I have recommended and/or given this book to many, many friends over the years since I first read it. I give it with a caveat: You must have a soft heart toward the Lord and a listening ear for what He will tell you as you read it. It is like no other book as it tells the allegorical tale of Much Afraid and her special traveling companions as she is lead to escape the dismal, loathsome valley she was born to. She encounters many trials and tribulations on her transforming journey -- but Help is ever present, even in the darkest times . . . and the end of the book -- a new beginning. Highly recommend this book!

Good book, a little thin in spots 3 out of 5 stars.

The Bible Answer Book by Hank Hanegraaff (also known as The Bible Answer Man) is solid in it's approach because it gives a lot of different answers to commonly asked questions in multiple areas. My main issue with the book (as one reviewer already mentioned) is that it falls short on substance in spots, and that left me a little disappointed more than once.

The Good: This book is great in that it tackles a lot of common questions such as: What must I do to be saved? Can a Christian lose their salvation? Did demons have sexual relations with women in Genesis 6:4? Plus what I enjoyed the most was his small section on Muslims. Hanegraaff States,

" While muslims readily affirm the sinlessness of Christ, they adamantly deny His sacrifice upon the cross and subsequent resurrection. In doing so, they deny the singular historic fact which demonstrates that Jesus does not stand in a long line of peers from Abraham to Muhammad, but is God in the flesh."

He goes on to add further insights into Muslim beliefs when Hanegraaff states, "In recent years, the myth that Judas was crucified in place of Jesus has been popularized in Muslim circles by a late midevil invention titled The Gospel Of Barnabas." Hanegraaff has added much to my understanding of Muslim beliefs.

The Bad: To say that I don't agree with all his theology goes without saying. However, I really felt on more than one subject he gave you a taste of truth just to not follow throught on the concept. I know he was probably trying to keep this book short and to the point. However, I feel he did his readers a diservice by not following through on the concept on more than one occasion. Still this is a solid book, and one I will use as a reference.

First of all I got this book from my public library. There are several things wrong with this book. 1. God is not a Republican, nor is He a Democrat. 2. Armageddon or Har-Magedon is God's war upon all nations.(Dan. 2:44) 3. Har-Magedon is not a nuclear war between mankind's nations. 4. The United States nor any other nation can not stop Har-Magedon. 5. There is no such place as hell fire. The Hebrew word sheol and Greek word Hades translated hell in some Bibles is the common grave of mankind. That is the death inherited from Adam.(Eccl. 9:5,10; Psa.146:4; Eze. 18:4) The Greek word gehenna means everlasting destruction.(Matt. 10:28)The lake of fire in Revelation is symbolic of eternal destruction.(Rev. 20:10,14) v. 14 explains :this means the second death which means everlasting destruction.Death & Hades are thrown there. Are Death & Hades concious beings that can suffer eternally? 6. Since Pentecost 33 C.E. God has been using the Christian congregation, Not the nation of Israel or any of man's governments.( Acts 2:22-36;Phil.2: 9-11) If you want accurate information see Jehovah's Witnesses.

Fruits of the Spirit part is excellent 5 out of 5 stars.

Half of this book is a direct sequel to Hinds Feet on High Places - it is told in story format, with the same characters as that book. I like it very much. However my favorite part by far is the corresponding chapters on the fruits of the Spirit, and I often go back and read them. In each one the King takes Grace and Glory to a new mountain of a ring of nine, each representing a different fruit of the Spirit & teaching it by comparison with spices listed in Song of Songs (or someplace). She describes how that plant corresponds to that Spirit, and He teaches her about it. Then she goes down into the Valley for the days work. He teacher her a song for each one. One of my favorites is something like this:

Love must give and give and give
Love must die or share
Only then can true love live
Fruitful everywhere.
(from Gentleness I think, also the following:)
'The King and Grace and Glory came, just before sunrise, to the Mountain of Calamus, where the spices of gentleness were cultivated...she stood still in delighted surprise, for stretching before her were fields of slender reeds, swaying in the breeze and tossing lightly in rhythmical motion like waves on a slightly rolling sea...

He pointed out to her the exquisite grace and lovely, unresisting meekness with which they bowed themselves before the wind, sometimes right to the ground, only to sweep upward again without effort when the wind had passed over them...

'They know how to be abased and how to be exalted' ..she realized that the lovely fragrance that exuded from them and which men call gentleness, sympathy and loving understanding was developed by the daily practice of bending submissively to life's difficult circumstances without bitterness, resent or self-pity.'

etc. etc. etc. It's really quite good.
I've had this book for fifteen years and still go back and read the fruits of the spirit parts regularly (as God seems to be teaching me about that fruit!) It was originally published in 1977 - not many books stay in print for thirty years.

This book is a life-changer! If I could I would give more than a 5 star rating! The insights pierce straight into the heart of humankind! Anyone who reads this book will see themselves in one character or another and discover the way to live life with The Great Shepherd on the heights and in the valleys! An added bonus is the womens devotional throughout the book with room for notes!

Only Hank Hanegraaff can tell it like it is, not only through his opinion but through documented facts. He has lead me, my family and friends through the reality of what these questions are all about, he has answered them correctly, acuratley, to the point, and with out doubts. When ever I have a question about anything I may be having trouble answering he has always come forth with the knowledge of a true scholar. I whole heartedly recommend this book not just for the purchaser, but to pass it on to others, that like wise are searching for the absolute truth.

Cynthia's Heald's books "Becoming a woman of..." books are excellent for any woman, whether you are just starting to read the Bible or have read it 10 times. Cynthia's writing style was truly impressive to me. Each chapter starts with a reflective Bible verse and an exerpt from a Christian author or speaker. Then it gives you three or four different verses to look up in the Bible, sections to write your notes, and then a section with the Author's reflection on the concept of the chapter. The chapters increase in complexity, each more challenging as you go on through the book.

I am a huge fan of Cynthia Heald, and was excited to find this devotional. I spend time each day engaging in devotion and Bible study, but often find that I have trouble coming up with the words for prayer. I sometimes feel like the prayers are rehearsed and repeats of the day before, so I was eager to jump into this study: I was not disappointed! Ms. Heald shares some really great thoughts on prayer from various authors, as well as her own thoughts and ideas, that bring a new meaning to the intimate act of prayer. I feel that my prayer life has been enriched by this devotional. The only reason that I only gave it 4 stars is because I just finished "Becoming A Woman of Grace," which I rated 5 stars, and although I loved this book and reccommend it to anyone who enjoys daily devotionals, the latter is hard to beat.

Whether it's the 'Left Behind' series, (such a charming title), or 'Countdown to Doomsday' or any of the other blood and thunder books, you can count on one thing: God is mad as hell at all of us, (except the 'chosen') and is going to unleash a fury against his archenemy Satan. The great cosmic battle will be played out at Armeggedon where Satan and God will will duke it out in front of the whole world. Well, most of the world. The elect will be taken by rapture into Heaven safely ensconced away from the raging, bloody battle.

Eventually, most of the world will be tossed into a flaming, eternal pit of torture for an eternity, while the saved get to look down on the agony of the unsaved and stick their tongues out: nyah-nyah! I just wonder if when Hagee sees Christ he will yell JJJJEEEEEEZSZZZZUUUUUUUSSS like he does on television.

And all this mind you, in the name of the Prince of Peace.

Why is the Middle East in such turmoil? Is the modern State of Israel in the plan of God? Can and should Christians do more than pray for Israel? Does God's Word contain instructions to Christians regarding the treatment of Jewish people? In the near-thirty years John Hagee has been a lover of Israel, he has grappled with each of these questions.
