The CSX Clinchfield Route, for Clinchfield fans only only 1 out of 5 stars.

Unless you are a fan of the Clinchfield, AND a seasoned railroad fan, this lovely photographed volume may be lost on you. It was me. Most pictures are of 2 CSX grey/blue/yellow engines pulling cars of coal, as on the cover. A fair amount of unexplained railroad speak left me wondering, and tantalizing notions of rotary couplers, bottom dumps, or rotating car in action never shown nor explained. The author and photographer did a marvelous job with what they had to work with, but it appears this volume belongs with a series designed for the professional railroad man or highly knowlegable fan

CSX's Clinchfield Railroad follows one of the most scenic routes in America and runs through the most rugged mountain barriers in the eastern United States. More than 3,000 labourers built the Clinchfield, using construction standards unheard of at the time. The railroad was finished in 1915 when George Carter, the driving force who put it all together, hammered in the last spike. Because of its enduring innovative construction, engineers have yet to enlarge its tunnels or strengthen its bridges. In its heyday, the Clinchfield was not well known outside its territory, but its history, including its genesis and challenging assembly, has fascinated railfans for years. Jerry Taylor and Ray Poteat take us on a mile-by-mile trip through the tunnels and over the bridges of the Clinchfield's route in their fascinating portrayal of this railroad's current operations.

Taylor's book is EXCELLENT 5 out of 5 stars.

For anyone who is interested in what it means to work with their dreams, for anyone who would like to know WHY it is useful to do this, Taylor's book is an excellent place to begin. He takes you through all the basic questions, including hints to improve dream recall (for those of us who insist we can't remember what we've dreamed in the night), all the way through various aspects of what various elements in our dreams are likely to mean. He also looks at how the knowledge gained through dream analysis may be applied our waking lives.

Taylor's book is the best introduction to dreamwork one can find on the market. The author writes out of a Jungian/Depth psychology perspective. Every page is filled with psycho-spiritual insight. This book provides useful tips on how to take on this rather large subject, recognizing as it does that "dreams come at the service of health and healing." If you have often wanted to reconcile your life choices with your unconcious, by aligning both with your actions this book is for you. But by doing so, spiritual unification may be the results of your efforts; in this sense, this book is a must read. The author notes that the dream state not only provides healing when we actively listen to the language in our dream states, but opens deeper levels of insight into collective, personal, and future events. Great book in my view!

Universal, archetypal dream symbols lovingly explored 5 out of 5 stars.

Jeremy Taylor's first two books, DREAM WORK, and WHERE PEOPLE FLY AND WATER RUNS UP HILL, (q.v.) are brilliant introductions to exploring dreams with an eye to their deeper meanings. Both books offer insights that empower individual dreamers to look more deeply into their own dreaming experience and find more of the MULTIPLE MEANINGS that inhere in every dream - (even the tiniest fugitive fragments.) These books deal with forming on-going, lay-led dream groups, as well as working with one's dreams in solitude. LIVING LABYRINTH takes this self-empowerment dream work process one step further, encouraging dreamers to seek the "aha!" of meaning not only in the personal layers of significance in their dreams, but also in the transpersonal, archetypal symbols and metaphors that always appear in our dreams. This book is a great photographic representation of Trinidad and Tobago. It completely draws you in. Definitely a book I will keep forever.

It would have been nice to have an inexpensive paperback edition of -Holy Living-, suitable for the uses of both those who read it as a devotional manual and as a masterpiece of English literature.

Unfortunately, this is not it. The text has been "modernised" and "updated" so that large passages of it are no longer recognisable as being in Jeremy Taylor's inimitable literary style. Devotional readers who cannot handle Taylor in the original may find it useful. Admirers of Taylor's poetic diction would be better served by the selections in the -Classics of Western Spirituality- edition. Still, I cannot help but imagine that even those who look at this book as nothing more than a tract would be more improved by it if they also took the time to learn to read it in complete sentences. If you can read the Authorised Version of the Bible, you can read Jeremy Taylor straight.

Given the editing done here, it is perhaps fortunate that the companion volume (-Holy Dying-) is not also presented in this manner.
