A Warning, A Prediction...A Terrifying Truth 5 out of 5 stars.

First off, this book is incredible. At 13 years old, I didn't understand every aspect of it, but in a whole, everything made perfect, clear sense.
I'm very interested in socialist governments(no, I don't like communist views; I'm a die-hard patriot at 13!), and I consider myself well-informed on up-to-date politics and such. And so, upon reading this book which was recommended to me by one of my teachers, I was horrified at the resemblances that Oceania and the direction our government is headed shared. The foresight of Orwell was shocking, and he kept the book very interesting.
But a good portion of the middle was....awkward. Like, mature-content awkward (most teachers gave me girl-are-you-crazy? looks when they saw I was reading it. Later, I realized why). I almost didn't finish the book, but knowing its importance to my knowledge, I finished it. I definitely do not recommend it to anyone my age....-shudders-
But its imperative that we as Americans read it. Remembering the mistakes of the past (and, in this case, the future) is imperative to keeping our nation a democracy. If we heed most of Orwell's warnings, we will be better equipped to save the future, and in doing so saving the past.

Good first novel 3 out of 5 stars.

Rosenberg's first novel is a pretty good thriller. His action scenes are fast paced and thrilling, even though he crowds in a lot of technical details about weapons. I read these scenes rapidly, eager to find out who would live and who would not.

He also includes a geopolitical story line, which tends to slow the book down. When the hero sits in a on a presidential cabinet meeting my attention began to wander. This part of the story was less interesting. It was also less believable.

The novel sustained my interest through to the end. The action slowed at times, but never stopped. The characters were believable enough. They were described in about as much depth as one would expect from an action novel. This first novel does not rise to the level of Tom Clancy, but it is a good start. I think Rosenberg compares favorably with authors like Vince Flynn.

I've enjoyed Flynn before, but couldn't finish this book 1 out of 5 stars.

I've read two of Vince Flynn's thrillers (Transfer of Power and Third Option) and found them both mildly enjoyable. I started Term Limits and soon realized this was the first book he'd written. I was excited to find out about the origination of some of the reoccurring characters such as Congressman Michael O'Roarke and CIA operative Irene Kennedy.

This book still has the cluncky point of view problems that existed in the Third Option and Flynn's writing style in general is bland, but I the plot started off with a bang. Three well-known politicians were murdered by expertly trained assassins. Their demands are simple. The congress must not pass the president's bloated budged and must instead do what the American people want and enact needed spending cuts. Now, this sounds like an agenda I could agree with, but I certainly don't believe in killing congressmen to get it done.

Imagine my surprise when, early in the book, freshman Congressman Michael O'Roarke (a character in future books) agrees with the killings and believes they are justified. Imagine my surprise as I continue to read and find out O'Roarke may know who was behind the killings but refuses to go to the FBI with the information.

I wanted a hero to get behind and its hard to get behind a hero who advocates killing Senators. Flynn wanted this to be a plausible military thriller, but it fails at every corner. The omniscient point of view definitely detracts from the enjoyment. I also kept waiting for O'Roarke to save other Senators from assassination, but page after page O'Roarke stands behind the killings because he believes the killings are just what Congress needs to stop wasting our money.

Now, I'm a right winger who believes 100% Flynn's message that spending is out of control and must be stopped and that politicians of both parties are more interested in power than helping the country. I found it ludicrous for Flynn to expect me to buy into a hero that, as a congressman, advocates the killing of his co-workers to advance a political agenda.

After 350 pages, I have had enough. I kept reading, thinking O'Roarke would change. But it is obvious he won't and thanks to other Amazon reviews, I know I've made the right decision. I may read other Flynn novels featuring Mitch Rapp, because the first two I read were good, but his first novel is horrible.

America's hero CIA assassin Mitch Rapp along with CIA Director Irene Kennedy are unbeatable! They totally bypass the wimps in The Administration who are more concerned with pretenses than the reality of the war on terrorism. Namely the naive appeasers are Kennedy's new boss, Mark Ross, Director of National Intelligence as well as the Secretary of State and the Attorney General. The President doesn't wimp out. Basically the plot is about a Saudi Prince who puts out a $20 million contract to eliminate Rapp. Other Saudi royalty are also involved. The attempted murder is brokered by a former Stasi agent who comes up with a team of two fascinating killers who are recommended by a former KGB handler. The male/female team has a former member of the French Foreign Legion and his brilliant girlfriend. They nearly succeed in getting Rapp. Rapp recovers from serious wounds and dramatically gets rid of the bad guys. Tremendous,quick, gripping read even at 675 pages. I have enjoyed all books in this series. But think this one is the best.

(Warning to conservatives with no sense of humor: this review contains satirical material and irony, however bald and slimy. Get over yourselves. And yes, I did read it!)

This wet dream for the right wing is just plain silly. Another Good Guy with a name that sounds like a cough. He's so tough, he's even tougher than that hot female secret service agent who whips all the NORMAL secret service wimpy guys in martial arts. Now, that's tough!

The bad guys are Democrats, one of which had the philandering wife of his running mate rubbed out (good riddance -- she's as bad as that woman who messed around with Newt Gingrich! Oh, wait -- he divorced his wife and married that woman!). This Dem is so unbelievably nefarious that he leaks secrets (Just like that . . . that . . . that treasonous JERK who leaked CIA agent Valerie Plame's identity to that liberal commie at CNN) to the incredibly biased New York Times (almost as bad as that pinko outfit Fox News that reported on Obama's energy plan that urges people to save energy by keeping their tires full of air, then immediately after the story advertised how to get an "Obama's goofy energy plan" tire gauge for a $25 donation to the Republicans! Alert!! Media bias!!)!!!

Fortunately for the free world, our hero manages to convince the American people that torture is OK, having put together a really convincing Power Point presentation that his boss at the CIA shows on TV. After that, he's free to just kill most of the rest of the bad guys, you know, just kind of walk up and shoot them. Woo hoo! America rocks! And he's a good shot, too! Kind of wish we'd done that to that evil nefarious guy who spread anthrax around after 9/11, what was his name, Steve Hatfill -- no, wait, he didn't do it! Shoot! Or wait, DON'T shoot!

Don't read this. This is a ridiculous book. Read John LeCarre instead -- oh, wait, Liberals aren't supposed to read LeCarre, so only read him if you're a Conservative. OK?

The Camel Club is cool. They're an odd group of conspiracy theorists, led by Oliver Stone, on a quest for the truth.

Baldacci weaves quite a tale that keeps your attention and is full of twists and turns.

I thought this was a great mystery thriller with a bunch of interesting characters.

This is the first Camel Club novel. The second is The Collectors and the third is Stone Cold.

Really enjoyed this one... 5 out of 5 stars.

Really enjoyed this book and I am placing orders for the next 2 that follow. This was the first "serious" book that I have read in years (since college) and I must say it was great. I endured a few late nights as I didn't want to put the book down. I just finished the book and I am sad that I don't have the next one to start reading right away.

I thought this was better than the Camel Club - & the plot was top notch. It took a while to get into it & though he tidied the 2 separate plot lines, it was still a bit disjointed. Sure - it was a bit 'fantastical' in places but then again it didn't make a difference to the overall story. Good effort - i look forward to the next installment.
