It was pretty good... 4 out of 5 stars.

After reading the 1st book in this new series, Cassidy, I was really disappointed. So, I didn't expect much from Sabrina. But it was a pleasant surprise. It was a really good story. I got to know and love the characters and right of the bat I was able to bond with them and care about them. It was a really good read and I felt like I certainly learned a lot from it and got a lot out of it. The only thing is I'm not terribly fond of the multiple unrelated conversations style of writing, but other than that, it was excellent.

Editorial Review:

From bestselling author Lori Wick comes the moving second book in the Big Sky Dreams series. Sabrina Matthews, a young prostitute in the rough frontier city of Denver, is befriended by a police officer and his wife. Because of their kindness, she listens to what they have to say about Jesus and believes in Him.

Sabrina stays with Danny and Callie until she’s ready to make a fresh start in a new town. She boards the train for the long trip to Token Creek in Montana Territory, where she meets Jeanette Fulbright and is befriended by the church family and many of the townsfolk there.

All is well until she finds herself falling for Pastor Rylan Jarvik, who has begun to care for her as well. Will she be able to tell him about her past? How will Rylan respond? A moving novel about past mistakes and forgiveness—both from God and people.

Oh so boring... 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I came to love Lori Wick about ten years ago when I first read "The Princess". I read and enjoyed many of her books after that, but lately, I've been continually disappointed. They're all the same! Predictable, boring, goody-goody, and unintelligent. I seriously feel as though I'm dumbing myself down to read them. The characters are so unrealistic...sugary sweet and unbelievably wholesome. Real Christians aren't like that 100% of the time. I prefer a more relatable character (like in "Pretense" for example). I feel like I'm experiencing deja-vu with every Lori Wick novel now. Is there no Christian "romance" writer who can tell an intelligent, thought-provoking, relatable story with complex characters and a moving plot? It doesn't have to be perfect, Lori, but it's time to explore a new formula. PLEASE!

Editorial Review:

Following the success of her recent stand–alone novel, White Chocolate Moments, bestselling author Lori Wick returns to delight readers with a new series set in the vast open places of Montana.

Token Creek, Montana Territory, 1880—Cassidy Norton is a fine seamstress who makes her living sewing for others. Amid the bustle of a busy frontier town, her life is rich. What time her business doesn’t take, her friends and church family fill. But Cassidy hasn’t always lived in Token Creek, and few people know her full story. So she struggles with a nagging unsettledness in her heart.

Cassidy’s friend Meg is married to a rancher and has a baby, something Cassidy wants for herself. But that would mean revealing the details of her life. Will Cassidy find the strength to take that risk?

Book 1 in the Big Sky Dreams series.

HILARIOUS! 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

This book is so poorly written that it's actually extremely funny - my sisters and I have garnered hours of fun from reading it aloud to each other to shrieks of mirth. That said, I have re-read it numerous times and genuinely enjoy the story each time. Lori Wick has a knack of making the reader care about her characters which transcends her incredulous plots and terrible prose. I mean, yes, it's completely ridiculous to imagine that anyone in real life could be as *perfect* as Shelby, but I can't help liking her anyway. It comforts me to pretend, for a few hours at least, that a world exists where nobody bears the royal family of a small pseudo-European country ANY ill-will and there is no such thing as a dissatisfied citizen. The characters seem to have nothing to do except have banal conversations and bake cookies, but don't get annoyed by the lack of realism! Just let go of your cynicism and enjoy the dream.

Editorial Review:

Now with a new cover, Lori Wick’s bestselling contemporary love story The Princess (over 200,000 copies sold) will reach even more readers.

In the Land of Pendaran, Shelby Parker lives a humble but good life. Her special qualities are eventually noticed by the king and queen of the House of Markham, who seek a new wife for their widowed son, Prince Nikolai.

To uphold the tradition of their country, Shelby and Nikolai agree to an arranged marriage. But while Nikolai is a perfect gentleman in public, he remains distant at home, leaving Shelby to wonder what is in his heart. Will the prince ever love her as he did his first wife? Can the faith they share overcome the barriers between them?

For all romantics at heart 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

The Long Road Home is a great book for evey romantic at heart. The novel leads readers down a path of adventure and bitter heartbreak. I really enjoyed this novel; many times I had to force myself to put it down! The Bible verses and the characters' faith in God throughout the entire novel were of great encouragement to me. No matter what the circumstance the two characters remain steadfast in their faith. The struggles the characters face are practical and can be easily applied to everyday life, even if you don't experience that particular difficulty. For example, both of th main characters experience the loss of their mate. Both are shattered. Paul becomes bitter, while Abby accepts what is and tries to make the best of it.They find that the best way to deal with your struggles is to give them to God and in doing so life will be much easier. Who knows there may even be a reward ??? Read this book, you won't be sorry you did!

Editorial Review:

“She can’t be dead!” the young pastor cried as he looked down at the still, white face of his new bride. Blinded by bitterness, Paul Cameron leaves his church and flees to a logging camp deep in the north woods of Wisconsin. There he wrestles with his loss—unable to get Corrine out of his mind and unwilling to make peace with God.

When a falling tree crushes his legs, Paul can run no further. Broken now in body as well as spirit, he must face his own heart as he encounters the love of God in the patient care of his nurse, Abigail Finlayson.

The Long Road Home touches shattered dreams with God’s faithfulness and the possibility of new love in this turn–of–the–century romance.

A Good Read 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Overall this was a good book. The main girl is admirable and strong. The plot was great and it was easy to like.

The one part of the book I did not like was the scene where Megan hears the man's voice who murdered her father's men. Of course she freaks out and embarasses her husband. And instead of comforting her or pitying her everyone scolds her. She is or on the verge of being hysterical and all they can do is tell her she didnt handle it right. I dont think anyone would handle hearing the voice of a murderer. The characters responses were either not written well, or the characters were heartless in that scene. Either way I didnt like that particular scene and it in some ways ruined the main man in the book for me.

Great historical 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I'm not usually into medieval historicals...mainly because I'm a medieval historian and am WAY too picky. This certainly wasn't historically accurate, but I loved it anyway. The characters are such fun and definitely worth the time to explore. Bracken and Megan are both a lot of fun to watch change and grow in all their relationships.

Editorial Review:

When the king commands Bracken to marry, high–spirited Megan is chosen to fulfill the edict. Unskilled in the ways of love, Bracken finds Megan captivating, yet cannot seem to voice his feelings until he almost loses her forever.

Travel with McKay and Callie as they work to catch a criminal and slowly fall in love with each other.

Once again Lori Wick has written an incredible historical! I love the compassion of Katherine and the special love she has for all children. I enjoyed watching Chase grow and learn how God wanted him to care for his son. Great book!

Editorial Review:

Katherine Taggert—nicknamed “Rusty” for her curly red hair—shines like a ray of sunshine at her aunt and uncle’s orphanage. Unaccustomed to traveling alone in the pioneer West, Rusty is accompanied on her first orphanage placement trip by the kind but reserved widower Chase McCandles.

When Chase offers Rusty a position in his stately home as a companion for his young son, Quintin, Rusty accepts. But when she realized how little time Chase spends with Quintin, Rusty’s heart is torn. How can she convince Chase that his son desperately needs a father?

And can Chase learn to trust God to help him demonstrate his love and affection for Quintin—and for Rusty?

A heartwarming story of love, trust, and family.

A wonderful book!!! 5 out of 5 stars.

Excellent story! I'd give it a ten if I could! It's really beautiful Christian love story. It makes one really believe in love.

Interesting, but not her best 3 out of 5 stars.
5 of 6 people found this review helpful.

The first mistake I made was reading Lori Wick's Californian series first. In light of those, all of the rest of her books seem a little mediocre. A Song of Silas started off so slowly I thought I would never get through it but I eventually got involved- not engrossed but involved. The storyline is interesting enough, although I didn't get the same thrilling feeling that I've gotten with some of her other books. I would recommend this only as part of the series, does not hold enough weight on its own.

Editorial Review:

Amy thought love would never pass her way again. She didn’t know how close it was...until she met Silas. He is an answer to prayer for her injured father, Grant Nolan, who welcomes him with open arms. The brotherly way Silas feels toward Amy soon turns to deeper feelings of love.

Silas longs to have his love returned. But his sensitivity to Amy’s reluctant heart and the loss of her old flame keeps him from harboring false hopes for their future. As Silas prepares to leave, will Amy discover the truth about her heart before it’s too late?

A tender story of the flowering of hidden love and the nurturing of faith in the farmlands of Wisconsin.

SOPHIE SWEATS...BAD!!! 3 out of 5 stars.
3 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I cant believe that out of all the reviews I have read, not one of you have mentioned Sophie's creepy, sweaty hands! Am I the only one who notices that she is constantly about to drop things because of the excess moisture? And how about those "damp marks" on her "leather purse"? But wait, it get's nastier my friends! She commences to shake hands with people...on a regular basis. Now tell me that isn't disguisting. Moving along...

I would not have you think that I'd give a book a mere 3 stars do to a character's unfortunate hands. I do have valid reasons.
1. This woman is supposed to have been a master of at least 3 languages, yet she does not know enough English to be taken seriously in America. I thought she and her grandmother had been waiting a long time to come. Yet she get's here and all she can say is "I have phone message" and "yes, this is word"? I find that strantge.
2. Another thing. Alec Riley did not even notice Sophie until she got all prettied up. Then he notices as he comes up his driveway and the garage door is rising, "the shapeliest pair of calves" he'd ever seen. I guess it's easier to see Sophie now that she'd gotten three inch "spindly" heals (I thought this was a Christian novel), a flashy scarf, and a new hairdo. Why couldn't he have fallen for her when he saw how devoted she was to his children? Why did it take a makeover for him to feel affection?
3. Next we come to Peg Frazier, Alec's mother in law. In dealing with Peg, Sophie is made out to be almost stupid, not naive. What intelligent woman do you know who would perform a packet (not a list, my friends...a PACKET!!!)of chores that never in her employment have been assigned to her by her boss. Sophie even acknowledges that it is not like Alec to give orders via a second party. so why does she obey? A question for the ages...
All in all, this book is readable, but the annoyances will mount alarmingly fast once you get into it. But I'd rather read this than lots of the other inapropriate romance fiction that's out there. If you really want a good, clean, romantic read (wonderful combo!), then read Lori Wick's Kensington Chronicles, but not much else, she's in a authoral slump just now.

Editorial Review:

After the tragic death of his wife, Alec Riley struggles to put his life back together. He and his three children are lost in their grief...until Sophie walks unexpectedly into their lives. Having left her native Czechoslovakia, Sophie has discovered the land which seemed so bright with promise is far from her dream. A highly educated woman, Sophie now finds herself keeping house for Alec and his family

How can Sophie find peace in her new job? Will God use her gentle spirit to help heal Alec’s broken heart?

From the author of The Visitor and Bamboo and Lace comes a warm contemporary story of God’s tender mercies and loving intervention in the life of one family.
