Editorial Review:

In Medjugorje, on June 25, 1981, five teenagers and a nine-year-old began telling others that they were seeing the Blessed Virgin Mary on a local mountain with the Infant Christ in her arms.  The visions of the children continued daily.  The Blessed Virgin Mary, who identified herself as the “Queen of Peace” on that day continues to bring messages for the entire world.

Like Lourdes and Fatima before it, Medjugorje has become a holy site for worshippers around the world.  The Visions of the Children, Revised and Updated Edition features exclusive conversations with the six apparitioners who have been receiving, since June 1981, visions and messages of the Virgin Mary.  After 25 years, three of the original visionaries continue to see the Blessed Mother daily.

This revised and updated edition includes:

-new information on the six visionaries who first saw Mary at Medjugorje

-Messages from the Virgin Mary through June 2006

-extraordinary secrets about the final chapter in the history of the world

-A new, updated list of Marian Centers worldwide.

This is a must have volume for anyone interested in the Blessed Virgin Mary, Marian apparitions, or Mejugorgje.

At home therapy 5 out of 5 stars.
8 of 8 people found this review helpful.

If you think that you might benefit from "therapy", listen to this program. A large part of the effort of therapy is getting an individual to open to themselves, to see themselves as they really are, as a precursor to making changes in their life. Caroline Myss' recordings of "Energy Anatomy" and "Advanced Energy Anatomy" open the door to that introspection, giving you a framework in which to see your past life, and present actions. True, you may not agree with everything she says. But I guarantee you will find yourself nodding in agreement over and over again, at the insightful ways she presents the workings of human minds and emotions. And you will find Caroline Myss offering you answers to many of the questions you've asked yourself ("Why do I do this?" "Why did I do that?") over the years. I'm not recommending you forego therapy, if you really need it. Professional therapy can be very valuable. But I am saying that Caroline's recordings are a terrific way of getting in touch with yourself, and seeing yourself clearly (maybe for the first time), regardless of whether you want to pursue professional counseling, or not. And because (as Caroline says) the mind and emotions are prime determinants of the health of the body, this is an excellent series for anyone interested in taking good care of their body, and creating the best health possible for a vibrant and very happy life. "Energy Anatomy" offers a new way of looking at yourself, at others, and at the world around you, and this program may be the best thing you try this year.

Editorial Review:

Complete nine-hour course reveals every phase of her groundbreaking work with the human energy system, including the chakra system, intuition, power centers, biology and biography, self-healing principles, reclaiming your power, and much more.

5 Stars Not Enough For Such A Life Changing Story As This 5 out of 5 stars.
7 of 8 people found this review helpful.

The Twelfth Angel, by Og Mandigo, is truly an inspiring and heartfelt story. This story left such an unforgettable impact on me that I know I'm likely to ponder it for years. Everyone should absolutely read this book, especially those in need of inspiration and hope. This book leaves you with tears, with hope you never knew you had, and with the wanting to never give up.

I don't want to give away too much, but this book is about a young, diligent, succesful, loving man who moves back to his small hometown of Boland, NH, with his wife Sally and their young boy Rick. When tradegy strikes, John has to struggle to cope. His life is shattered and he ultimately looks to suicide as an answer. Fortunately, his old friend, Bill helps him out of the gutter, which is where his life now lies, by asking him to help coach the boys little league. Uncertain, John finally accepts.

The day of tryouts John notices a boy who is smaller than any of the other kids, whose baseball hat and clothes look about two sizes too big on him. This little boy isn't very good at baseball, but he kept on trying, the whole time with determination and a big smile on his face. Although some of the older and better kids laughed and smirked at his constant mistakes and misses, this little boy was never put down and never stopped. And to John's surprise, this boy was amazingly the splitting image of his boy Rick! At first John had even thought he could have been Rick. This little boy, Timothy Noble, was by far the worst player of all the kids who tried out, and who had managed, almost as if by destiny, to end up on John's baseball team, receiving a jersey with number twelve on it.

Early on in the baseball season, John noticed that there was something very genuine and original about Timothy. What John and Timothy both don't know, is that their relationship will become very close, as they both need each other more than they can imagine.

I absolutely loved this heartfelt story. I even had tears gushing down my cheeks as I neared the end of the book. I think that this book is truly inspiring and comforting. I loved how caring and concerned John was of Timothy, and I especially loved little Timothy Noble and how happy he was. I was truly touched by this story and will always cherish everything I learned from this book. The lesson I think that Mandigo was in a way trying to get across is that you must be positive and have at least a good-maybe even a great-outlook on life, no matter what comes your way. If you are positive, you have a positive feedback, making your life richer everyday and in many different ways.

I really enjoyed Og Mandigo's writing style, as he was very, very vivid with his descriptions. I definitely plan to read more of his books in the future, and I would recommend this book to anyone who can read!

WELL DONE 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I bought this book simply to support the effort to raise awareness of the inner workings of The Family. I didn't think I'd ever get around to reading it, as I have hundreds of books that I have not yet read.
Upon seeing the size of it I felt confidant that I would never read it, however, after skimming through it and seeing all the familiar terminology and names, I decided to start from the beginning. I finished it in 5 days. That's fast for me.
I could relate to almost every situation, and to all the feelings of frustration, boredom and anger that arose from being in those kind of situations. I will never go back.

After spending the first 20 years of my life in "the family" I can say from first hand experience that the information presented in this book, is an accurate representation of life in "the family".

Editorial Review:

Kristina, Celeste, and Juliana were all born into the Children of God cult, and from as early as three years old were mistreated and used as sexual beings. They were denied access to formal schooling, forced to wander the streets begging for money, and were mercilessly beaten for "crimes" as harmless as reading an encyclopedia. After being separated from each other and their mothers and forced to live in various missions with multiple foster parents, the sisters eventually managed to escape. In this startling exposé, they have come together to reveal in horrific detail the group that has destroyed the lives of so many. Their intertwining stories reveal a community spread throughout the world whose legacy of anorexia, depression, drug abuse, suicide, and even murder are impossible to erase. Together, the sisters found a strength that finally enabled them to uncover and free themselves from the shadows of their past.

Loving and Losing 5 out of 5 stars.

This book was such a wonderful gift when we lost our daughter. Out of all the materials that were received this one truly walked me through my feelings and gave hope. We now donate a number of these books to our hospital so that the comfort I found can be shared with others that are grieving.

Just What I Needed... 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This is the perfect book for those of us who have faced the sudden and unexpected end of a pregnancy. I didn't know how to grieve my loss, after all, I had never seen or held or touched or heard my baby, but all the same, I felt an unexplainable depth of pain and loss. This book helped me to validate my unborn child's existence, give him or her an identity, and work through the process of healing. Five months after my loss, I still hurt and grieve and ache for my baby, but I know I'm on the road to recovery and will continue to recover with the help of books like this one. I also ordered one for my mother, who suffered a miscarriage 33 years ago...she said it even helped her to deal with the loss of that "unknown" child so long ago. I would recommend this to anyone who has suffered a pregnancy loss, who has lost a young child, or who loves someone who is going through such a difficult time as that.

Editorial Review:

A devotional companion offering comfort, the reassurance of God’s presence, and strength for the journey through grief to healing for those who have lost a child through miscarriage, tubal pregnancy, stillbirth, or early infant death.

I'll Hold You In Heaven 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The stated purpose of Jack Hayford's book, I'll Hold You In Heaven, is "to offer a path to hope and healing - not through happy talk or platitudes, but through the solid footing of the holy truth of God's Word." (p. 10) This book addresses its message to those who have lost a child prior to birth (as a result of miscarriage, stillbirth, or abortion) or shortly thereafter. He carefully addresses many of the hard questions asked by those who have been affected by such losses in a caring and biblical manner, looking to Scripture as the ultimate source of hope and comfort.

It is an easy read, in the literary sense - simple and straightforward in it's message, and only 117 pages. But, from a purely emotional standpoint, it can be an extremely difficult book to tackle. There were days that I was determined to begin reading, but I could not get past the title before the tears started. But, as the newness of the pain lessened, I once again decided to pick up this book, and give it another try.

The first three chapters lay the foundation for the hope that can be found in the following pages. First, the author begins with the understanding that true hope, in any situation or circumstance, can only come from God's Word. This perspective is key to the hope and encouragement that Hayford offers his readers. He establishes, in the first few pages, that life is a gift from the Creator. God has given man the ability to reproduce not only physical bodies, but eternal souls! Hayford clearly gives evidence that life not only begins at conception, but is real and eternal from that point.

"Here is the crux of the matter, for if we are only dealing with chemistry or tissue in examining the nature of the fetus or the stillborn, there is little at stake. But...there is something more involved here than mere chemical combinations or complex structures of tissues." (p. 16)

He is quick to point out that "no unborn child is without distinct spiritual significance in God's design." (p. 52) There is great encouragement to be found in this truth, because

"...there is no being without purpose in the larger providences of God. His purposes may not always harmonize with ours, but in the eternal symphony, we will come to recognize better the part played by each creature - even when the note played by circumstances seems dissonant." (p. 51)

However, this perspective can often raise more questions than it answers. Hayford approaches these difficult questions with the sensitive heart of a pastor, but also with a straightforward and honest look at the reality and consequences of sin.

Will my unborn child go to Heaven or Hell? Of course, the emotional response is that they would go to Heaven. And, while this is the belief of the author, he is quick to remind the reader that the answer must be based on the authority of Scripture, not on emotional whims.

What will they look like? Hayford does not attempt to answer the unanswerable. He simply states that their physical form in Heaven is as unpredictable to the parent now as it was before birth. But, the certainty is that they are not "wispy spooks" floating about. They have real, heavenly bodies, and they will be recognizable.

Will I recognize them? Yes, they will be recognized, and known. While the answer to this question can bring great comfort to those who have lost a child that was desired and planned for, the author realizes that it can cause shame and fear for the parent of an aborted child. He does not suggest that one is not responsible for the sinful choices they have made in the past, and the consequences that inevitably result. Instead, he responds with honest compassion, offering hope that the judgment of, and condemnation for sin lies only with God. And, if He has forgiven your sin then you are no longer condemned. (Romans 8:1)

Romans 8:28 says "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." This verse is often quoted, in part, "as though we are helpless victims of God's sovereign will who, whatever happens, just have to hope for the best." (p. 81) But that is not the case at all! This verse gives hope and certainty to the believer that God can take any circumstance and use it for our good (and His glory).

Throughout the book Hayford offers biblical assurance for the existence of the lost child, their spiritual capacity, and eternal dwelling place. But, he does not pretend to ignore the very real feelings of grief and loss that can result from the experience of losing a child (whatever the reason). And he addresses the bitterness and anger that may result if those feelings are not dealt with biblically. He reminds the reader that we live in a fallen world, and death is the result of sin, it was not God's fault.

This book, I believe, achieves its purpose of offering hope and encouragement to those who have lost a child. It does not sidestep human sin and responsibility, but looks to God's Word for the answers to some very difficult questions. It was given to me after experiencing a miscarriage, by a friend who had been through the same. But, I would not hesitate to recommend it to those who have never experienced the loss of a child as well. Its compassionate and biblical approach to a painful topic would serve as a good resource for any believer.

Editorial Review:

For those who have lost a child to death, Jack Hayford provides compassionate answers to troubling questions such as, What happened to my baby after it died? Will I ever see my baby again-and will I recognize him? what happens if I've had an abortion? Does God have a reason for letting my child die? God's Word shines with hope in the dark night of human pain. God showed his tenderness when David lost the child he had with Bathsheba shortly after its birth. In his pain and grief, David spoke the word of revelation-reassuring word of God's truth-saying, "I will go to (my child) but he will not return to me" (2 Samuel 12:19-23). The freeing truth of the Word of God promises that, like David, you will hold your child again in heaven.

Balanced, biblical, and wholesome 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I think this is an excellent book because it steers away from the external performace-orientation of some Christian books. These books sometimes almost view raising a child like training a dog. The whole focus is on getting the child to do the right thing, to obey. This title also steers away from the other extreme forms of parenting--the child is a delicate, fragile piece of glass that must be coddled, never contradicted or criticized, given whatever he or she wants, and praised for each and every thing they do.

Campbell moves to a more biblical focus. He shows that if you build a healthy love relationship, you can exercise appropriate discipline in love and children will actually appreciate it and come to view it as what it is--the most loving thing you could do for them.

Editorial Review:

Most parents would be shocked to discover that their child doesn't feel loved. After all, we go to their school events, drive them where they want to go. How could they not feel loved? And yet, the top issue among children and the source of most childhood challenges is just that, not feeling completely and unconditionally loved by their parents. Here's your chance to do a quick evaluation of your parenting skills with D. Ross Campbell, M.D., renowned children's expert. If you don't read one other parenting book this year, read this one!

I'd rate this a ZERO if I could 1 out of 5 stars.
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

This book is no good. Definitely doesn't lead teens in the way they should go. And thats fine if it doesn't claim to be a "Christian" book. No book should be titled in reference to "God" as this one is. Obviously the author was TRYING to attract Christians out there. Seriously if I wasn't a Christian I wouldn't of looked twice at this book.

Editorial Review:

Suppose you could ask God any question and get an answer. What would it be? Well, young people all over the world have been asking those questions. So Neale Donald Walsch, author of the internationally best-selling Conversations with God series of books (in 27 languages so far), had another conversation. It's a simple, clear, straight-to-the-point dialogue. The answers may challenge your beliefs about God, money, sex, love, about everything you may have been taught. But if you ever wanted to know if God is listening to you, if God can really help, if God cares about you, if there is a God, and if there are answers to your questions, then this is the book for you.

Because you'll discover that it is not really the author's conversation with God that matters. It's your own conversation. And there's not a better time to begin than right now.

Great Youth Book 5 out of 5 stars.

I loved this book in high school. I thought it was great tool for any Catholic young adult. If you like this book you would also like: Men for Life: Everything You Need to Know to Start a Men's Pro-Life Club.

Approved by the Catholic Church! Excellent resource! 4 out of 5 stars.
4 of 5 people found this review helpful.

The only thing I dislike about this book is that it is advertised as being for teens. I really think it is for everyone. The book is a Q and A format which makes it much easier to swallow for those who are younger or perhaps do not want to undertake a huge amount of reading on the subject. There is no doubt that the title draws people in which I like. Anything that allows someone to get a good overview of the teachings of the Church without feeling that they need a degree in theology is a good thing. I would point out that the reviewer who said the author had problems with his theology has the right to his opinion but I fail to understand it. This book has been approved by the Catholic Church and it has both the Imprimateur and Nihil Obstat. Both of those mean that it has been reviewed and acknowledged to be free of error. I cannot understand why someone would judge a book as being theologically unsound when the Catholic Church itself has approved it. In my own opinion this book is right on with the Catechism and one of the very best you will find if you are looking for the truth in a format that is easier to understand.

Editorial Review:

This book is the #1 book teens turn to for answers on their Catholic Faith. It inspires, informs and challenges teens. With over 125,000 copies sold, Did Adam & Eve Have Belly Buttons? is the top teen book in the Church, five straight years in a row. Each year, literally hundreds of parishes and schools use Did Adam & Eve? with their teens. It gets read and changes hearts!
