John Hagee does not always follow the bible, but interprets it to suit his own motivations.

Don't Waste Your Money 1 out of 5 stars.

First of all I got this book from my public library. There are several things wrong with this book. 1. God is not a Republican, nor is He a Democrat. 2. Armageddon or Har-Magedon is God's war upon all nations.(Dan. 2:44) 3. Har-Magedon is not a nuclear war between mankind's nations. 4. The United States nor any other nation can not stop Har-Magedon. 5. There is no such place as hell fire. The Hebrew word sheol and Greek word Hades translated hell in some Bibles is the common grave of mankind. That is the death inherited from Adam.(Eccl. 9:5,10; Psa.146:4; Eze. 18:4) The Greek word gehenna means everlasting destruction.(Matt. 10:28)The lake of fire in Revelation is symbolic of eternal destruction.(Rev. 20:10,14) v. 14 explains :this means the second death which means everlasting destruction.Death & Hades are thrown there. Are Death & Hades concious beings that can suffer eternally? 6. Since Pentecost 33 C.E. God has been using the Christian congregation, Not the nation of Israel or any of man's governments.( Acts 2:22-36;Phil.2: 9-11) If you want accurate information see Jehovah's Witnesses.

Editorial Review:

This highly anticipated audio version on CD of John Hagee's best selling updated edition of Jerusalem Countdown, unveils the reasons radical Islam and Israel cannot dwell peaceably together. Dr. Hagee paints a convincing picture explaining why Christians must support the State of Israel by saying, Those nations who align with God's purpose will receive His blessing. Those who follow a policy of opposition to God's purpose will receive the swift and severe judgement of God without limitation. Can anyone actually believe that the Islamic fanatics presently in charge of the Iranian government would not use nuclear weapons on Israel, America, and the World?

Editorial Review:

Why should you care about Israel? With the war in Iraq, possible engagement in Iran, and an imminent presidential election, U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East and the issue of solidarity with Israel remain important.

In Two Nations Under God, American missionary Tom Doyle presents even greater reasons why the U.S. should show concern for Israel. Part one, “Why Should America Care?” is a biblical and historical primer on Israel with fascinating insights into connections between American and Middle East culture. Part two, “Sorting Out the Middle East Maze,” presents more facts about Islam and the spiritual roots behind the Middle East conflicts. Part three, “Maximizing the Moment,” is a call to action and prayer for the A merican church regarding the future of Israel.

Best of all, readers will learn throughout that, despite the headlines, there is plenty of good news coming from the Middle East. Doyle reports on the increasing number of Muslims converting to Christianity, profiles local disciples and church planters, and provides helpful timelines, comparison charts, photographs, and more to keep every detail concerning Israel in perspective.

Endorsements:

"Chaos. Carnage. Confusion. For many, that’s the modern Middle East. But Tom Doyle gets it. Better yet, he can really explain it. With a pastor’s heart, he clearly and concisely describes why God loves the Jews of Israel and her Muslim neighbors, and why we should, too. What’s more, Tom reveals how powerfully God is moving in the modern Middle East, and how we can join Him. Two Nations under God is a must read—fascinating, insightful, and deeply thought-provoking. Get one for yourself, and another for your pastor."

Things to Come Still Relevant 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This interesting book on Bible Eschatology makes for good reading and study. Written some years ago, it is still a monumental work for student and professional alike. Recommended.

Unquestionably the most comprehensive study of Bible prophecy available today! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

In his ground-breaking 1948 work on Systematic Theology, Dr. Lewis Sperry Chafer (then President of Dallas Theological Seminary) wrote concerning Eschatology, "It is assuredly the desire of God that His own who are in the world shall know what He is going to do." Ten years later, Dr. J. Dwight Pentecost (also of Dallas Theological Seminary) carried forward Chafer's passion for illuminating biblical prophecy by writing Things To Come, the book that is still accepted by many conservative, evangelical scholars as the most comprehensive, systematically detailed, doctrinally sound study of Eschatology available today.

As did Chafer, Pentecost bases his teachings on a literal (grammatical-historical) interpretation of Bible Scriptures. Preceding the body of his work with an entire section explaining the "allegorical" and "literal" methods of interpretation, Chafer then covers the entire field of prophecy from the Abrahamic covenant in Genesis to the "new heavens and new earth" in Revelation. The strength of his work lies in his ability to clarify the differences in God's plans for Israel and her future kingdom on earth and His plans for the Church, which will reside in Heaven.

Although not a book for lazy-minded prophecy faddists, any serious student of Eschatology should have this book in his or her personal library.

Edwin Scroggins is the author of Bible Prophecy in a Nutshell: A Mini-Survey of God's Great Plan of the Ages

Editorial Review:

An encyclopedic reference work on biblical prophecy, this highly successful book explores the basis of interpretation, biblical covenants, prophecies of this age and its end, the tribulation, the second advent, the millennium, and the eternal state. Includes an extensive bibliography and index.

Seek first the Kingdom... 5 out of 5 stars.
7 of 7 people found this review helpful.

The phrase "Kingdom of God" or "Kingdom of Heaven" is in the gospels some 84 times; compared to the word "cross", which only appears 17 times, and "gospel" or "good news", which only appears 23 times. The Kingdom of God was the central message of Jesus. This book brings the message to life through it's examination of the topic, and--even though it's a theology book--presents the material in a very clear, readable way. I can honestly say that this book has brought a fresh understanding of God's will and purposes to my Christian walk. Of all the Christian books I've read, this one definitely makes my top 10 list.

Good Introduction to the Gospel of the Kingdom 4 out of 5 stars.
6 of 7 people found this review helpful.

This book should be read by all those wanting a good understanding of the Kingdom of God and the contents of the Gospel. Ladd's thesis is that the coming of Christ was the fulfillment of Israel's hopes for a Kingdom of power and glory. Jesus himself was the hope that the Israelites were looking for. The Kingdom wasn't a socio-political entity to put on earth during the first century but the spiritual reformation of those who became members of the Kingdom. The only problem I have with this book is that Ladd's view of the Gospel borders on works-salvation since he puts a lot of emphasis on the judgment theme. Overall, though, a good book for those trying to get a good understanding of the Kingdom of God.

Editorial Review:

George Eldon Ladd presents a practical and devotional scriptural study of the many aspects of the kingdom, based on the parables, the Sermon on the Mount, and other key passages.

The Real Jesus Faith 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 2 people found this review helpful.

On the basis of excellent New Testament scholarship and with a passion for the Way, the Truth, and the Life that is Jesus, Barbara Rossing exposes the perverse heresy of "rapture theology" and particularly the marketing racket that is the "Left Behind" series of books. Written in a style that is accessible to most all readers, Dr. Rossing helps open the reader's eyes to see the vision of the peace-loving, peace-making Lamb that reigns and the reader's ears to hear the song of the faithful witnesses (martyrs) who follow in the world-transforming Way of the Lamb.

Editorial Review:

With a new introduction and new readers study guide by the author

The idea of "The Rapture"-the return of Christ to rescue and deliver Christians off the earth-is an extremely popular interpretation of the Bible's Book of Revelation and a jumping-off point for the best-selling "Left Behind" series of books. This interpretation, based on a psychology of fear and destruction, guides the daily acts of thousands if not millions of people worldwide. In The Rapture Exposed, Barbara Rossing argues that this script for the world's future is nothing more than a disingenuous distortion of the Bible. The truth, Rossing argues, is that Revelation offers a vision of God's healing love for the world. The Rapture Exposed reclaims Christianity from fundamentalists' destructive reading of the biblical story and back into God's beloved community.

Read this BEFORE you lose someone. 3 out of 5 stars.
14 of 14 people found this review helpful.

Billy Graham takes a gentle yet uplifting look at death, loss and the afterlife, offering biblical advice and insight into this process we all must face at one point. Sadly I have had to face it sooner than I ever ever thought I would have to when I lost my wife of twelve years to liver failure in September of 2003. Reading this book after the fact offers little help or solace with my grief and one should really read it before facing the supposed Great Unknown. This is an ounce of prevention, what I am in need of is a few pounds of cure. Perhaps a re-reading of A Grief Observed by C.S. Lewis is in order. Nonetheless, I recommend it.

An important book for all Christians to read 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is not about the hereafter in the sense that it doesn't go into extreme detail as to what life will be like in the hereafter and then from there, to the New Heavens and the New Earth. For that sort of details account and examination, always within a literal Biblical point of view, I would suggest Alcorn's Heaven. This book, another masterfully explored book by Billy Graham, focuses on the here and now in such a way as to examining out outlook toward that day when we die (or even better, thank the Lord, when He comes and Raptures the church). What does it mean in this, now, 21st century to live and to die? What are we to make of the culture of death that we see in the media and across the United States--from the tragedy of the late Ms. Shiavo to abortion on demand and on to euthanasia for our elderly for any old cause or reason? Basically such deaths come about because they are convenient, not based on literal Christian point of view toward the meaning of life and the dignity of dying and death. Graham asks and uses the Bible to answer questions such as "what does it mean to die as a Christian" verses "what does it mean to die without hope" (i.e. without Jesus Christ in your life as your Savior and King). For those who are dying with Jesus as the Savior, as examined by Graham, there is peace even if the death is in the face of persecution by those who do not see the light. For those who are dying without, well, there is only a slow decline into darkness, as Graham explains using the truth of the Bible. Thus, Mr. Graham is not afraid to ask questions nor is he afraid to look for answers through the written words of the Lord and through those He has touched through the ages to be His messengers, great and small. I would suggest anyone to take this book and seriously read it, examine what it has to say about death, dying, and eternity...work it into reading such books as Deadline and Heaven by Randy Alcorn...and really then falling on your hands and knees for a true talk with the Lord. Here and now you need to understand the eternal truths of living and dying and eternity. Graham points the way for the reader to go on and to use the Bible so that it shows the reader the foundations of truth and of forever.

Editorial Review:

Our culture trains us to prepare for almost everything but death. How can we know what awaits us beyond this life? In this provocative book, Billy Graham answers many questions about the process of dying and about life after death. Practical and poignant, Graham offers peace and assurance for facing our final days on earth.

Useful Text / Big Picture Perspective 4 out of 5 stars.
8 of 10 people found this review helpful.

This book came as required reading for a class in graduate school and helped reveal the overarching messages in the book of revelation. This book has been one that has perplexed me since I was a young believer. Is this book to be taken literally? Is the book figurative? Is it somewhere in-between? Bauckham falls into a general examination of the book, looking at the genre, the big issues, the themes, and specific issues that scholars debate in all circles. This book is not an exegetical painful process, rather a good look at the big picture of revelation. How should we apply it today? Are we afraid that we will be 'left behind?' Thank goodness Tim Lahaye made a DVD for those people who will be 'left behind.' Anyway, on a more serious note, this book is a great introduction to the book of Revelation and will help almost anyone get around the book without feeling overwhelmed or lost. Highly Recommended - Joseph Dworak

Editorial Review:

Richard Bauckham expounds the theology of the Book of Revelation: its understanding of God, Christ and the Spirit, the role of the Church in the world, and the hope of the coming of God's universal kingdom. Close attention is paid both to the literary form in which the theology is expressed and to the original context to which the book was addressed. Contrary to many misunderstandings of Revelation, it is shown to be one of the masterpieces of early Christian literature, with much to say to the Church today. This study offers a unique account of the theology and message of Revelation.

Good Golly Miss Molly!!! 2 out of 5 stars.
4 of 5 people found this review helpful.

I've awarded this book 2 stars on the basis of the major effort of the author's arithmetic calculations. Otherwise I would have been forced to rate it lower. The author's conclusions are muddled. He seems to confuse the relatively common gravitational shifts with the far, far less common axis shift. An axis shift, to be certain, would probably be quite impressive but a gravitational axis shift, less so.

Just as bad, despite the author's dire prediction of a near total apocalypse, he goes on merrily to discuss ideal menus for the survivors. He's big into kiwi fruit, baked bannanas, orange juice, avocados and multiple other vegetarian delicacies. This is certainly confusing. If his scenario is even ten percent correct the rare survivors will be lucky to get the occasional moldy potato or skinny rat.

Also, it will be very important to properly train the young survivors in this Hell turned Utopia. It will be very important that they are taught not to make the same mistakes that led to the catastrophe that destroyed the earth [????]. This is truly confusing because earlier the author indicates that the 2012 world shattering catastrophe is entirely the product of irreversible natural phenomena.

Fortunately, we don't have long to wait to verify the author's calculations. I'm counting down and I'm overjoyed that I'm in South Africa where I can climb into the Drakensburg [ideal location] to wait out the destruction of the rest of the earth. Then again, the author alternatively suggested that an indestructible yacht might be an even better idea. Maybe I can suggest a third choice: Build an indestructible yacht loaded with kiwi fruit and bannanas, and moor it high in the Drakensburg. Perfect.

Editorial Review:

Prepare and prevail in the End of Times After 2012! In his previous books, Patrick Geryl presented a detailed scenario set to take place in the year 2012: the complete and utter destruction which has occurred in Earth’s past and will occur again. The sun’s magnetic poles sometimes reverse, causing massive solar flares that lash out into the solar system. These disrupt the Earth’s magnetic field and reverse the Earth’s magnetic poles' rotational direction. The Earth’s outer crust will be thrown into chaos, with planet-wide earthquakes, volcanoes and tidal waves reshaping landmasses and seas in a matter of hours. Civilization as we know it will end as very few humans will survive. But the obstacles are not insurmountable. Here is a blueprint to survive the disaster. Geryl explains in detail the myriad problems survivors will encounter, and the precautions that need to be taken to overcome them.

While I felt that the Flowers in the Attic was a excellent book, I feel that the Casteel series is overall the best. I have read this book 7 or 8 times, and I never get tired of it. And this book is only the beginning of a excellent series, so if you're looking to spend a good amount of hours reading something wonderful, then start with Heaven!

I despised the character of Cal. Could there be a more creepy guy to take Heaven in? *shudder*
