Good and Evil 4 out of 5 stars.

This was a very interesting novel based on forces of Good and Evil in spiritual conflict regarding Christianity vs A Universal Mind concept of humanity. Am now reading the second of the three in the series. Shows the struggle for power over humanity and the future of the human race.

Great Purchase! 5 out of 5 stars.

This was awesome, and it was such a bargain! It was way more than I ever expected!

The Battle RAGES in all of us!!! 5 out of 5 stars.

Intense, convicting, stark yet uplifting. This three pack is from one of the most prolific Christian writers around. Peretti weaves these tales masterfully and I can honestly say I've never read a story that was so action-packed yet so morally-sound all at once.

Peretti proves you don't have to have a lot of unnecessary violence and sex to tell a good story. He proves that THE FAITHFUL struggle between good and evil makes for the ultimate story.....

As soon as I make a dent in the rest of my reading list, this three pack is going right on the top of my "to be read AGAIN..." list!

Editorial Review:

This Present Darkness, Piercing the Darkness, and Prophet, three of Frank Peretti's best-selling works of fiction, are now available at the unbelievably low price of $18.97. All three pocket-sized paperback editions of Peretti's favorite spiritual thrillers are encased in a giftable slipcase and shrink-wrapped for easy display.

Editorial Review:

For years, Mitford's sixtysomething rector has been happily married to his parish. Now, he's also married to Cynthia, his vivacious next-door neighbor. For Father Tim, life in Mitford has never been so full of surprises. His wife is "aging" his already ancient kitchen walls, not to mention burning his draperies. The mountain boy he's learned to love as his own makes a heartrending decision. And the agony of mastering the church computer system is as boggling as the pandemonium that breaks loose when his quiet rectory becomes a nursery. All this, however, is small potatoes compared to what happens on a wilderness camping trip that sends him home a changed man.

In These High, Green Hills, Jan Karon takes her readers on a heartwarming—and hilarious—visit to Mitford, where her lovable characters always inspire laughter, tears, and fresh hope.

For more about the heartwarming town of Mitford, read At Home in Mitford and A Light in the Window, available at your local bookstore.

Jan Karon left a successful, award-winning career in advertising to write about characters drawn from her North Carolina childhood. She lives in a 1920's cottage with Bennie, an orange cat the size of a mobile home, and a dog named Rosie Potter.

Lauraine Snelling books 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I bought this book for my 94-year old mother as a continuation of the "Daughters of Blessing" series. She's read many books by Lauraine Snelling and has enjoyed them all because she can relate to the setting and the characters. Plus, they're Christian books that aren't too preachy.

Another wonderful daughter... 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This is a wonderful story...before you read it though, start with The Red River of the North and do the complete series. You won't be sorry. Lauraine Snelling does such a great job with the history weaving a story, of a wonderful Norweigein family and their faith in God, and their struggles with a new country. I hope there is a Daughters of Blessing #5, I'm looking forward to it.

Editorial Review:

Nineteen-year-old Rebecca Baard has experienced more than her share of sorrow, and now she is afraid to open her heart to love. Besides, no man has ever shown enough interest in her to come courting. So Rebecca's friends set out to remedy the situation, concocting social events to attract all the eligible bachelors in Blessing and advising her in the use of feminine wiles. When none of these efforts seem to work, Rebecca tries yet another tack, only to discover that even the best of intentions can't keep events from taking a surprising turn.

Will Rebecca overcome her fears, or will she settle for something less than love?

Hard to put down romantic historical 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This story had so much intrigue, suspense, peril, yearning, hope, and faith in the midst of trials that it truly inspired me. The faith journey was SO believeable. The pain they went through made a lot of sense, and I truly felt for them. My heart grieved right along with them. I found myself thinking about the story all the time until I could steal away and read more. That, to me, is the sign of a fabulous read.

I am a real sucker for romance, which is sprinkled generously throughout the book, too. Plus, the heartache and pain resulting from dysfunctional situations and sin is portrayed realistically. While not edgy in regards to the details, Ms. Austin did a magnificent job of making me care about their pain and showing how deeply they hurt. Yet she balance that by showing how that makes them love more deeply as well.

In my opinion Ms. Austin is one of the best historical fiction authors at putting her characters in impossible situations and showing how God provides a way in the midst of heartache. She shows how God allows it to make His children grow in faith, and that He is always there even if He doesn't always take away the hardship and pain. And He can transform even the hardest of hearts when people love Him and each other like the Scriptures say.

The relationship that Sophia developed with Ludwig was so amazing it took my breath away. I NEVER would've thought to draw out the character's faith and introduce them to true love through sharing God's Word the way the author managed to do. And to use the Bible as a tool to communicate between their languages was brilliant. This tender relationship was beautifully developed and one of my favorite parts of the story. It made my heart sing!

I can't say enough good things about this story. I'm definitely putting this book on my list of favorites for 2008!

Editorial Review:

Life in Sweden seems like an endless winter for three sisters after their mother's death and father's suicide. Elin feels the weight of responsibility for her sisters' welfare, and when circumstances become unbearable, she writes to her relatives in Chicago, pleading for help.

Joining sixteen million other immigrants who left their homelands for America between 1890 and 1920, Elin, Kirsten, and Sofia begin the long, difficult journey. Enduring the ocean voyage in steerage and detention on Ellis Island, their story is Americas story. And in a journey fraught with hardships, each woman will come to understand her secret longings and the meaning of home.

A real person 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

You can read the plot and story line in the comments and reviews, so I won't get into it. The most important addition I feel I can make here is to say that this book takes a "character" from the Bible and makes her real. Too often I forget that the people in the Bible lived, and that most were "ordinary" like us. I raise them up to lofty positions in my mind. This series has given a human aspect to the lives of women who simply loved God, and it can inspire us to make a difference in our own little world.

Good Characters 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I liked the characters in this book. I thought they were well formed and realistic. I was a little skeptical of the emotions displayed. People seemed to easily switch from one extreme to the other in short order, but considering that this entire story is recreated from a short story in the Bible and the rest is imagination, it was well done overall.

Editorial Review:

Book 2 in the Lineage of Grace series by best-selling author Francine Rivers. In her trademark style, Francine tells the compelling story of Rahab from the book of Joshua. Readers will gain a fresh understanding of God's work through the life of this unlikely woman in the lineage of Christ.

Return from Tomorrow. 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This is a fascinating real life-death account which I personally believe to be true. It gives great hope to those of us who are still alive and is a compelling and inspiring adventure.

fast reading book 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I was originally loaned this book by a friend who made great claims about it. I was hesitant because most of us have heard the experiences of those with near or real death and then come back to tell about it. One day I picked up the book and starting skimming through it to the part where the death experience occurs, I couldn't put it down! its totally different than all the others I've heard about. In fact, once I finished the book I immediately started over from the very beginning. I bought this book to loan out to others and to re-read myself, it can be read in a few hours.

Return From Tomorrow 5 out of 5 stars.

Excellent book for someone wanting to broaden his/her spiritual and religious base. It is a Christian book, but goes beyond traditional boundaries. The author discusses relationships with Jesus and God that are more personal and of more consequence that conventional teaching.

The Power of Thr3e 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This is a great book. It is suspenseful, action packed, frightening, and has more twists than a bread tie.
Kevin Parson receives a phone call on his cellphone and is instructed by the caller, a man named Slater, to either confess his sins to the world within three minutes or his car will explode. Kevin doesn't know what to do. Is this a prank call? What sin is the caller talking about? Kevin decides not to take a chance and finds a somewhat deserted parking lot to pull into. He gets out of his car and screams for people to get as far away as they can. Suddenly, his car explodes.
Kevin will be receiving several such phone calls and the consequences get more ugly each time.
The story flips back and forth from Kevin's childhood to the present. We meet people from his past that will come to his aid in the present and one person from the past who will be believed to be the culprit. Just when you have the story figured out, it takes a different twist and you are left scratching you head again. The last couple of chapters are fantastic, and while I figured it out, it didn't diminish the ending.
Pick up this one and give it a try, you will love it.

Editorial Review:

The award-winning, best-selling suspense masterwork, now a major motion picture event.

Enter a world where nothing is what it seems. Where your closest friend could be your greatest enemy.

Kevin Parson is alone in his car when his cell phone rings. A man calling himself Slater offers a deadly ultimatum: You have exactly three minutes to confess your sin to the world. Refuse, and the car you're driving will blow sky high. Then the phone goes dead.

Kevin panics. Who would make such a demand? What sin? Yet not sure what else to do, Kevin swerves into a parking lot and runs from his car. Just in case.

Precisely three minutes later, a massive explosion sets his world on a collision course with madness. And that's only the first move in this deadly game.

From the #1 best-selling fiction author comes a powerful story of good, evil, and all that lies between.

uggg...ridiculous 2 out of 5 stars.
5 of 7 people found this review helpful.

I'll keep this short and simple: This is the first (and probably last) Ted Dekker novel I've read. The book is horrible: the plot is ridiculous (and extremely implausible in the end), the characters are flat, and the narrative is amateurish...Anyone who gave this book 4 or 5 stars either didn't read the novel or will give 5 stars to a phone book.

Editorial Review:

A freak storm has spawned three tornadoes that are bearing down on the town of Summerville.

Yet under the cover of the storm looms a much more ominous threat: A vindictive killer known as Red who's left a string of victims in his wake and is now bent on exacting his final revenge on the unsuspecting town.

But there is an enigma surrounding Red that the FBI is unwilling to admit-closely guarded secrets of something gone terribly wrong beneath the skin of Summerville. Secrets that will destroy far more than one small town.

Wendy Davidson is caught in the middle. She's a recovering cult survivor who takes refuge in Summerville on her way to visit her estranged mother. And with her, four strangers, any of whom could be the next victim . . . or the killer.
