Very handy reference 5 out of 5 stars.

Read it, know it, live it. If things keep going they they have with people not caring about the Constitution, we won't have. You know the adage, ignore it and it will go away, it's very true for the constitution. The 2008 RNC is a standout example of this where the police were not only suppressing the free speech of the demonstrators but also beating and arresting registered members of the press with press credentials clearly displayed. This was not just here and there accidents or misunderstandings. This was an organized act of suppressing the media. They threatened them with drawn weapons and beat them. The only way to stop the rise of fascism is to step up and protect your rights and the rights of your neighbors. Make know mistake, fascism is here. It's not just starting, it is well entrenched. Are you going to stand by, like the citizens of Nazi Germany, and do nothing. How long until dissidents start disappearing? We already have prison camps. Don't think your citizenship will protect you from being sent off somewhere. Just as soon as the government thinks you're apathetic enough, they will declare martial law and you will be required to have travel papers to go from city to city. This is deadly serious stuff. It makes me cringe whenever our government criticizes another government for suppressing their citizens rights. I didn't used to feel that way. I used to be proud of our government now our government is an embarrassment. If you think Obama's going to fix it, think again. The guys already sold out, just examine his recent voting record.

Perfect Condition & Tells you what you need to know 4 out of 5 stars.

This book cuts out all of the "bull" from your textbook and just tells you what you need to know about the cases and will probably even tell you what your teacher is going to lecture about in class.

the bible for con-law 5 out of 5 stars.

If anyone is taking Constitutional Law and is using the Chemerinsky case book, this treatise is a MUST have. You can actually get along the semester perfectly without the big case book and just reading this treatise. It explains things way better than the big book. Unless you need to know the cases straight from the language in the case book, this is just enough to do very well in this class.

Recommeded for Con Law Class 4 out of 5 stars.

This book is very helpful if you are looking for a Con Law study aid or explanation book. Many of my classmates also felt they had a better understanding of Con Law while using this book with the class.

Editorial Review:

As everyone knows, the United States Constitution is a tangible, visible document. Many see it in fact as a sacred text, holding no meaning other than that which is clearly visible on the page. Yet as renowned legal scholar Laurence Tribe shows, what is not written in the Constitution plays a key role in its interpretation. Indeed some of the most contentious Constitutional debates of our time hinge on the extent to which it can admit of divergent readings.
In The Invisible Constitution, Tribe argues that there is an unseen constitution--impalpable but powerful--that accompanies the parchment version. It is the visible document's shadow, its dark matter: always there and possessing some of its key meanings and values despite its absence on the page. As Tribe illustrates, some of our most cherished and widely held beliefs about constitutional rights are not part of the written document, but can only be deduced by piecing together hints and clues from it. Moreover, some passages of the Constitution do not even hold today despite their continuing existence. Amendments may have fundamentally altered what the Constitution originally said about slavery and voting rights, yet the old provisos about each are still in the text, unrevised. Through a variety of historical episodes and key constitutional cases, Tribe brings to life this invisible constitution, showing how it has evolved and how it works. Detailing its invisible structures and principles, Tribe compellingly demonstrates the invisible constitution's existence and operative power.
Remarkably original, keenly perceptive, and written with Tribe's trademark analytical flair, this latest volume in Oxford's Inalienable Rights series offers a new way of understanding many of the central constitutional debates of our time.

Editorial Review:

While the government claims to be a representative republic, somehow hot-button topics from gay marriage to the allocation of Florida's presidential electors always seem to be decided by unelected judges. What gives them the right to decide such issues? The judges say it's the Constitution. Author and law professor Kevin Gutzman shows that there is very little relationship between the Constitution ratified by the thirteen states more than two centuries ago and the "constitutional law" imposed upon us since then. Instead of the intended system of state-level decision makers and elected officials, judges have given us a centralized system in which bureaucrats and appointed officials make most of the important policies. The Constitution guarantees our rights and freedoms, but activist judges are threatening those very rights because of the Supreme Court's willingness to substitute its own opinions for the perfectly constitutional laws enacted by "we, the people" through our elected representatives.

The Origin of our Bill of Rights 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

"The Anti-Federalist Papers" along with the "Federalist Papers" is an excellent way to really learn about how our Constitution came about. Pseudonyms like The Centinel, The Pennsylvania Farmer, John DeWitt, Cato, et.al. set forth the cons against why various provisions of our Constitution should be viewed with great suspicion, and they offered counter proposals to safeguard our freedoms from ultimate despotism. I haven't read all the papers as I am also studying the Federalist Papers along with this book; but I am finding that many of the warnings the Anti-Federalists expressed have either come true or have come a long way toward becoming true.

I surely recommend purchasing this book if you want to learn the truth behind the reasons for our Constitution being as it is, and if you want to finally understand this very important basis for our government.

Small and Easy to Use 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

You can't really write a review about the Constitution! But I can tell you that this little book is not too difficult on the eyes, easy to use and simple for carrying to class. It doesn't weigh much in a pocket or a backpack, and this is the version I've used throughout my grad-school days. And after several years of thumbing through it, the book still hasn't fallen apart!

US Constitution and Bill of Rights 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

A very conveniently sized book that can be easily put into your pocket and places two of our country's most important documents within easy reach. I teach ESOL and I buy multiple copies so I can make sure that all my students can have a copy as they will hopefully begin studying for their US citizenship. Not only are the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence in this book but also little known facts of our founding fathers, notes on famous Supreme Court decisions, Articles of Confederation, etc.

Editorial Review:

In The U.S. Constitution & Fascinating Facts About It you'll see the entire text of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence--and much more! You'll find interesting insights into the men who wrote the Constitution, how it was created, and how the Supreme Court has interpreted the Constitution in the two centuries since its creation.

Balanced, scholarly, excellent 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 5 people found this review helpful.

Edwin Meese was head of the editorial board for this guide, which is put out by the Heritage Foundation. That might suggest to some people that there's a conservative slant to the guide, but those people would be wrong. The Heritage Guide was first brought to my attention by a very liberal aquaintance who praised it to the skies, and then by a very conservative colleague who likewise praised it highly. They both had good reasons to praise it.

The Guide takes you through the entire text of the Constitution, line by line, article by article, starting with a three-page discussion of the preamble. It's written by around 100 contributors, all of them well-regarded experts in law and political science. Their discussion of even contentious topics (e.g., Amendment II or privacy rights) is dispassionate and clear, laying out for the reader the history and the case law behind contemporary constitutional issues and avoiding value judgements. The contributors write without legal jargon and with admirable directness, making the Guide accessible (not just accessible, but even enjoyably readable) to anyone with a good highschool education. The sophistication of their discussion, though, makes it suitable also for university students at all levels and for anyone who has any interest at all in the U.S. Constitution. No matter what your position is on presidential war powers or gun control, you come away from this guide with a clear and concise understanding of how the legal debate got where it is now. Each article in the Guide is followed by cross references to other passages in the Constitution, suggestions for further research, and a list of significant cases touching on the particular Article and Section of the Constitution discussed. Thus the Guide isn't just good reading on its own, but an excellent tool and springboard for further research on any constitutional topic.

This book should be required reading for university undergraduates, and for at least those few who will fall under my power next year, it will be. I intend to use this book in my classes on "Law and Literature" and "Law and Economics" as required supplementary reading. It will help clarify class discussions that revolve around constitutional issues, improve student papers, and make my students better informed citizens of the United States. That last one is the real payoff for everyone. I recommend this book far beyond the mere number of stars by which Amazon allows me to rate it.

Editorial Review:

This guide is the first of its kind, and presents the U.S. Constitution as never before, including a clause-by-clause analysis of the document, each amendment and relevant court case, and the documents that serve as the foundation of the Constitution.

Comprehensive, but unbelievably out of date. 3 out of 5 stars.
12 of 12 people found this review helpful.

This book simplifies corporations law and gives concrete examples and good summaries.

However, be aware that the book is in many places completely out of date and cites sections of statutes that were changed 12 years ago (even though this edition was published in 2002). You'll have to check constantly in your statutory supplement and in your case book to make sure that what you're reading is up-to-date.

It's hard to understand, really, how an author could fail to update sections of a book over such a long period especially an author with a law degree who is, therefore, giving outdated legal advice).

That all being said, the meat of the book is well done.

Splendid resource for students in California non-ABA law schools! 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 14 people found this review helpful.

If you're in a California non-ABA approved law school and after about nine months you are completely burnt out with your text books then start studying these criminal law flash cards. In the first 100 cards it clarifies legal terms that extend to torts as well such as vicarious liabilty and these flash cards go on to explain the exact difference between proximate cause and cause in fact for both criminal law and torts as well. These flash cards are not as hard to study as text books but they are not a substitute for them either. If you are 1ls in an ABA approved law school then disregard this review and study whatever your law professor recommends.

Great efficient, time saver 5 out of 5 stars.
14 of 15 people found this review helpful.

This book offers law students with a time saving alternative to piecing together the 120+ cases in your textbook to form a picture of Constitutional Law.

Unlike your law professor, the author of this book does not play hide the ball. The relevant Constitutional Law issues and conclusions are clearly identified with no tricks, answerless hypotheticals, or the shameful deceptions that you are likely to find in a Constitutional Law textbook.

The book is well organized and written in a way that you can easily come up with the "black letter law" and modes of argument so that you can be successful in your class.

This book's coverage is very broad; it can be used for both Constitutional Law and Constitutional Rights classes.

It has a "Capsule Summary" that briefly explains the major points that the book will cover. I read over the Capsule Summary and found it very helpful in creating a framework that helped me understand everything in detail throughout the rest of the book.

Emanuel has already peiced the cases together for you. You can figure out what the common state of Constitutional Law very quickly. This is very helpful if your professor is going to give you an issue-spotter/essay test.

I am very pleased with the experience that I had with this book (2005 edition). I rarely went to my Constitutional Law class and never did any of the readings. I studied this book in the days leading up to the final exam and scored in the top 10% of the class! If I could do this, then it is not too far fetched to believe that a diligent/more intelligent student would have even more impressive results.
