Beautiful book 4 out of 5 stars.

Wonderful pictures, short book, not very much information. Buy this book for the visual and "Anal Sex for Couples" for instruction.

Educational read for those willing to challenge taboo! 4 out of 5 stars.
20 of 27 people found this review helpful.

This is a really informative read for anyone interested in adding any anal behaviour to their play.

Anal sex must be one of the most discussed topics, highly erotic for some repulsive and vile for others etc. Even historically it was significant enough to rate a mention, written into Mythology where it was demonized as an extremity of sinfulness (Sodom). Curious that. After all, the same mythology includes enlightenment being evil (The tree of the knowledge of good and evil), female empowerment being improper (check out the Lilith myth) etc. So that in itself acts a pretty good recommendation, suggests there may be something worth exploring in anal sex. Anything that was so vigorously opposed by the institutions charged with the job of keeping the masses compliant and scared to reach their full potential for knowledge, power and pleasure must have some merit!! In the Southern parts of India anal sex was also included in the Kama Sutra as a sacred and significant act, yep, lots of good reasons not to dismiss anal sex as weird kinky stuff just for sick people.

This is a great little read that doesn't bother with the historic aspects I've just mentioned. Instead it's straight forward, honest and a good manual, helping people understand what it's all about, to know their own bodies, to learn their own pleasures, understand safety and, for some no doubt, find some of the best fun times and most powerful orgasmic experiences they might ever have. For others they'll just have a better understanding on their bodies and possibly just find one more sexual option that just `isn't for them'. None of that matters though because there's probably very few people who could read this book without gaining a better understanding of their bodies and find some more options to explore in search of the pleasure that does `do it' for them.

If my body is a temple, there is no part of it which isn't sacred and no part of my body which is dirty or in any way a shame or embarrassment. If anyone has a problem with my refusing to consider any part of me or any partner of mine dirty or a humility, you know where they can stick their thoughts,-in their dirty, humiliating places!!

Cheers

Lloyd

Let's be honest... 3 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

So. I've never wanted to pay for membership on the SG site, but I've always had an attraction and fascination with the whole punk/goth/indie/alternative type of look. So when this book was released, I jumped on it.

- The photos aren't very artistic. They're simple and straightforward, shot with a standard digital camera.
- It's arranged rather simply, with little or no thought to the placement of the images. (Usually two images side by side per page)
- True, you can probably find a lot of similar images on the internet.
- Some of the girls are absolutely beautiful, but I find some rather unattractive.
- The quality of the pictures is rather poor, since the original intent of SG was purely online. So the change from pixels to print never translates well.
- There's very little about the girls themselves... just short, self-written bio's on some of the girls in the back.
- Let's be honest... you're just buying this for the boobies of cute indie chicks... and that's okay.

After a couple viewings, it doesn't have a lasting effect that the likes of Tony Ward or maybe Richard Kern's work might have. Less art and more taboo. It's an inexpensive book, so if you're into the whole naked chicks with tattoos and piercing, I'd say go for it.

Editorial Review:

An icon of gay art and one of the most famous names in physique photography, Bruce Bellas is remembered today as a pioneer of beefcake. Beginning in the 1940s and continuing until his death in 1974, Bellas photographed some of the most important figures in the world of physical culture; bodybuilders Steve Reeves, Bob McCune, and George Eiferman, and models Joe Dallesandro, Mark Nixon, and Brian Idol are just a few of the countless strapping males captured by Bellas’ lens. The man who came to be known as Bruce of Los Angeles crafted a refined, masterful aesthetic of erotica, whose influence would later surface in the work of Robert Mapplethorpe, Herb Ritts, Bruce Weber, and many others. Collected in Bruce of Los Angeles: Inside/Outside are Bellas’ rare photographs and films, as they have never been seen before. The two volumes, Inside and Outside, comprise over 100 full-color images, all masterfully restored from the original color negatives. This limited-edition set is contained in a unique slipcase, and includes a DVD of 12 digitally remastered films. Author Description: Bruce Bellas (1909-1974) was born in Alliance, Nebraska and was a chemistry teacher before taking up photography. He set out on road trips through America’s heartland, photographing farmhands, athletes, soldiers, and sailors along the way, and eventually made his way to California, where he began shooting bodybuilding contests all along the coast. As his career blossomed, he branched out into color work, 8mm films, and 3-D slides, and by the 1960s had succeeded in publishing his own magazine, The Male Figure. He died in 1974, leaving behind one of the most comprehensive photo archives of the time. Vince Aletti reviews photography exhibitions for The New Yorker’s "Goings On About Town" section and writes a regular column about photo books for Photograph, as well as occasional features for publications including Aperture, Art + Auction, and others. He was the art editor of the Village Voice from 1994 to 2005, and the paper's photo critic for 20 years. He is the winner of the International Center of Photography’s 2005 Infinity Award in writing. He has written essays for a number of art books, and has curated and co-curated shows at major galleries in New York and abroad. Aletti is currently at work on Male, a book of photographs from his collection.

A hotel room in Havana. The midday heat. A famous female movie star. A French star photographer. and a red bed. These are the ingredients for Cuba Libre, the erotic women's book of the season. Breathtakingly beauitful Emmanuelle Beart, who came to fame as the "Belle Noiseuse" in Jacques Rivette's multi-award-winning film of the same name, offers us an unparalleled series of highly erotic and intoxicatingly feminine nudes. Sylvie Lancrenon, photographer for Elle magazine in France, staged this daring performance adn captured it in compelling color photographs: Cuba Libre is in the most lascivious of terms sweet, sexy and stunning.

Stunning, Original Erotic Photos of Models Who Own the Camera Lens 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

This is an absolutely stunning book of photography featuring a wide range of models and styles. From simple nudes to full-on fetish, these photographers showcase everything from bondage to outdoor nudity to the finest in latex attire. I have many favorites here, but what I loved is discovering new photographers and models alongside favorites like Justine Joli, who is absolutely smokin' hot here (as well as literally smoking, turning the act of placing a cigarette in one's mouth into an erotic art form).

The Hikari Kesho set of Karia and friend, featuring mistress and sub play while also slightly mocking it is to be commended as well. Emma Delves-Broughton brings us Valeria, who is, I believe, on the cover of her book Kinky Couture, but here she's also in a cute little blue latex waitress outfit on roller skates, transforming herself into some kind of kinky waitress on wheels. Katja Ehrhardt's photos of the striking Ulorin Vex, with a different hair color in each as she models a black latex headdress and gloves, are arresting in their boldness. They're followed by the lightheartedness of Happy Naked Girls photographer Andrew Einhorn showing off Lorina, a pretty but somewhat plain girl who's holding a camera of her own.

This book features some models who look like typical California blonde beach babes worthy of pinup calendars, to others who'd be perfectly at home in the dirtiest of dungeons. The short interviews with each model give a little glimpse into their personalities, and their websites so we can go ogle more photos; I certainly plan to. What's also wonderful about this collection is that one has the sense that the models are equal participants in the shoots. They stare back boldly, sometimes defiantly. They take up space, and truly pose, instead of just staring back at the camera and waiting for the person behind the lens to work their magic. While this book is meant to, and does, showcase some of the best erotic photographers in the world, it also highlights the importance of the models, who are clearly making statements of their own via their clothing (or lack of it), piercings, hair, and body language. This is a book I plan to revisit often.

Editorial Review:

It’s all about the models. Without these extraordinary women erotic photography would not exist. 36 outstanding photographers from all over the world share their favorite model with us. 44 stunning beauties are put in the limelight and are paid homage to by the best in contemporary erotic photography. Let them take your breath away! Adore! Enjoy!

LIVES UP TO ITS NAME 5 out of 5 stars.
28 of 30 people found this review helpful.

Probably the largest variety of photographs, showing the largest variety of breasts of any book I've ever seen. Big ones, small ones, direct porno like photographs, artistic renderings, full-color, black and white, silhouettes, I could go on and on about all the variety of different breast shots that appear in this book.

The book originated in Germany. Half the writing is in German and half is in English. The photography, printing, and presentation are all top notch. This is one of the few female form books that lives up to its title and description.

Not bad 5 out of 5 stars.
17 of 17 people found this review helpful.

This book was very good. It has a good variety of photographic stylies. I would disagree with the other review calling some of the pictures out right "porno"; I would call them more fetish and others are trying to make an artistic point. But I guess you can take the pictures the way you want to. At any rate this book is no dissapointment.

Editorial Review:

The following collection of photographs of breasts contains an amazing variety of shapes and sizes, all of which have been made to look as natural-looking as possible. Some are perky and small while others are enormous, making this exciting volume sure to quicken the pulse of all fans of the female form.

A stunningly intimate yet never explicit portrait of the world's most outrageous industry 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 5 people found this review helpful.

Review originally published in the Hipster Book Club, March 2008.

Michael Grecco's gigantically oversized tome represents the culmination of a five-year journey to document the bodies, chaos, and richness of character at the Adult Video News Awards Show, held annually in Las Vegas and charmingly referred to as the "porn Oscars." Naked Ambition is a pop culture art book that the author doesn't want relegated to a low bookshelf in the photography section.

Grecco, whose background is in both photojournalism and portraiture, normally works with the corporate machine of celebrity culture. In this book, he relishes photographing unguarded subjects who appear un-retouched in the well-composed, oversized images. The photographer's lens gazes directly into the eyes of his models, capturing them as complex artists, not sleaze robots. Grecco's subjects are fully clothed and posed in a decidedly non-provocative manner. The outfits are outrageous and the make-up is thick, but Grecco never allows his subjects to titillate the camera. He captures joyous laughter, moments of pensive thought, and direct, unflinching stares from the myriad of artists with whom he worked.

The author assigned snarky titles to each model to reflect his or her niche in the industry. Grecco's first portraiture subject is Larry Flynt, contributor of one of the book's two introductions. After a regal portrait of the publishing magnate in his wheelchair, the reader meets the biggest star of the modern era, Jenna Jameson ("The Queen"), photographed with a male assistant attending to her magenta floor-length ball gown. Highly paid stars Ron Jeremy ("The Jester"), Brittney Skye ("The Independent"), Jessica Drake ("The Hostess"), and Peter North ("The Fountain") make appearances early in the book.

Although the book opens with some of the biggest household names, the subjects of Naked Ambition are not limited to mainstream contract video stars. Grecco raises the stakes by featuring alternative stars like Joanna Angel, who produced a zombie movie homage called Repenetrator; six-foot-five runway model Alexis Skye, who is paid to hawk products in skintight latex and heels which raise her height to seven feet; and handicapped on- and off-screen couple Diablo and Kitten. Brash freelance artist Michelle Aston is photographed twice in artistic nudes which display her full-body tattoo art and shaved head. Over half a dozen transsexual performers are featured, including drag queen/filmmaker Chi Chi LaRue, who was an early activist for condom use in adult films and appears both in drag and au naturel in Grecco's portrait spread.

More than just a photography book, Naked Ambition is chock-full of insider info, biographical information, and quotes from performers from all walks of life. While Grecco was on a mission to gather the most dizzying array of Fellini-esque pageantry, editors Lonn Friend and Rob Hill were tasked with exploring the subjects as artists. The reader gets to meet a trio of Christian evangelist adult performers, a sister-sister team, and even two performers filmed with their mothers by their sides, all of whom discuss their backgrounds at length. Of course, the reader is also invited to gawk at the lushly photographed tools of the trade, from fake eyelashes to footwear worthy of design awards and Lucite objets d'art.

Michael Grecco has produced a stunningly intimate yet never explicit portrait of the world's most outrageous industry. By taking the focus off pornography and sex, he has forced performers to stop performing for a moment, to let their humanity be captured on film.

Editorial Review:

Naked Ambition goes backstage at the Adult Video News Awards where celebrity photographer Michael Grecco shows us everything: the convention, the celebrities, the awards program, and the exclusive, private after-parties. Naked Ambition is packed with hundreds of fine-art photographs of virtually every important personality in the adult film industry.

Wow 5 out of 5 stars.
23 of 23 people found this review helpful.

It's really sad how Nan Goldin hasn't gottten a single intelligible review for her seminial work, "The Ballad of Sexual Dependency." Her incredibly self-brutalizing protrayl of her life, friends, lovers, are just the sort of photographs we take when we want memories to cut. Most of the photographs are candid, fleshy, and almost dirtied with color. People copulate, hurt, masturbate, alienate each other with the sort of urbane nonchalance that people confused in their own lives inflict on others. In one particular self-portrait, Nan Goldin records her battered face directly after being battered by her lover, her bloodied eye matching her pasty lipstick. That one photograph can rip you to shreds if you let it. Originally, Nan Goldin showed "The Ballad of Sexual Dependency" in a slideshow format, which probably has a different feel than the book does. While some of the photos in the book were a little weak in the grain, most of the photos are beautifully reproduced.

Editorial Review:

Goldin charts the loss of innocence through barrooms and parties on the social periphery of New York's East Village and through the harrowing worlds of drugs and prostitution. The Ballad of Sexual Dependency is a visual diary chronicling the struggle for intimacy and understanding between friends, and lovers--collectively described by Nan Goldin as her "tribe." Her work describes a world that is visceral, charged, and seething with life . . . . As Goldin writes: "Real memory, which these pictures trigger, is an invocation of the color, smell, sound, and physical presence, the density and flavor of life."

A must for connoisseurs of fine art 5 out of 5 stars.

Fantastic Book... Roy Stuart continues to be a master. Many do not get Roy Stuart. But his one of the finest photographers today. His subject matter is at times raw and hard hitting, what so many do not understand. But Roy always photgraphs life - real life, not the pretentious, plastic hollywod version of life. Buy this or any of Roy's books, You will not be disaapointed.

Probably the best book I own! 5 out of 5 stars.

Roy Stuart is probably one of the best photographers ever.
This book is huge and loaded with many of Roy Stuarts' beautiful women.
The women and the shots are amazing.
This also comes with a full length dvd, also loaded with some incredible video footage.

...most daring, and definetly explicit erotica... 3 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

...Roy stewarts work in this 4th volume called the 4th body is truly amongst the best work, yes it is graphically explicit at times, but it is just as tame, with panty shots, to full penetration, from fully clothed men and women to erect penises and vaginas...as you can tell from the other comments his work is not for every one particularly those who are not into blatant, in your face nudity, mostly female, and full on vaginal penetration...but if it is genuine erotic art you're looking for this is truly one of the best...

Editorial Review:

From peek-a-boo panties to same-sex petting to more "indiscreet" activities, Stuart's titillating mises-en-scene challenge us to break loose from traditional moral codes. Also included is a rare interview with Stuart, and a DVD.
