Horrible, terrible dialogue, no clue for the futuristic 1 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Quite frankly, I'm embarrassed for JD Robb/Nora Roberts. This is quite possibly the most ridiculously written book posing as a suspense novel that I have ever read. Robb's "grasp" of the world in 2060 is laughable, and is limited to overuse of the word "e-(fill in the blank)", a 'link (which is basically a Blackberry, available in the early 2000s), running probabilities (haven't we been able to do this since statistics was discovered?), TUBES of soft drinks rather than cans/bottles, and an AutoChef. Oh, and a droid butler here and there.

Her dialogue is ludicrous. Roarke is presented as this silly fawning co-dependent relationship and Eve wears the pants.

I didn't care about any of the people because I couldn't get past the irritating and lame plot.

I will never read another one of her books. Do NOT waste your time on this series.

A gripping continuation of the series 5 out of 5 stars.

It should first be said that this is part of a series about New York Police Lieutenant Eve Dallas, her friends and colleagues and her husband, multibillionaire Rourke. It makes sense on its own, but regarding the characters it's a lot better to have read the other titles in the series first. And they're definitely worth it.
'Creation in death' is about a serial killer who kidnaps young women with a specific look and age and then slowly tortures them to death. He then cuts the time they lasted under his torture into their chests, washes the bodies, and leaves them where they can be found. The case is particularly important to Eve Dallas because the killer was in New York when she had just become a policewoman. She and her instructor Feeney couldn't catch the killer back then. And the killer already has his next victim. So the police know that while they're desperately trying to find this killer, the next woman is already being tortured. A race against time begins. As always, Rourke helps his wife, so do her colleagues. But it soon becomes clear that the killer will come after Eve herself as his final victim. And she is more than willing to let him catch her in the hope that she can save his present victim.
This was one of the most intense books in the series when it comes to the crime story because it's not 'just' about catching a killer after the crime or before he / she can commit another, but about saving women who are being tortured to death as the police are investigating. I could imagine that this story may be hard to take for some readers, but I thought it was really well-done and gripping. As I like the characters and the series, it's always a pleasure to get another Eve Dallas novel. I would definitely recommend this book and the whole series if you like intelligent crime stories with well-developed characters.

Student's Review 5 out of 5 stars.

I had to do a book report recently and was hoping to read I Know What You Did Last Summer, also by Lois DUncan. The Library didn't have it, so i picked up Killing Mr. Griffin. It was one of the best books i have ever read. Each chapter fed me something else, and kept me wondering. If i was reading late at night, it was soooo hard to put down the book. At 223 or so pages it only took about 2 or 3 days to finsh, but is a good read and is worth it. I haven't seen the movie and can only hope that they do the book dignity and do not add any crazy story twists or side plots that make no sense.

PS: I still have one question, though, even after finishing the book. Duncan hinted at it through out the novel, and i hoped she would resolve this before the end but no. Is there a sequel??? I sure hope! I'm rambling, but anyway, READ THIS BOOK!

Editorial Review:

High school can be tough. But with teachers like Mr. Griffin it can seem impossible.

They only planned to scare him. But sometimes even the best-laid plans go wrong.

Good and bad points 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Good book but way too short. There could have been more conversation(there was literally a handful of dialogue between the main character & vampire). Alot more detail and vampire history could have been added, it always seemed lacking. When the tale was good, it was GOOD. lots of potential just not enough meat and potatoes lol. The ending was disappointing to top it off.

A Great Novel 5 out of 5 stars.

About ten years ago, I picked up this book for the first time. It has been my favorite book ever since. I wish only that she had made this into a series, because I fell in love with the characters. Another wonderful gift for a teenage girl.

If you enjoyed this book, also check out The Silver Kiss and Blood and Chocolate.

Editorial Review:

The romantic horror genre reaches a new level of complexity in this novel, which manages to be simultaneously thought-provoking and blood-curdling. Kerry becomes the unwitting accomplice of an attractive, mysterious boy on the run, only to discover that he is a vampire. Can she trust her feelings for someone so alien to her? Or has she been "seduced by the glamour of evil"? An ALA Best Book for Young Adults, this was called "a tingly thriller" by Horn Book

When I bought Down a Dark Hall I knew it was going to be interesting. Louis Duncan is one of my favorite authors. Durring Down a Dark Hall a 14 year-old girl named Kit is chosen to go to the private school Blackwood School for Girls. Durring her time at Blackwood some unusual things happen to her and the few other girls that are there. Kit runs into some problems while being at this school, some of which she doesn't know what to do about. Ever since Kit has been at the school she has had a weird feeling about it. She's not sure what it is but she does know that it isn't good. The biggest problem at the school is when she is sleeping. Soon she becomes too scared to sleep but she has no choice but to fall asleep. The other girls that are at the schools are having similar problems but none of them want to face Madame Duret the school boards leader. This is a intereting book that combines mystery with common real life problems.

Editorial Review:

Why does the exclusive boarding school Blackwood have only four students?

Kit walks the dark halls and feels a penetrating chill. What tterror waits around the next corner?

Editorial Review:

Walking around New York City was what Mitty Blake did best. He loved the city, and even after 9/11, he always felt safe. Mitty was a carefree guy–he didn’t worry about terrorists or blackouts or grades or anything, which is why he was late getting started on his Advanced Bio report.
Mitty does feel a little pressure to hand something in–if he doesn’t, he’ll be switched out of Advanced Bio, which would be unfortunate since Olivia’s in Advanced Bio. So he considers it good luck when he finds some old medical books in his family’s weekend house that focus on something he could write about. But when he discovers an old envelope with two scabs in one of the books, the report is no longer about the grade–it’s about life and death. His own.
This edge-of-your-seat thriller will leave you breathless.

Great book for 6th grade+ 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 7 people found this review helpful.

This has been one of my all-time favorite books ever since I read it last year. The plot, though confusing, has just the right amount of twists and turns to keep you interested.

One thing I especially enjoyed was the fact that no one was pure good or pure evil, and very few people end up with the same character Kira percieves them with in the beginning. An example is Aunt Memory. At the beginning of the book, she is percieved by Kira as strange but welcome. A little while later, Kira begins to have second thoughts. Then, she thinks of her as kind, then evil, then, surprisingly, with a hint of sympathy.

This is an overall very good book which I would recommend to anyone 6th grade and up looking for a great book you can really get lost in.

Editorial Review:

While playing around with hypnotism at a party, Kira remembers fleeing a war-torn country with her mother, speaking a language she can't identify. A few days later her mother disappears, and a woman who calls herself Kira's aunt Memory takes Kira to Crythe, a country that doesn't officially exist, in order to rescue her -- or so she says.

Kira soon learns that Aunt Memory is not what she seems, and Kira and her mother are both in terrible danger. There are memories locked in Kira's mind that could get her and her mother killed. But those memories are the only things that might save them...

Lacking...Confusing but still it Shines! 4 out of 5 stars.

It lacks major excitment like in Uglies and Pretties and Specials but you can tell it's Westerfeld's wonderful writing style. I sometimes feel lost and cofused and I'm not sure if I even understand the book but in the end it's interesting and different. Atleast try it!

Uglies fans won't be disappointed 5 out of 5 stars.

This book grabbed me from the start. Very different from the Uglies series, but similar in its ability to grab attention, embrace the wonderful quirky characters and cheer for the underdog. The backdrop of this story, trends, advertising and market research are fascinating. The main character, Hunter, is full of all sorts of useless knowledge that help him solve the mystery like any good detective story you'll ever read. I am an 8th grade English teacher who read it before putting it on my own classroom library shelf and will be certain to recommend this as a fun read for my students.

After recently reading and reviewing Nancy Werlin's The Rules of Survival, I went in search of some of her other books. I discovered DOUBLE HELIX, and it didn't disappoint me.

Eli Samuels, salutatorian of his graduating class, has decided to postpone college for a year. His father is not pleased. But Eli is struggling to decide just exactly where he is headed in life. Complicating matters are his relationship with his girlfriend and his mother's illness, Huntington's disease.

Eli and his father have been struggling with Ava's illness for many years, but the end is near. She is confined to a nursing home and not even aware of their visits. Eli's future is uncertain because Huntington's disease is hereditary. His mother may have passed him the gene which carries the disease. A simple blood test holds the answer, but Eli is not ready to know the truth.

Dr. Quincy Wyatt, a famous scientific researcher, offers Eli a job at Wyatt Transgenics. It involves caring for research animals and helping in the lab. The more Eli learns about Dr. Wyatt and the work of his company, the more he begins to question what he knows about his own life.

Using clever twists and turns, Nancy Werlin has created a real nail-biter that makes this book hard to put down.

Editorial Review:

Eli Samuels, barely out of high school, is offered a job at prestigious Wyatt Transgenics by its founder, a legendary molecular biologist. The salary’s amazing, the work is interesting, and Dr. Wyatt seems to want to mentor him. It’s almost too good to be true. But Mr. Samuels is vehemently against Eli’s taking the job, and he won’t explain why. Eli knows that there’s some connection between Dr. Wyatt and his parents—something painful for his father. Something to do with his mother, now debilitated by Huntington’s disease. As Eli works at the lab and spends time with Dr. Wyatt, he begins to uncover some disconcerting information—about himself.

~kCs~ The Barcode Tattoo 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

How would you feel if everyone was getting a barcode tattoo because it was suppose to make your life better?
Well in the year 2025 Kayla Reed is turning 17 soon and once she's 17 she is qualified to get a barcode tattoo, which is what everyone is paying with. The tattoo has all your information on it so you don't have to carry anything. Once her parents got the tattoo her dad lost his job so she decided to become against getting one. Her friend insist she gets one until the day her father commits suicide and her mother keeps blaming it on the tattoo but Kayla doesn't know why.
When her best friend's parents loose their job and there tattoos don't work, they are forced to move to their relative house she makes friends with a bunch of seniors who are against the barcode too. Not too long after this, the barcode is forced by law. That means everyone has to get the tattoo and if you don't have it you'll be charged with a crime and be forced to get it. After seeing all the tragedies that happen with people with the barcode tattoo, Kayla decides to fight with her new friends to stop the new enforced law. After her mother kills herself trying to get the barcode off, Kayla has to run from her home because the Global-1 officers are after her and know she does not have the code. She is constantly on the run and she also tries to find out what's in the barcode that's making everyone so miserable? Will she be able to avoid the tattoo?
This book is a real page-turner and I recommend it to children over the age of 12 because of the level of maturity. I'm not too sure if the book is written in a Christian perspective or not. The author's craft is that she can end each chapter with something to catch your attention. Mass is also excellent with flashbacks. The theme of this book is free choice and everyone gets to make there own choices and no one can make it for them. The pacing in this book is well paced for the storyline. I think that everyone over 12 should read this book.

Editorial Review:

The bar code tattoo. Everybody's getting it. It will make your life easier, they say. It will hook you in. It will become your identity. But what if you say no? What if you don't want to become a code? For Kayla, this one choice changes everything. She becomes an outcast in her high school. Dangerous things happen to her family. There's no option but to run . . . for her life.Indivuality vs. conformity.. Identity vs. access. Freedom vs. control. The bar code tattoo.
