So much of the reviews here are based on the Christian Scientists defending it and those against CS railing against it.

I was born in CS so that might make many people stop reading here since all they want to hear is how evil this book is. My attempt here is to, as unbiasedly as I can, review this book.

It's hard to read (On the plus side, it's good for learning SAT words). Mary Baker Eddy switches person tense from, "The founder", to "I", and everything in between. Like any textbook, it belabors the point multiple times. There are also very interesting points brought up that I had never thought of.

What this book is, first and foremost, is something to study and question. It is not a reworded Bible for Christian Scientists nor is it our medicine to heal our every ailment. In fact, in my most dire circumstances I don't think about the Science & Health. I do use what ideas it has said and my own personal experience to help. What it essentially comes down to is reading, questioning, and personal choice.

Author Way Ahead of Her Time - Fortunately for Us 5 out of 5 stars.

The author, Mary Baker Eddy, was far ahead of her time in what she not only understood about God and mankind, but what she accomplished as a woman over 100 years ago. Other authors have attempted to discuss such ideas as what is real, what is illusion, what is God, Life, Truth, evil, good, etc. but have fallen short in the consistancy of their reasoning and conclusions. I find no contradictions here, only inspired thinking. I have actually had healings as a result of reading this book, and I recommend it to others regardless of religious affiliation.

This is the original and preeminent book on spiritual healing. can and will heal the reader just as the study of it has healed millions of every known ill of mankind. the last 100 pages are testimonies of people healed through the perusal of this book-everything ranging from sickness disease blindness economic problems different forms of sin etc. This book has not only enabled people to understand their true relationship to God but by doing so has enabled them to heal others even to the extent that the dead have been raised back to life.

inspiring - whether reading or singing! 5 out of 5 stars.

I'm not much of a musician but I do like to sing. And I love to read. Many times, I've sat down with this hymnal and simply *read* the lyrics and have found them to be deep reservoirs of inspiration and spiritual insights.

Yeah, the hymns are old and they're from the Victorian era and the lyrics are clearly reminiscent of that time, but they're still beautiful and touching. For instance, there was someone in my life that I felt I had every reason to hate, but being a Christian, I knew that hating any of God's children was wrong and was not part of God's plan for my life.

One of my favorite hymns in this book reads,

"Speak gently to the erring ones,
they must have toiled in vain;
Perhaps unkindness made them so,
Oh win them back again."

That simple sentiment has helped me release the animous and contempt I feel toward this person and reminds me to pray for her each day and ask God to send her nothing but blessings.

I highly recommend this hymnal.

this book changed my life experience for the betterbeyond words. It showed me how Jesus healed and how i could apply the priciples of divine healing to my understanding and daily life. i heartily recomend this book to all who are searching for happiness and blessing. this book gives one acess to unlimited practical workabe , healing TRUTH.

I have owned several copies of the Hymnal, and keep giving them away and buying a new one. I love the lyrics and find them inspirational at all times, and especially in times of trouble. Hightly recommended.
