This book isn't the best book of the series I've read, but I enjoyed all the same. The cliffhanger at the end of this novel was really good - wheter Peter and Melanie will ever get it together or will Melanie & Jesse or Peter & Jenna. Nicole is just way to jealous of everything - Jesse liking Melanie more, Leah and the fact that she still hasn't got a life. Leah and Miguel's relationship is just like a fairytal - poor man falls in love with rich girl. But I liked it when he [Migual] questioned his religion. Jenna is a spoiled brat with good intentions, but she can't get everything her own way and she is just so jealous of everyone. Ben is just Ben - he's goofy and really annoying at the same time. And Jesse, well Jesse is just using people to make himself feel better - Nicole [who is quite thick] and the demoned alchol.

Editorial Review:

Halloween is around the corner, and Eight Prime is putting in a lot of hours working on a spooky haunted house fund-raiser. It's the perfect opportunity for Leah and Miguel to bring their budding relationship into the open among their friends. So what is Miguel so afraid of?

Jesse's off the football team--maybe forever. If he can't convince Coach Davis that he's given up drinking, he can give up his NFL dreams for good. Jesse's ready to promise the coach anything to get back on the Wildcats. But promises can be hard to keep....

Melanie would never have believed she'd be interested in a do-gooder like Peter. Yet lately he's the only thing she thinks about. Not that she's falling for him, or anything dumb like that. She and Peter would make a terrible couple. Wouldn't they?

Fantastic Book! 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

Tried and True, like the rest of the Clearwater Crossing books, is another awesome addition to the series. I just got the book and wasn't able to put it down.

Eight Prime is finally getting closer to fulfilling their dream of having summer camp. They still have to finish the necessary safety courses, but with all the goofing off, Jenna is afraid they're never going to pass. While Jenna and Peter are devoted to the summer camp preparations, Nicole is attempting to establish herself as a cheerleader, Miguel is obsessed with work, work, work, and Leah is doubtful about her future. Melanie, frustrated with getting Jesse back and uncertain about her choice of dropping out of cheerleading, can't seem to make much progress with anything. And Ben is just Ben.

There's not a dull moment in this book as the eight are trying to have fun preparing for summer holidays amid their struggles. Whether it's Leah questioning Miguel's attitude or Nicole trying to be popular, this book was great to read. It was funny, thoughtful, and intriguing. I definitely recommend it anyone who enjoys this series or looking for a fun new realistic series to read.

Editorial Review:

Leah and Miguel have been through everything together: his mom's kidney transplant, their broken engagement, even a friend's death. Their love has been tried and has triumphed over and over again. But now they're graduating and things are changing fast. Can their love stay true?

Jenna loves the idea of learning CPR and water safety with Eight Prime--except everyone keeps messing up! How can they be camp counselors if they can't even get certified?

Nicole Brewster, CCHS cheerleader! So what if her arrival on the squad was a little rocky? She has the entire summer to win her fellow cheerleaders over. Not that it ought to take that long!

Great book! 4 out of 5 stars.

Don't Look Back is another fantastic read by Laura Peyton Roberts and I highly recommend it to teenagers.

As this is the finale to Clearwater Crossing, we see the lives of the eight members of Eight Prime evolving for the better. Miguel is headed for a bright future in Clearwater University, and has succeeded in his dream of providing a good home for his mother and sister. Leah is filled with bittersweet feelings as she prepares to attend her aspired college while also preparing to leave the town, friends and family that she loves. Peter, as the leader of Eight Prime, strives to lead the group as best as he can, and also strives to provide a warm and loving home for Jason. Jenna is full of satisfaction with her life at this moment, as she continues singing in the band and takes on the new responsibility of being the oldest Conrad sister living at home. Melanie has finally found the contentment and peace that she so desperately yearned for in the beginning of the series. She finally experiences the love of her father, of Jesse, and has managed to fully overcome the grief of her mother's death to look at life anew. She decides to attend the bible-study class that Peter invited her to, showing that she is willing to explore the doubts she faces about Christianity.

While Melanie's life makes a turn for the better, Jesse feels a sense of belonging in his family at last. Nicole also manages to deal with her low self-esteem and her concern with physical appearance. Still in shock over the fact that he has a girlfriend, Ben is no longer as ashamed of himself as before.

As you read this book, you will be filled with mixed emotions. A sense of happiness will fill you as the members of Eight Prime seem to be leading meaningful lives, while a feeling of disappointment will be felt as you realize this is the last book in the series.

However, one negative aspect of the book is that the problems faced by the different characters at the beginning of the series seemed to be solved at too fast a pace. This made it seem rather unrealistic. I wish the series would continue so that readers can find out more about how Eight Prime continue with their lives and how they cope with future problems. Loose ends could be tied up too!

Editorial Review:

The members of Eight Prime have been through a year full of ups and downs, but now summer is ending, and so is their time together. . . .

Leah and Miguel are getting ready to start college apart, and Peter’s already feeling the pressure of senior year. Jenna can’t believe she’s going to be the oldest sister in the Conrad house now that Caitlin’s marrying David. Meanwhile, Ben’s still in starry-eyed shock over the fact that he has a girlfriend, Melanie and Jesse will be starting the new school year as a couple, and Nicole is starting to wonder if couplehood is all it’s cracked up to be! None of them can be sure what the coming year will bring. But they still have these last few days of summer. . . .

Over all "Love Hurts" was a very good book 5 out of 5 stars.
11 of 12 people found this review helpful.

"Love Hurts" by Laura Peyton Roberts was just as goodas all of her other Clearwater Crossing books with a little moremystery. "Love Hurts" was very fun and inspiring. This book, like all Clearwater Crossing books, did not contain any questionable material. Letting you enjoy it without worry. Compared to the previous books, "Love Hurts" lived up to all my expectations as far as entertainment, character development, plot development. Boiled down, I throughly enjoyed this book.

Editorial Review:

Every time Jenna sees Melanie, all she can think about is the kiss her friend shared with Peter. Jenna wants to believe it meant nothing, but her jealous heart tells her that's not true. Maybe she and Peter never should have turned their friendship into romance. And maybe breaking up would be the best thing for them all. . . .

Miguel loves working at the hospital. He's witnessing the incredible skill of the doctors firsthand, and he's making a difference in the lives of sick kids, especially 9-year-old Zach. The nurses have warned him against having favorites, but Miguel can't help getting attached to the brave young boy who's fighting for his life. Besides, Zach's going to get well . . . isn't he?

Clearwater Summer 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Summer's in full swing, and things are going great for most of Eight Prime!

Leah and Miguel are spending every minute together before she leaves for California. Jesse and Melanie are finally a couple and so happy! Melanie can't believe how her life has changed: she's in love, and her father has stopped drinking and has a new job. Things can't get much better, or can they? A pet kitten named Min shows her that they can!

Jenna's happy too; she's started singing with Guy's band. But will anyone hire them? And how will she write songs when she can barely rhyme?

Nicole's still obsessing over her critical new boyfriend, who seems to spot every little flaw. And Ben is terrified his new girlfriend will find out that he's not really cool at all.

This book was a great addition to the rest of the series; it really showed how all of the group has changed in one short year.

Editorial Review:

Jesse’s finally going to see his brothers after all this time . . . but will this be the awesome reunion he’s banking on?

Miguel is having the summer of his life–helping out at the day camp, working at the hospital, and spending every spare minute with Leah. To top it off, he and his family are about to move into a house of their own. Can life really be this good?

Jesse can barely believe that he and Melanie are finally together. So how can he leave her? Sure, he knows he promised to visit his older brothers in California . . . but promises are meant to be broken, aren’t they?

Nicole’s mom is having a baby! How could her parents do this to her? Don’t they know how embarrassing this will be? More importantly, don’t they realize they could all end up with another Heather on their hands?

A Terrific Read, Once Again 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I have read all of the series so far, and this book reminded me of why I liked them to begin with. If you have read all of the CC books, then you'll love this one. I was dissappointed with the last couple of books because it seemed like everything was going down-hill. We hardly ever heard Miguel's, Ben's, or Jesse's perspective and it seemed like all of the characters were becoming depressed or dull. But it seems like things are finally starting to look up. But we all know that won't last too long.

The thing I like best about this book and series is that it has Christian values at its core without being preachy or unbelievable. You can relate to the characters because they go through confusing times and REAL issues just like teens today. It's so refreashing to read about things other than "boy loves girl, boy and girl break up, boy and girl get back together."

BEWARE: The only bad thing about the series is that the books are highly addictive. They end in suspenseful cliff-hangers making it almost impossible to wait for the next book to come out. I just hope the series continues a bit longer despite a couple of the characters heading off to college.

Editorial Review:

Eight Prime's first summer together . . . is it their last?

Peter never expected running a day camp to be like this. Jesse is sulking, Nicole skipped out on them, and Melanie is flirting with his brother! Jenna has a cold, the kids are acting like pro wrestlers, and bumbling Counselor Ben is about to wear through Peter's last good nerve. What did he get himself into?

Melanie and Jesse have seen their ups and downs. First she hated him, then she liked him, then she dumped him . . . and then she fell in love. Will they ever get things sorted out? Or is it time to walk away for good?

Another Excellent Clearwater Crossing! 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 5 people found this review helpful.

Once again, we get another great Clearwater Crossing book. This book is truly different from the rest in the series. The guys and gals are facing many issues. Nicole is trying out for cheerleading and wants Melanie to coach her, but Melanie's too busy investigating her mother's past. Ben's got a crush on Angela Maldonado - will he ask her out? And will Jenna and Peter's romance survive - or fizzle out? It's all in this book!

Editorial Review:

Nicole is desperate to make the CCHS cheerleading squad and this year's competition is even tougher than last.

She's got to get some help, and fast. Can Nicole swallow her pride and ask Melanie to coach her?

Throwing caution to the wind, Ben decides to pursue his dream girl and ask Angela out. If she says yes, it will be a miracle . . . but miracles do happen!

Peter's psyched to run a day camp for the Junior Explorers. It's a big commitment, but he knows he can pull it off, especially if Jenna helps. But his girlfriend seems consumed with her sister Sarah's recovery from a near-fatal car accident. Does Jenna still have time for Peter, or is she slipping away?

Wonderfully Done-Again! 5 out of 5 stars.
11 of 15 people found this review helpful.

This book-as the others-wonderfully displays how teens today cope with life's accidents. They portray how we feel almost always, and while I've never coped with anyone I love being in a car accident, I know that I would feel just as horrible as the next person. L.P.Roberts did an excellent job with this book as in the last 11 books-I've read (and have) them all. So, I believe that these books are easy, and good for us all. Maybe they're good because they take our focus off of us and let us see other people's problems and lives in a new light. I recommend this book (and series) to anyone who needs a "breather" from all the hype that is associated with us teens.

Another 5 star book from Laura Peyton Roberts 5 out of 5 stars.
11 of 11 people found this review helpful.

Who knew that after one boring day in the bookstore I would end up this obsessed with a series? The Clearwater Crossing series is truly an original series, and I love it! I love how Roberts can make you involved in each one of the lives of Eight Prime. Hope Happens is a good example of how she can make you look into the deepest depth of the character's souls. I now feel connected to each character, and I can't wait until the next book comes out. The book will make you laugh, cry, and smile with joy! I would recommend it to anybody looking for a wholesome good read.

Clearwater Crossing-More than this 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I read Clearwater Crossing-More This by Laura Peyton Roberts. (A series of books). A school club called Eight Prime consists of 8 friends that have to deal with a lot of things that teenagers do, such as we do now. But in this book, 3 of the main characters problems I will describe and tell what they make of them.
Summary:
*Jesse lives with his dad and stepmom Elsa, who he hates, also little step-sister Brittany he can't stand. Things haven't been goin well for him. His mother, who he dearly loves and misses, lives in California is coming to Clearwater Crossing and he cannot' wait to see her! But everyone else;his stepmother is jealous, father is tense. and his little sister has turned into a huge snot! When his mother comes, they re-unite, go out to eat, talk about things. Everything was how it used to be. He wants to move back to California so bad. Later he finds out that he should just stay for certain reasons ,but when will his family just give him peace?
*Melanie had just broken up with Jesse a little while ago and they were pretty close, since they were friends before and both part of the Eight Prime. She has never felt so lonely, no one seems to be there for her. And her father?..well there's really nothing to say about him. He is either passed out on the couch or heading to the kitchen for another beer. Out of nowhere, her aunt Gwen called one day to ask if she would like to come and stay with her in Iowa for the coming weekend. Melanie thought it was weird, she had never had a relationship with her dead mother's sister, and hasn't seen her forever. After getting away for awhile she realizes it is kind of nice to be there. All she wants is to start over fresh. She's constantly thinking "theres got to be more than this."
*Nicole's parents are mkaing her work at Wienerageous with her cousin Gail to teach her responsibility. They both gave extra free food to a "cute" guy and unfortuneately, the boss, Mr.Roarke saw them. If Nicole gets fired, her parents will kill her! It's bad enough that her best friend Courtney, has turned on herand made new best friends with a girl named Emily that Nicole can't stand! Amazingly, the boss gave the girls a break, but there were only things that Gail had to do....date him! It ended up being more than once. Nicole was scared for her cousin, but Gail said she had it under control. What is there to happen next with the whole job fiasco, and her old friend Courtney acting better than her with Emily?
*The Eight Prime has a big idea to sell suckers and Carnations for Valentine's Day. Ben volunteered to take care of all of it. So, at one of the meetings, they all pitched in money. But, when that plan backfired, what more could Ben do than feel sorry to everyone?
Characters:
*Jesse~he seems like a genuinly nice kid, but had a mind of his own and strongly agrees withhis opinions. Very self spoken and if he gets mad, he can be very stubborn. Also, is caring for his family and close friends.
*Melanie~She is a good-hearted person with little spirit. She seems that if something is wrong, she will find her ways through her own brought up faith and passion. She is also very popular.
*Nicole~She is a very sensitive girl. If something goes bad, she'll panic. She's a soft-hearted and caring person.
*Ben~Kind of a nerdy type person but good friends with the rest (Eight Prime). He's a good guy and cares deeply about his loved ones. Very nice to people.

Quotes from the book: --(1 that matches each person)
1. Knowing mom, she's sure to want to go hiking, or sight-seeing, or something that involves getting as cold as possible, he thought as he reached his room. He'd seen more of Clearwater Crossing since she'd been in town than in the whole year he'd lived there without her! ~Jesse
2. Melanie narrowed her eyes. "That's good. If you understood, I might have to completely revise my opinion of you." Jesse's lip curled slightly, but he left without another word. ~Melanie
3.Nicole felt sick, but she knew she owed her cousin an explanation. "I just...I don't trust Mr.Roarke. And I was really afraid for you Gail. I was afraid he was going to hurt you." ~Nicole
4. "Even if you're right, Im the idiot who picked that shady company. Everyone trusted me, and I let them down." Ben said with a sigh. ~Ben
Genre: Romance/Fiction (true-life)
Setting:Clearwater Crossing
Theme:It will get better. Whatever is meant to be, will work out in the end.
Comments: I like how the author described the people and went from one scene to another. It felt like I was in it, which made it so much more interesting. I would like to try another book of her series!
