Too Extreme for me 5 out of 5 stars.

Halfway through John's Gospel and already I knew I wasn't extreme enough for this book. JC filled me with an urge to snowboard down the Rockies while screaming "screw you Satan" during my run. I almost ran out and got WWJD tatooed on my forehead. Man, that woulda been extreme. So instead I settled for some Extreme Mountain Dew and Yogurt bars while I played Tony Hawk pulling off my signature move (you guessed it), Christ Air.

But I'm not giving up on JC, oh hell no. I may not be Extreme enough for the Extreme Bible, but wait until the "Holy Bible: IM Version (LOL)" comes out. I'm all over that. Christ and I will be ROFLing at all you sinners as we chat it up. OMG I can't wait! Ok, gtg ttyl lol!!!111

Extreme Teen Bible: revised 5 out of 5 stars.

The following review [[in brackets]] was written for the ORIGINAL edition, not for the revised version. It is more accurate for the ORIGINAL version. [[ I am not usually impressed by Bibles that are geared to some gimmick or other, and I thought the same about this one before I looked inside. Fortunately, I DID look inside. While shopping for a confirmation present for a teenager in my parish, this became a consideration. Not only is it attractively formatted, very well-bound, and a relatively good translation (not the best, yet acceptable in this kind of Bible), it is also studded with bits of information, graphics, biographies, etc, I would have LOVED to have had in a Bible at this age! VERY impressive, and almost guaranteed to have an adolescent spending quality time with it right into adulthood! Definitely a Bible they can come to love, and take with them wherever they go in life!]] The new revised version has toned down some of the graphics features, and though it is in a smaller more personal size, which some will like, it is also less visually striking in some ways. I suspect teens will prefer the original edition.

A very simple, easy introduction 5 out of 5 stars.

If it's an easy overview of key issues, topics and social and political concerns you need to serve as an introduction to Muslim concerns, you can't go wrong with BEING MUSLIM, based on travels in Muslim lands and interviews with experts there and in the West. Here's an analysis of the impact of terrorism on Muslims, explaining how Islam affects daily living and surveying differences between East and West perspectives. A very simple, easy introduction, this lends equally well to middle to high school libraries strong in social and political history.

I love this version!
It's one of the better ones as far as the translation goes...

I also love this one for it's cover... I have 3 kids, and when I go to church I am holding hands and can't hang onto a bible as well...

This one is perfect! I keep it in my purse, and it gets banged around all the time, but never get messed up!

The cover has yet to open on me when I didn't want it to! LOVE IT!

This was very nice. I got it engraved with my son's name at a local jeweler's, and he loved it! I would highly recommend.

This is certainly not your typical book on prayer. It is full of powerful truths that have been hidden from the Body of Christ for centuries. One thing that has held Christians back is the fact that they never really learned how to pray. This book will change your prayer life forever! I recommend it to every believer!

The REAL Truth about Footprints 1 out of 5 stars.

Margret Fishback Powers did not write "Footprints in the Sand". It was written by Floyd Keaton of Red Oak, Iowa during WWII. There are many people who have seen his ORIGINAL dated manuscript writtin in pencil on notebook paper PRIOR to 1964. Please contact the Montgomery County Historical Society in Red Oak for more information.

Margaret Fishback Powers is an extraordinary woman who has been through and accomplished extraordinary things. What's more is I know the woman behind the book and the poem. She is heartfelt and genuine. She and her husband, also an author, tour the world in the name of Christ and are not boastful in any way. I'm sad to see people deny her rights to the poem and I'm glad for her that she finally gets the credit (in most cases) that she deserves.

Being an author and a poet myself, I have experienced having writtings taken by others and posted on their own websites - without references back to the source;nor did they ask permission to use them. However, I have always managed to contact them and "gift" them to right to use my creations - as long as they credited me as the source. I am not sure how I would feel if someone had outright taken my creative works and said they were their own. That is what happened to Margaret Powers and her poem "footrprints". It is so hard to imagine that someone could steal the idea with a spiritual based theme and claim it as their own work.

I believe her story and find her a very loving soul - at least, that is what is projected from her book. The book is a simple a short read but well worth it.

An authoritative tour of the early church. 5 out of 5 stars.

Dr. Boice's commentary on Acts will be enjoyed by historians and Christians alike. He lends valuable context to this chronicle of early church history. Along the way, he examines the daily peaks and troughs of life in the first century church, and highlights Luke's own historical accuracy in retelling the journeys of Paul. From Jerusalem to Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth, it is an oddesey not to be missed. A must for pilgrims yearning to learn more, or sceptics that would like their hard questions about the accuracy of Acts addressed.

A fresh approach-- adds theology to the Biblical exposition 5 out of 5 stars.

The most impressive thing about Boice's work here is his ability to interweave historical, orthodox theology with his interpretation of the Biblical text. Too often there is one without the other, resulting in dry, crusty beliefs that lack spirit and passion-- or, on the other hand, a tendency to get lost in the moorings of the Scripture, and getting trapped in one's own agenda or "canon within the canon." Boice articulates the importance of the great beliefs of the faith (the ascension, for instance) and how our neglect of them as influenced our reading of Scripture, our articulation of the Gospel, and, subsequently, the power of the Message we proclaim (or lack thereof). I don't know that this was his agenda when he began writing or not. Nevertheless, it is certainly a welcome by-product of this work and the Church will be the better for wrestling with these concepts.
