"The Heart of Christmas" employs the writing talents of six inspirational authors, with the message they would most like people to learn and see at Christmastime. John Maxwell relates the wise men following the star and finding a lowly stable, to our search for greatness and finding instead disappointment, in our lives. He allows us to understand that we can find God even in our lowest moments. Bill Hybels challenges us to really look at the nativity, and God's purpose for choosing the location of the Christ-child, this season. Hybels parallels the nativity to our relationship with God. Max Lucado ponders what Joseph's thoughts were on that wonderful night and how we oft-times questions God ourselves. David Jeremiah writes about the name and significance of Jesus, the reasons God may have chosen to give his only son that common, yet most revered name. Rick Warren encourages us to seek that which we want to find this year. He gives us special insight and tells us what we should really be seeking for. Jack Hayford examines the Mary Miracle, as he calls it. He shows us how God is still "birthing" his holy word in us, today. If you are like me, growing weary with all the hype and stress of Christmas as society defines it, year after un-inspirational year, this is a book that will offer you a new vision and understanding of this wonderful holiday. It will put Christmas back into your heart so that it may shine forth, just like the star that marked Jesus' birth.

An Inspiration to Church's of Any Size 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is long on analysis and full of helpful lessons that any church can apply regardless of size. You could spend several months and thousands of dollars visiting the fastest growing churches in America and trying to gather what they've learned OR you can spend a few bucks and get it all in this book. Reading this book will challenge your assumptions and leave you inspired about the tremendous potential of the local church, including yours.

Big talk about little book 1 out of 5 stars.

I really did not like the way he used so many bible translations, most all scripture was way off what king james version says. It sounds good, until you compair with a very reliable and correct version. For instance on page 237 it sounds very uplifting, but very misleading (to the point of being false doctrine). Its says "Impulsive, weak-willed Peter became "a rock" Matthew 16:18). This totally turned my stomach and made me want to throw out this false doctrine. In the bible (KJV) Jesus said "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." This does not mean anything close to what is said on page 237. Christ was saying he will build his church in which Jesus Christ is the cornerstone; not Peter the little pebble. Hence the meaning of "The Church of Christ" and "Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you." Romans 16:16. Also in this whole review "2 timothy 3:16" comes into play.

My church has used the outline of this program for 3 years and it is totally amazing. This program has helped many people come to grips with their addictions, whether it be drugs, alcohol, or co-dependency. This program has touched many and help to change their direction in life through its study plan.

Rick Warren opens his heart and shares what he went through to plant the Saddleback Valley church. He tells us what are the myths of growing churches and how to break them. Would you like your church to become a purpose driven church? You'll find in this book the five biblical purposes of a New Testament church, and you can find them in the Great Commision and the Great Commandment. Rick shares that Evangelism, Discipleship, Felloship, Ministry and Worship can help your church grow when you apply them on purpose. Then we can reach out to our community and share the gospel with them. By finding out who is our target, knowing whom we can best reach, and developing a strategy we can have a better outreach ministry. This book is a must read for all persons interested in seeing their church and ministry become more effective and fruitful. You can have both quality and quantity. Why?
