Danny's review 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I was reading The Burning by R.L. Stine. This book was a pretty good book; out of ten I would give this book a high eight. I liked this book because of all mystery and horror combined.

In this book it is told by Nora Goode, who is married to one of the Fears. In this book it is about how this guy Simon Fear goes to this party and falls in love with Angelica Goode. But Angelica has two guys that are really wealthy and smart and handsome. So Simon kills both of them and marries Angelica. Then bad luck comes back to Simon. He kills his own daughter. Now Daniel has to go for Simon's birthday.
and mystery. They would like this because it is all mystery and horror. So read this book
A person who would like this is a person who likes horror

Kristen's review 4 out of 5 stars.

I didn't like the ending because it could have been a better, but if he did a different ending then there wouldn't be any Fear Street books. I did like it from the beginning up to the end. I only liked the beginning because it had the mystery to it and I didn't want to put it down. I like it when I can't put it down because then it keeps me hooked. When I'm hooked the book doesn't get boring that easily
The story is about a boy named Simon who tried to forget about and stop the family curse. But then, it finally caught up to him. It is about Simon's grandson named Daniel. Daniel didn't know about his family curse until he got to his grandparents. He fell in love with Nora Goode before he knew about the curse and he thought that if they got married it would end the curse. Will the marriage and their true love end the curse? What will happen to them in the end?
If you didn't read The Betrayal and The Secret then you will not understand the book that well. If you like mystery, love, and not wanting to put the book down then you may like this book most of it or all of it. This book will help you understand why bad things happen to people who live on Fear Street in the Fear Street books. There is dying in this book and if you like that in a book then you may just like this book.

Editorial Review:

Daniel and Nora, two young lovers from feuding families, must use their forbidden love to stop the awesome evil that stalks Nora and her family.

Richards Reiview 5 out of 5 stars.

To start this off I Would like to say that i do not like to read and the only reason that I am writing this is that my teacher made me do a book report on it for an assignment. The story all starts off in the morning when Julie comes down from her room to eat breakfast and her mother tells her that she has a letter from a collage on the talble. She opens it to find out that she was accepted by the collage and will be going there after the summer is over. When she is done she goes up to her room and her mother tells her that she left a letter on the table. When she went down to get it she found that it was blank and had no return adress on it. When she opened the letter she found that it only contained one sentance in bold writing " I know what you did last summer." Then Julie gets togather with her friends: Ray Bronson, Barry Cox, and Helen Rivers. They tried to think of soomeone who would send Julie a letter like this. Then while Helen was out by the pool in her apartment she met a guy named Collingsworth Wilson (Collie). They talked for awhile and then she went up to her aparatment because she did not want to get burned by the sun. When she got to the door of her room there was a picture on it. It was a picture of a little boy on a bike. Then later the day Ray recived a newspaper clipping in the mail with no return adress like Julie's. Inside the envelope was a newspaper clipping. It was the Death Report on a boy named David Gregg, a 10 year old boy who they had killed last summer in a hit and run accident. David was riding his bike home from a friends house in the middle of the night because they had a fight and his mom would not come pick him up. Then while he was riding they came around a corner in their car and did not see in in front of the car because his bike had no lights or reflectors on it. They then hit him and sped down the road to a roadside booth to call the police to tell them what happened but did not give out thier names. Then why Barry was in his fraternity house he recived a phone call but did not know who it was from. The person on the phone told him to go out to the athletic field. There was a memorial day fireworks display going on and while everyone watched he got shot.

Editorial Review:

It was only an accident -- but it would change their lives forever. Last summer, four terrified friends made a desperate pact to conceal a shocking secret. But some secrets don't stay buried, and someone has learned the truth. Someone bent on revenge. This summer, the horror is only beginning....

Penetrates The Soul, Probably The Best 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

The Boy Next Door, by R.L.Stine, is a very unique book to the Fear Street series.
It describes Scott, the boy next door, who is a mad killer, and three girls who are madly in love with Scott.
Scott is a truly creepy dude. He is a football star, but hates girls who wear makeup or dress skimply. In his mind, it is his duty to kill all the girls who do these rather normal things.
Scott is the whole point of this book, and Stine makes him a truly scary and mad character.

Read it again! 4 out of 5 stars.

The first time I read it, I didn't like it. The fact I knew who the killer was kinda took all the suspense out of it. But then, when I read it the 2nd time, I ended up actually liking it.

Scott is a weird character. I wear make up and dress up too, and honestly, I would get really freaked out if somebody was trying to kill me because of that.

i liked the characters. I liked how the relationship between Crystal and her sister Melinda is portrayed. And I liked how RL Stine gives us an insight to Scott's twisted mind.

I wouldn't recommend this book if you like suspense, but if you read for the plot and characters, you should definately read it.

Editorial Review:

When handsome Scott moves next door and becomes Shadyside High's new football star, Lauren and Crystal go out of their way to attract his attention, unaware that his last girlfriend died under mysterious circumstances.

Recommended to Parents who cant get their daughters to read 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I purchased the Sweep series for my 13 year old daughter in the hopes that maybe she would read. "She hated to read." Well I was amazed, and could not get her to go to sleep, as she would spend the whole night, with a night-light on reading these books. She enjoyed them so much, and could not stop talking first about Cal and then Hunter, that I had to see what all the fuss was about.
Well after two weeks, a book a day, for a girl who hated to read, it sparked my curiosity, so I started reading, and was surprised to find out how enjoyable a Teen book about Teen Witches could be. I am not really into Wicca, but these books are really enjoyable. I am on my fifth book, and my daughter read each twice, and is know on the Circle of Three Series. I have to highly recommend these books to those parents who can not get their daughters to read. These are excellent stories, full of fantasy, horror, and fun.

Editorial Review:

Witchcraft is part of Morgan in a way she can't explain; it's a part of who she is. She thought her boyfriend Cal was, too, that they were destined to be together. But Cal betrayed her in the worst way imaginable, by trying to give her up to the dark side.

Now, Morgan is learning all she can about magick so she can protect herself. She is studying with a witch named Hunter, who helped her fight Cal. Hunter and Morgan set off sparks when they are together, and Morgan realizes that what she had with Cal might not have been real. But there is still dark magick at work around them, and Hunter believes a friend of Morgan is to blame.

Gripping read 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

The story starts off in the 1600s during the witch-hunt times, where young Mary Newbury has to begin a new life after the death of her grandmother. She travels to America with a lady named Martha who takes her in. It isn't expressed in great detail, but hinted when Mary and Martha met that Martha knows more about what Mary is going though than she lets on. It is obvious that anyone deemed 'different' back in those times had to be very careful, especially if they practiced with herbal remedies, etc.
The book is written diary format, since the story is 'based' on a diary that was found stitched in a quilt. Martha had found Mary's diary one night, and knew that if the wrong person read it Mary would be in grave danger. Mary, not wanting to burn her diary, took to folding each piece of paper and then stitching it in her quilt.
Honestly, if I had not read the fine print stating that this book was a work of fiction, I would've believed every single word.
It was amazingly put together with the note at the beginning from Alison Ellman and the afterword left by her as well. Most definatly one would think that it was indeed a real-life story!
I am sure likely happened similar to this story took place in the 1600's, it was definatly a troubled time period.
This book takes you back to the time period where everyone was severely and wrongfully judged. To me it is a history lesson, and a lesson on how people can be so quick to judge, especially when they fear differences.

Editorial Review:

Enter the world of young Mary Newbury, a world where simply being different can cost a person her life. Hidden until now in the pages of her diary, Mary’s startling story begins in 1659, the year her beloved grandmother is hanged in the public square as a witch. Mary narrowly escapes a similar fate, only to face intolerance and new danger among the Puritans in the New World. How long can she hide her true identity? Will she ever find a place where her healing powers will not be feared?

Just two weeks after publication, Celia Rees’s WITCH CHILD spirited its way onto the Book Sense Children’s Only 76 list as one of the Top 10 books that independent booksellers like to handsell. Within a month, this riveting book sold out its first two hardcover printings. Now, Candlewick Press is pleased to announce the publication of WITCH CHILD in paperback.

In the beging of the book the fier family went to a village and every body was dead. And so they left and as they were on there way they found a farm owned by the goodes. So the fier family moved into the farm and lived there. And when simons littlen sister wanted to go to the village, simon the brother told her [NO] but she refoused to go back. Simon was walking around looking for his little sister. When he found her she was playing with a little named Hester. And to find out the rest you have to read the book called The Secret.

Tormented by a curse that has plagued them for generations, the Fier family changes its name to Fear, hoping to escape the horrible secret.

Engaging story, even if Wicca isn't your thing 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

My 14-year old loves this novel and told me that I had to read it. She and I have somewhat similar tastes in fiction, although I tend to prefer funnier novels with nerdy protagonists. I'm not into Wicca and I tend to roll my eyes when it's mentioned in a book. However, this novel exceeded my expectations. I kept changing my mind about who the guilty character is. The one distubing detail of the book is explained in the story (I don't want to include a spoiler, so I'll just say that this particular detail is really gross). I'll be buying the other books in this series.

a great end to a great series 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

Okay so Stacy is dreaming again, only this time no bodily fluids (anyone else disappointed?). In her dream a girl is telling her to help or "he will die." Convinced this will bring her to Jacob, she agrees to help the president at her school whose daughter is having nightmares and is on the brink of being institutionalized.
At the same time a guy named Shell is at a campground in the middle of nowhere with no memory of his past or anything other than the camp. The camp works much like a cult, the leader is all powerful, they are shut out of the outside world and forced to "love" other members. He knows there's something else out there, or should I say someONE else, but he just cant remember.
All of our favorite charactors are back: Amber, Drea, PJ, and Chad, along with some fun new charactors, my favorite being Janie the Christian roomate who is against witchcraft but not sex outside of marriage.

Editorial Review:

- The fourth in a series of suspense thrillers by Laurie Faria Stolarz for ages twelve and up - The first two titles of this series--Blue is for Nightmares and White is for Magic--have rapidly climbed to the top of Llewellyn's bestseller list. They were also nominated for the 2004 Teen's Top Ten (sponsored by Yalsa) by teen readers across the country - Edgy storytelling and rich language colorfully convey a multi-dimensional heroine who experiences common, current teen issues while coming to grips with being a hereditary Witch
