own ideas about picking up his room, so things don't turn out exactly as Ruby planned. Children will cheer as Max innocently and humorously outsmarts his older sister once again.

"Sure to draw plenty of giggles from the burgeoning Max and Ruby fan club." (Kirkus Reviews)
