this book has been very painful to read. tears streaming down my face i had to confront my own heart issues and my own comfort level. for the first time i saw parenting through the eyes of God and this book will show you yourself in a new light. before using the principles on my children, i have to use them on me. what a blessing. reading this book is so convicting. while reading i felt the rivers of living waters flow from this book. what biblical and godly advice! no matter how much this hits home, i know the Spirit of God has moved this mans heart to write this and open eyes. it will bring you back to the cross and ask for mercy. i thank God for the courage of Tedd to write this book. may He bless him!!! a must read for every christian parent that means real business. not for a quick fix! but a constant growing to become more like Christ. it makes you realize that truly without God this is an impossible task.

Editorial Review:

Written for parents with children of any age, this insightful book provides perspectives and procedures for shepherding your child's heart into the paths of life. Shepherding a Child's Heart gives fresh biblical approaches to child rearing.

A must for teachers 5 out of 5 stars.

This book title was given to me by an OT. Since I knew little about the sensory issues in children I bought it. Was I ever glad I did. It has really helped me deal with the student in my classroom. Plus it has made me aware of possible sensory problems in my future students.

Just what I needed 5 out of 5 stars.

When you finally have a resource in your hands that shows a mirror to the child you're trying to help...well, you know what a great feeling that can be. While I could re-read many sections so that I could better understand the deficiencies my child's nervous system has, I came away from this book knowing that I finally have a handbook on his problems. It's a very comprehensive collection of both explanation and resources. I'm telling my whole family to read it.

Editorial Review:

NEWLY REVISED AND UPDATED

The Out-of-Sync Child broke new ground by identifying Sensory Processing Disorder, a common but frequently misdiagnosed problem in which the central nervous system misinterprets messages from the senses. This newly revised edition features additional information from recent research on vision and hearing deficits, motor skill problems, nutrition and picky eaters, ADHA, autism, and other related disorders.

Editorial Review:

At last! This special cookbook puts flavor and choice back on the menu for people with diabetes and their families
Betty Crocker, America's most trusted friend in the kitchen, has teamed up with the International Diabetes Center (IDC)--one of the leading medical centers--to create an indispensable source of easy-to-make recipes and up-to-the-minute food and nutrition information for the growing numbers of people who have diabetes, more than 15 million of them.
Here is the first cookbook to include recipes featuring Carbohydrate Choices--the new, simplified approach to meal planning recommended by the American Diabetes Association. For people who find diet exchanges too hard, too limiting or too much work, this new method is a real breakthrough. Each of the book's 140 recipes shows the number of Carbohydrate Choices per serving, so that planning the rest of the meal is easy. From Old-Time Beef and Vegetable Stew to Creamy Vanilla-Caramel Cheesecake, the recipes are made with everyday ingredients, including sugar. No food groups or ingredients are left out, so there's no need for anyone to feel deprived or restricted to a special diet. Food exchanges are also included, making it easy for those who still count calories.
Betty Crocker's Diabetes Cookbook is also packed with expert medical and nutrition tips from Dr. Richard Bergenstal, an endocrinologist and diabetes doctor, and two registered nurses--invaluable for the newly diagnosed as well as for those who have been coping with diabetes for years. Throughout the book, real-life advice from people who have diabetes offers inspiration and great ideas on dealing with this chronic disease. When it comes to eating and living with diabetes, people need guidance and advice they can trust.

Practical help for fear and anxiety 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Anyone struggling with fear or anxiety would do well to read this book. Susan Jeffers has written a wonderful book full of practical advice for overcoming fear and building courage to do what you want to do in life. She does it in a humane way without stigmatizing the person who is suffering. She recounts the story of one person who showed up for her class on coping with fear, and announced that she almost didn't attend, for fear of having a panic attack in front of everyone. Susan then asked her to show the class what a panic attack would look like, and of course, the student was unable to conjure one up. Throughout the book, she tells stories about how people overcame things they were afraid of, and started having fuller lives, using the techniques in the book. One of the main tenets of the book is that fear is not going away, and the only way to get past the fear is to go out and do what you want in spite of the fear. This is not a book you will want to read once and forget about. It is one you will want to refer to time and time again, for reminders on actions you can take to Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway. They are actions you will need to remember to do often, until they become habits.

Editorial Review:

Dynamic and inspirational, FEEL THE FEAR AND DO IT ANYWAY is filled with concrete techniques to turn passivity into asssertiveness. Dr. Susan Jeffers, teaches you how to stop negative thinking patterns and reeducate your mind to think more positively. You will learn: the vital 10-Step Positive Thinking Process; how to risk a little every day; how to turn every decision into a "No-Lose" situation, and much more.

New way to approach old problems 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This book is easy to read, and most will recognise themselves more than once in the featured couples. The author has developed a very effective method for dealing with problems that haunt most couples. There are many "conversations" to have with your partner to excercise the skills outlined in the book. I highly recommend to any couple, especially those that have the same arguments over and over that never get resolved.

Editorial Review:

Heralded by the New York Times and Time magazine as the couple therapy with the highest rate of success, Emotionally Focused Therapy works because it views the love relationship as an attachment bond. This idea, once controversial, is now supported by science, and has become widely popular among therapists around the world. In HOLD ME TIGHT, Dr. Sue Johnson presents Emotionally Focused Therapy to the general public for the first time. Johnson teaches that the way to save and enrich a relationship is to reestablish safe emotional connection and preserve the attachment bond. With this in mind, she focuses on key moments in a relationship-from Recognizing the Demon Dialogue to Revisiting a Rocky Moment-and uses them as touchpoints for seven healing conversations. Through case studies from her practice, illuminating advice, and practical exercises, couples will learn how to nurture their relationships and ensure a lifetime of love. (2008)

Editorial Review:

In Raising Cain, Dan Kindlon, Ph.D., and Michael Thompson, Ph.D., two of the country's leading child psychologists, share what they have learned in more than thirty-five years of combined experience working with boys and their families. They reveal a nation of boys who are hurting--sad, afraid, angry, and silent. Kindlon and Thompson set out to answer this basic, crucial question: What do boys need that they're not getting? They illuminate the forces that threaten our boys, teaching them to believe that "cool" equals macho strength and stoicism. Cutting through outdated theories of "mother blame," "boy biology," and "testosterone," the authors shed light on the destructive emotional training our boys receive--the emotional miseducation of boys.

Kindlon and Thompson make a compelling case that emotional literacy is the most valuable gift we can offer our sons, urging parents to recognize the price boys pay when we hold them to an impossible standard of manhood. They identify the social and emotional challenges that boys encounter in school and show how parents can help boys cultivate emotional awareness and empathy--giving them the vital connections and support they need to navigate the social pressures of youth.

everyone should read 5 out of 5 stars.

Very good book. I think everyone should read it then maybe people would try to get along better. With the government trying to take God out of everything I guess love will be next.

Newly Engaged 4 out of 5 stars.

This book was recommened to me and my fiance by a friend of ours. She said that it was a quick read and would help in communication prior to the actual wedding. She was correct. We both read the book and then discussed it. It did help me to verbalize (and him as well) what we wanted (needed) from each other.

Good condition upon receipt 4 out of 5 stars.

Good condition. I didn't realize the book was going to be pocket size, but maybe I just didn't read enough of the description.

Editorial Review:

People express and receive love in different ways. Dr. Gary Chapman identifies these as the five languages of love: quality time, words of affirmation, gifts, acts of service and physical touch. If you express love toward others in a way they don't understand, they will not realize you've expressed your love at all. The problem is that you're speaking different languages! Abridged version of the New York Times bestselling title.

A must have for parents with boys! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

For every parent with boys, this book is a must read! Dr. James Dobson brilliantly discusses the challenges boys face in this world and how we as parents should deal with and handle our boys. The future of our young men is so important, and Dr. James Dobson educates the reader on how to help grow our boys into strong, respectful, spiritual men.

Editorial Review:

With so much confusion about the role of men in our society, it's no wonder so many parents and teachers are at a loss about how to bring up boys. Our culture has vilified masculinity and, as a result, boys are suffering. Parents, teachers, and others involved in shaping the character of boys have many questions. In Bringing Up Boys, Dr. James Dobson, America's most trusted authority on family issues, tackles these questions and offers advice and encouragement based on a firm foundation of biblical principles. Bringing Up Boys--a must-read book for parents, teachers, social workers, youth leaders, counselors--anyone involved in the challenge of turning boys into good men.

The audio book is read by world-renowned narrator Frank Muller and punctuated by original music.
