REVIEW: This special collection contains bible stories from the popular radio series. I must admit that I wasn't sure if I wanted to get this because unfamiliar to the series, I thought it was the typical bible read-through stories. For some reason, I felt in my heart to give it a try and it was a great purchase. The stories are very good and I highly recommend this collection.

Editorial Review:

Can anything separate us from God's love? Does He really love us, no matter what?

How does He feel about me when I snap at anything that moves? When I've failed as a parent? When my thoughts are gutter-level? When my tongue is sharp? Have I drifted too far? Waited too long? Slipped too much? The answer is found in one of life's sweetest words--grace.

It is God who lovingly holds us in the eternal grip of His grace. Our good deeds won't help. Perfect performance is not required. The God who made us has redeemed us and covered our sinfulness with His righteousness. His holiness is sufficient for all our sin. And that's grace.

Best-selling author Max Lucado proclaims the grace of God to be the greatest discovery of my life. And he wants to share that discovery by taking us on a journey through the mountaintop truths found in Paul's letter to the Romans. Romans is the grandest treatise on grace ever written. You'll find the air fresh and the view clear.

This abridged edition of selected passages is well done. The readers express wonderful emotion. The translation is fresh and I was touched. This is a great supplemental resource for anyone who loves the Word of God. This tape left me wanting more! I recommend this audiotape highly.

Laying Out the Plan For Your Future 4 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Max Lucado brings out the beauty and everlasting Grace of God's Love for us giving His Son, Jesus Christ for humanity. On the final week of Jesus' life everything was set in place. If you had a short time left here on earth, and the end was near. What would you do? Would you set the most important matters into priority? If you knew what Jesus did, then remember these final days of His Life. He turned it over to the higher authority to sacrifice His own life so that you could Live-Eternally.

According to Matt. 20:28, the Son of Man did not come to be served. He came to serve others and to give His Life as a ransom for many people. Jesus set down the most important matters to be done before He went to the Cross. Those were His priorities. All the courage He set out to fulfill His purpose with passion and power-and you were included. Jesus seized the opportunity to save you the trouble of all life's trials. All we have to do is have the faith that He done it. God will do what it takes to bring His children home. He set you free of yesterday's guilt, fears, tomorrow's grave. The greatest miracle that God performed was the beauty of the Cross. The story continues to what God did to win your heart in Lucado's 'He Chose the Nails.'

(Every chapter is supported by study guides and scripture notes for indepth study.) Lucado never fails to teach us all the gifts that God has waiting for us to treasure. God's blessed him richly with the gift of teaching. May he continue on the journey. GOD BLESS!

Editorial Review:

This special edition by Lucado pictures Jesus' long-awaited final week on earth with clarity and insight. As the God-man faces His final days, note His conviction. Witness His courage. And see the heart of Christ.

Very enjoyable listening 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I have been a fan of the Left Behind Series, and I have read the books. I have also listened to several of the audio books on tape, but found that the level of interest was heightened on this new "experience in sound and drama" CD version. The use different voices and sound effects kept my attention. It is a very easy way to follow the story line. I have purchased more of these dramatizations and would recommend this version as either a first step to getting into the series or as another aid to those who are already Left Behind readers.

Editorial Review:

Rayford Steele and Cameron ("Buck") Williams find themselves pressed into service for the man they believe could be the Antichrist. Nicholae Carpathia takes over the United Nations, signs a peace treaty with Israel, and begins to lure the nations of earth together to form one global village. Meanwhile, the judgment of God begins to fall on the earth. Buck and Rayford, along with their pastor and Rayford's daughter, must fight to stay alive and battle the forces of evil in the strength of their fledgling, newfound faith.

Fans of the popular Left Behind series won't want to miss these exciting audio dramas. Each of the 12 half-hour segments focuses completely on the story and plot in Tribulation Force. This audio package will be aired on radio stations across the country but are also available as a retail package in CD and cassette formats. Professional radio drama actors and high production values combine to bring listeners a dynamic experience.

Readable? Not by me 1 out of 5 stars.
9 of 14 people found this review helpful.

This book was a real disappointment. Though I wasn't looking for a sensationalist approach to the topic, itwas dry, dry, dry. The fact that so many of the reviews I'd seen referred to it as "readable" should have been a red flag. Readable compared to what? An accounting textbook, perhaps, but nothing that one reads mostly for enjoyment. The author is obviously a good scholar, but not engaging, at least in this book.

Editorial Review:

"Though this biography is definitely unauthorized," Peter Stanford writes in his preface, "and the subject has not cooperated -- as far as I am aware -- I did at least manage to track down not one but three exorcists." We're used to seeing entertaining biographies of the famous, but here's something new: a very readable biography of the most infamous of all, the Devil himself. Peter Stanford presents a great amount of historical and scholarly material, yet manages to do so in a witty and highly intelligent style that keeps the reader turning the pages. From early Mesopotamia through the long history of Christianity, from medieval witch hunts to today's heavy metal rockers and Satanic cults, Stanford manages to, as he puts it, present a "very personal exploration of the highs and lows of the Devil's influence."

Only one other critical review?!!!! 1 out of 5 stars.
2 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I can't believe that this is the only review that doesn't give five stars! (I'm not counting the violently anti-Christian idiot who had problems with the actual Bible, not the translation.) This is absolutely the most stupid-sounding translation of the Bible that I have ever read; they went way too far in their attempts to make it readable. It's full of unnecessary exclamation points, for one thing. (Example: "Don't be afraid!" he said. "I bring you good news of great joy for everyone! The Savior-yes, the Messiah, the Lord-has been born tonight in Bethlehem the city of David! And this is how you will recognize him: You will find a baby lying in a manger, wrapped snugly in strips of cloth!-Luke 2:10-12)
See what I mean? That passage also demonstrates how thorougly this translation strips the Bible of its literary beauty. (If you watch "A Charlie Brown Christmas," you can hear how this passage was treated in the King James Version; it's absolutely beautiful! Of course, if you have a King James Bible, you could just read that.) If you want a contemporary-language bible, get The Message. It's not quite as gorgeous as the KJV, but it is way more readable, and it conveys more emotion than any other translation I know.
Oh, and if the violently anti-Christian idiot that I mentioned is reading this, I want to say something to them: If the best thing that you can think of doing is to go online and tell a bunch of Christians, Jews, and Muslims that they're all psycho murderers, maybe you need a therapist.

Editorial Review:

The Book is, of course, the Bible. Rather than offering a straightforward interpretation of the original Greek and Hebrew texts, Tyndale House Publishers has assembled an easy-to-reference volume, making it accessible to newcomers as well as scholars. In the front section, readers will find a selection of excerpts that speak to life's major issues and concerns, such as "Anger," "Discouragement," "Fear," and "Loneliness." The Book also includes excerpts that speak to relationships, such as love, friends, marriage, and parenthood. An opening section titled "Where Can I Find It?" lists where to locate favorite Bible stories, including "The Prodigal Son" and "The Golden Rule." It even has a reference section devoted to "Great Chapters from the Book," citing chapters such as "A Time for Everything," and "The Holy Spirit Comes." This is one of the most highly recommended and user-friendly bibles available.
