I bought this book and find it absolutely useless. If you expect to learn something about a country this is not the book for you. It is a big waste of money. A huge heavy book that will gather dust on your coffee table. Very little information about the countries. I found it absolutely uselss and rather typical of the out-of-date information that Lonely Planet turns out today. If you are a traveler and want to learn something about the countries of the world, find another book. Very sorry that I bought it.

High-fives and congrats to the smart people at Lonely Planet Publications. This beautifully photographed book is a treasure that you must see for yourself. The somewhat plain cover hides the wonder you'll find inside. Every country is included with multiple photographs and brief, but relevant (and sometimes humorous) information. This is not a detailed book to use when planning a trip. It is a starting place for travelers and armchair dreamers. There is beauty in every country in the world and the proof is within these pages. Buy multiple copies. You'll want one to keep and several to give away as gifts to anyone interested in travel or photography.

Tiny font, too thin paper, biased towards low budget travelers 1 out of 5 stars.

This is the worst guidebook I've had the misfortune to buy; if I had the time, I would have returned it. Unless you have perfect vision the entire book is printed in a tiny font on very thin paper, making it hard on the eyes. The reviews are incredibly biased, totally slanted towards travelers who want to eat street food, stay in backpacker or budget accommodations... It does not take disabilities, age or food allergies into consideration & assumes, in a rather mean-spirited manner, that if you don't want to stay in a low budget place or eat, very spicy street food, that something is wrong with you. Being a disabled traveler who is unable to stay in low budget accommodations because they aren't accessible, I was stunned by the lack of information on moderately priced hotels (let alone pricey ones). If you want to try the haute cuisine of Bangkok, stay in moderate or upscale hotels, instead of backpacking, buy Fodor's guide, as there's no information here, just judgments on your inability to 'slum it'. TERRIBLE.

my wife and i spent 4 days in cusco and could not find a single restaurant that lonely planet recommended. my wife is fluent in spanish and we spoke with locals and touristico police and NOBODY had even heard of the restaurants. very frustrating.

and cusco sucks, don't waste time there. arequipa is a million times better.

This book is a wealth of information all contained in one volume. The travel tips, itineraries and even restaurant information are well researched. My only complaint is I'd like to see more detailed maps of some of the more off the beaten path areas - such as Kirra Beach, were I am going. Other than that, this book is a great product and I'd highly recommend it for anyone going to Australia for their first time.

A lot of fun and, unfortunately, you don't have to go very far when traveling in the Middle East or Africa to see some entertaining signs (and I'm not just talking "camel xing" either). I'm glad someone thought to put this collection together!

Lonely Planet Signspotting is a sure laugh-getter to share with friends. Bring it to work with you and it will be the sensation of the break room for a couple of days as everyone passes it around.

There are lots of hysterical photos of signs -- the sort of things you sometimes notice in passing and wish you had a camera to capture as evidence, yourself. Guaranteed, you'll enjoy this book.

I am overweight and uni-languagal (not even a word), just like the rest of us americans. Therefore, I find books like "Signspotting 2" hilarious. I mean, "Be Aware of Invisibility"? That's great stuff. Not only is it incorrect English, but it gives you the idea that, "Hey, maybe in some country somewhere I can become invisible." My 14-year-old daughter and I read this book and the first Signspotting book together and laughed until our heads hurt. It was great bonding stuff for an overworked mom and her "I'm always right" teenage daughter. I recommend it highly.

I used Lonely Planet's "Southeast Asia on a Shoestring" guide exclusively on my last trip to SE Asia. I visited Singapore and parts of Indonesia and Malaysia. Just like every other Lonely Planet Shoestring Guide, it was pretty amazing. However, this guide was much more concise than other shoestring guides I've used, probably because of how many places are being crammed into one book. Yes, it does a great job of covering a wide range of places in Southeast Asia. It just sacrifices detailed info and maps of many of those places to do so. This book generally sticks to times, costs, and locations, plus a very brief description of many of the places it covers. If you think you'll want more than that, you might consider the individual country guides instead. All that being said, the book does a great job of living up to it's motto: "Big Trips on Small Budgets." The info it provides was all very accurate and very useful. Recommended.

LP getting too big for their britches? 3 out of 5 stars.

Lonely Planet has been the standard for in-depth guidebooks for a while now, with more and more titles being added and updates more frequently. But has success gone to their head? I'm finding LP's most recent books have developed an "attitude". I.E., their travel writing is becoming more and more smarmy and "hipsterish". I dunno, maybe I'm just getting old? :( This LP USA guide is the worst yet I've read so far in regard. They're trying so hard to be "cool" or something, like it was an LP book written by guys watching MTV or something. If this continues, I don't know if I'll continue to buy their updates of favorite titles. The depth of info here is still pretty top notch and their organizing of their books is still great. But for heck's sake, guys, just REPORT, OK? Stop trying to act like Stephen Colbert or Jon Stewart writing travel essays!
