I was given this book to read by a friend at my church, and I reluctantly took it because I am not a huge reader. After the first chapter, I was hooked and couldn't put it down! There is a lot of good instruction, and the part I like most is Jim Cymbala backs up the instruction with real-life experiences and results. Granted, not all results will be similar to his, but he shows the foundation on which to build your life. I highly recommend this book (I bought one for my father, brother, and father-in-law).

This is the story of a church and a man who fulfill the purpose of showing God to a weary world. The emphasis on prayer is what is needed in a day when so many worship the minister or the program. If we prayed more, we would worship God more and would know how to present him to a needy world.

This book was recommended to me...3 times before I ordered it. Once I got it, I couldnt put it down. As I read it, I felt like it was about me, and realized why people were recommending it to me. This book is a real eye opener to those who are "stuck" in their ordinary life.

Lewis addresses a major need in our society: raising our boys into men. This is a timely message because we live in a society that has completely forgotten that there is such a thing. Or else its definition of a man is far short of what the Bible calls 'a man'. Lewis offers many helpful tips on how to celebrate rites of passage from boyhood to manhood - tips that I may just use with my own sons.
That said, I felt that his overall view of what a man is still fell short of the biblical standard. What was lacking in this book was 'how' this is done. To come up with good insight and goals to strive for in wanting to become a man is one thing - to show young men 'how' that is to be done is quite another. Our power to become men and to live like men and to treat women as they should be treated and to stand for truth the way we're called to is rooted firmly in Jesus Christ, not in our best intentions to be men. I'm not sure that Lewis wouldn't agree with this; however, I did not read much of it in his book.
We cannot just give ourselves a good vision of manhood and then strive, in our own best intentions, to live it out. We WILL fail at this if it is not rooted in our life source Himself, Jesus Christ. I appreciate what Lewis has done - he has narrowed the gap between what little writing is out there on biblical manhood and what should be. But I would have liked to have seen our Savior magnified more as the Cornerstone for how such men are made and sustained.

This is my 4th Karen Kingsbury book and I cannot get enough. This book was so good I was done reading it in 2 days and I probably would have finished it sooner if not for my kids. Super read, can't wait to get the next one!!!

I had to reorder this for I thought it was on CD, but it was on tape which I couldn't listen to. I ended up buying it on CD so that I could listen to it. I enjoyed the CD for it was in a series about the Baxter's and their family. In this one a granddaughter almost drowns but is saved by the grace of God. There are family problems but they are worked through and weddings take place which could ony happen because of God.

I've owned this book for more than three years and finally read it in the last couple of weeks. What I was waiting for I am not sure but I waited too long. It forms an excellent presentation of the Gospel that saves men's souls!

Safely home is full of Scripture and scriptural principles and you may enjoy it for the adventure but you will also prosper spiritually by reading it.

I found this book to be very interesting. I think they did a good job of creating a background for Nicolae and how he came to be. It was a creepy beginning that fits what a creepy person he became. I enjoyed this part of the prequils much more than the other two.

I have read all three prequills to the left behind series and I found them very interesting. They answer a lot of questions about the characters in the "Left Behind" series. I found them a good read and they were not too long but you will want to read all three. I recomend them to anyone who has read or wants to read the "Left Behind" books. I do want to reread the first book in the series just to refresh my memories.
